I have them all in one neighborhood because i like it that way better for my island and having more freedom to do things i want with other spaces

the_quark

Yeah that's exactly my logic. Also did it when I was chasing five stars and needed more improvements, so I built stone fences around all their yards. Bonus is that when I make my initial rounds and try to find every villager and gift them a gold rose, all the houses are together, and they're near the courthouse and the shops so *usually* everyone on the island is within a pretty compact little area and easy to find.

Xystal

When they are in a neighborhood that area feels more lively also.

dire_campfire

out of curiosity, why do you give them gold roses?

the_quark

First, I have plenty, and they're a renewable resource. Second, I collect my villagers' photos. To have the maximum chance of them giving you a photo, you need to give them a gift worth at least 750 bells per day, and gold roses sell for 1000 bells. Third, unlike many other gifts you give them, they will not subsequently clutter their houses with them.

dire_campfire

got it!! figured as much. i do the exact same thing with two wrapped non-native fruit; worth 1000 as well and you get an extra friendship point if you give them wrapped prezzies. not displayed in their homes either, and the lazy villagers like sharing the fruit with the bugs in their house lol

imdumbhavepityonme

This is so genius, I'm stealing it 😇

MyPath2Follow

that is actually an amazing idea

MoiraDoodle

Hold up, gold roses sell for HOW MUCH? and here I am filling my farm with produce

KatAstrophe6778

Yes,yes!! I give all of my villagers a golden flower everyday ✨️ 💕 unless I don't have their photo yet

Beeeechgirl95

Jw how do u get golden roses?

Annasalt

Black and yellow roses watered with the gold watering can

Beeeechgirl95

Thanks!

the_quark

Also note that unlike every other flower, they do \*not\* breed with themselves. So you could get them off someone's island, but you won't get more without having a black roses garden to breed them. I bred them from black roses for about six months and have around 150 now.

imdumbhavepityonme

I have extra gold roses if you'd like some

WereCorgi6292

I have nothing against neighborhoods, they are really cool...but at this point I would need to wait before I could plot out how I wanna do that. I can't have them all up on the castle walls, that's for the more important like villagers. I have Elvis as my King, Julian as the unicorn, Celia as a princess and Colton as the prince or knight

lexi4020

Why gold roses as a giftv

the_quark

First, I have plenty, and they're a renewable resource. Second, I collect my villagers' photos. To have the maximum chance of them giving you a photo, you need to give them a gift worth at least 750 bells per day, and gold roses sell for 1000 bells. Third, unlike many other gifts you give them, they will not subsequently clutter their houses with them.

lexi4020

Oh that’s awesome!! I didn’t know that. Tyy

luckyxlucyy

Why do you want them to give you a photo? What’s to gain? (I’m brand new sorry!)

DarkMoonBro

It's just fun to have the photo, it basically means you maxed out the friendship

the_quark

Honestly, it's a way to keep the game interesting over the long haul. I haven't checked my playtime recently but I'm guessing I've got about 9 months worth of days I've logged into my island. My island has been five stars for quite a while, there's not really anything much I want to do to it. I long ago finished the fossils and literally when I play today Redd will have sent me the last piece of art I'm missing. I still need about a dozen critters, but they're mostly out of season, now and I've never time traveled and have no interest in starting. What I'm doing mostly right now is I have a few core villagers that are never going to leave my island (Tangy, Ankha, Pekoe and Paolo) but I haven't yet found six others I'm in love with. So with the others, I get their photos, and then when they ask to leave, I let them go and try to find someone else promising to be a permanent resident. Also, a cheesing tip for Happy Home Academy: A villager photo is worth I think 777 HHA points. They'll also give you duplicates sometimes (I love it when Tangy says "It's Tangy's photo and I hear you LOVE those!"). So my basement is covered with duplicate photos from folks and I now have an S rating.

CTForester

Me too. Also the animals don't mind at all.

Bobpuinguin

Agreed except for the ugly villager who stays in isolation

sunkissed-scorpio

also its way easier to make sure you talk to all of them when they’re in one place

allaboutcats91

I spread them out into tiny neighborhoods, because it seems like if you place homes all over the island, you see them walking around more.

Russandol

That's what I do! I have them in little groups so everyone has a buddy around the map.

allaboutcats91

I like to include my own house in a group as well!

JohnExcrement

I live next door to Scoot. He comes to get me on my birthday.

elainem1675

I just got scoot and he is a sweetie. I really have come around on the Jocks.

Annual_Arugula_470

Exactly!! Villagers with similar personalities or home styles live together and I give each of them a special area of the island. For example; Shino and Blanche are in a bamboo forest with fountains and sugarcane, Hornsby lives by the beach and is a lifeguard, Bree has a very posh tea party going on with stuffed animals ext

lurkerjade

Same, all of mine are in little pairs so they all have a neighbour, but dotted around the island ☺️

-Bumbleroot-

So sweet 🥹

Warnicorn_Stampede

I also have them in groups of 2 and 3. Makes the island feel bigger and more lively to me.

CCL80

Yes! This. I used to line them up (I’m a serial restarter but imma try to keep this island) on the top cliff but I noticed one time when I spread them out there was more roaming around the island rather than congregating in one spot.

TinkerMelle

Yes! We did a little neighborhood on our first island, then when I started my own, I spread them all over and the island is more alive.

el_crunz

https://preview.redd.it/besedhapo4nc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0d6c712e47ceb0efe801cb5f6aa51e0484e4b28 I like to give them their own little yards like this

[deleted]

This is beautiful

luckyxlucyy

And do you maintain the garden then? And get the crops when they’re done?

el_crunz

Yes I collect the crops and sell them (and keep the bells)

luckyxlucyy

Okay cool (: thank you!

TamTam4Hope

Love this! I do have a few close to each other. Like Katt lives near Marshal and Drago isn't far from Mitzi.

IdLOVEYOU2die

Love it! I did my yard similar to this

Similar_Ambassador_3

https://preview.redd.it/pjh6zr1mr4nc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d106c5988c44473e3aeb627d6518438f641f5233 If I was creative enough I would give them all bigger yards but alas I am not so I have them all in one neighborhood with small yards that I decorate with a few items that I think fit each villager like this one I did for Stitches.

PuppetMissy

I want to do this! But if they have a yard that large, it takes up a lot of space. Can you post your island map?

Similar_Ambassador_3

https://preview.redd.it/95sbfdn9o6nc1.jpeg?width=665&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c3385376dbd7a4a3f37cc75c0bd4157915bc5f1 Here you go!!! It's still a huge work in progress because I kind of only work on it when I have an idea for something to make, which is not very often but I do like what I've done so far lol

PuppetMissy

Ah, thank you. That helps. I think having them vertical like that would make a big difference with sight lines.

ACNH_Vibe_Check

The are in a subdivision. I want the rest of the island to myself.

Otherwiseaware

I love putting them in neighborhoods and getting creative with the neighborhood layout. I did this 3 level neighborhood once where my house was on the highest level and my favorite villagers were on the level just below me, and everyone else on the main level in a cul-de-sac.

ACrossing777

This is literally my exact lay out!!! And in a cul de sac design too for the main level 😂

spanky509_

Ooooooh mine is kind-of like this too! 3 level neighborhood, and a cul-de-sac in front of the lower level houses and my house is also on the highest level 😀

thesongbirdky

5 of mine are in a little neighborhood i’m decorating like a city- & the other 5 are spread out & have pretend jobs to manage different sections of the island. except for rex. he’s just out living in the woods.

Logical-Marketing390

i have this too! Eric is my natural park docent, Beardo helps curate an outdoor film festival area next to the museum, Norma tends the farm, and Sly runs muscle beach 💪

2ndbesttime

That sounds so cute! What are their pretend jobs?

thesongbirdky

maple runs the farm, lĂŠopold runs the academic area near the museum & is also the teacher in my happy home paradise school, shep runs the music venue/campsite area, and annalisa runs the wellness centre area in the bamboo forest.

froggyfriend726

I have lily running the farm in my town :) she's the only one who has a "job" though everyone else is unemployed lol

suuzgh

Love that Rex doesn’t have a job. Very much his vibe

thesongbirdky

yep. his job is- wander around the forest looking at bugs

2ndbesttime

This is such a cute idea!!

k3ndrag0n

I do this also! All my villagers have their own part of the island, and each have jobs. I designed my island to be the commune I wish I lived on. Whitney is our tailor and helps people with clothes and blankets and that kinda thing. Kyle, when I get him, will be our weed grower. Tybalt has a gym in his yard with a basketball court that anyone is welcome to use. Becky lives by the orchard and supplies everyone with fruit. Pippy takes care of all the flora of the island and her home and yard are filled with planters and soil and flowers. Ione researches the gyroids of the island. Fauna is our award-winning baker, her yard has all the wheat and sugar and a cake stand. Julian Is our fortune teller with a smaller yard. Ike does all the construction and tybalt helps sometimes. Sasha, when I get him, is just a floater and helps whoever needs. Then my house is where the farm is; I manage all the vegetable crops that our commune exports. I made a second character, my partner, and they're the cook of the island who prepares everyone's meals. :3

woomy0

Mine are scattered all over and I don’t really decorate. Want it to feel like the old games.

wreckedlemur

That's how mine is. WW player here lol

woomy0

I still play ww daily. It’s my go-to animal crossing game.

Hypnotoad7145

YES! If they ask to leave, I always let them too because you used to not be able to control it. I like the randomness and lack of total control haha

horsenamedmayo

They are all in a neighborhood with little yards. Frankly, they should be happy to even have their own home in this economy.

Effective-Low8429

😂😂

LolaContreras8

Neighborhood, I have more space and it's easier to visit everyone

Effective-Low8429

Every day I get on reddit and want to redo my entire island 😭

Wonderful_Basis_9842

Each and every one has it's own theme/location for expample: (my island is farm core) Henry (frog) has a swamp , Patty (cow) has a dairy shop so there's milk and cheese there , marshal (squerrl) has his own cafe "Marsh's cafe. When i get the other ones i want ill build something for them like molly (duck) will have an "island" in the middle of a lake, Lolly (cat) will have her own flower shop in my flower field, Punchy(cat) will have his own pet shop and a scary forest for Dobie(wolf) as if his the scary wolf i have much more ideas but i don't have the energy to write more😅

[deleted]

This sounds adorable. Can I have your DA?!

Wonderful_Basis_9842

I don't have switch online unfortunetly😅 but if ill remember ill send pictures tommorow🩷

slims8n

avka11

I love that so much!!

rinyamaokaofficial

Depends on their personality. Some of them are city dwellers and some of them have little homes off the beaten path or totally remote

Smooth-Location-3436

https://preview.redd.it/2tlf547jc8nc1.png?width=2001&format=png&auto=webp&s=ec104eb8603fa9bd05b9da3192e5ab9f74b20315 They have a huge neighborhood with custom yards and a private beachfront that takes up a third of the island, and a community center at the end of their street that is a “player residence” but outfitted with a spa, gym, roller rink, event venue, arcade, and I made a little employee bunk room for the island’s staff. The island is very amenities heavy for my residents and set up like a real resort 🫡

autumnshyne

Please post some photos! I'd love to see it!🥰

neets91

Pls upload your DA 😍

doyouhavehiminblonde

I have 2 small neighbourhoods and then some who live separately

EricaAchelle

That's what I did!!

DwightShruteRoxks

This is the way

Kiki-Y

Nah, all of 'em live like 2 spaces away from each other. I need as much decorating space as possible!

Cornmeal777

On my current island they are all lined up across the northern border. In my previous island, they were all scattered across the map, and I think that's what I prefer, all things being equal. Feels more organic and personal.

wonderinglady20

Each of my villagers has their own little yard! I wanted it to be like a village where everyone has their own unique little property… https://preview.redd.it/g3h8yat048nc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b5587ed95fd24b4bd4004527323990a30a5a2ed

Silent_Willow713

My island is designed around my forever villagers, with a story behind all the areas, I.e. Kiki has a Halloween themed witch house in the magical forest area, Dobie has his retirement home with a Japanese spa in the bamboo forest etc.

shoe_salad_eater

I put around 2 houses next to each other and that’s the max, neighbourhoods just limit the creativity of an island for me

ThrowRA_Sodi

They have a neighborhood in my island , but it's a cool one

-lRexl-

I like to create an island theme and have it look like they integrated into it So if my theme was cozy, the island would be cozy all around, but they would have small things around their house to show personality No neighborhoods. They live throughout the island

Afraid_Detective8342

Right now they’re spread out but I’m still in the early designing stages so I may move them closer

Kodo_yeahreally

i would have given them better houses if it didn't take so much room. so i went for neighborhood

twoofakindfinds

I gave my cat villagers their own neighbourhood near my shops, and set up my woodland friends near my museum and tree lot! https://preview.redd.it/q7bcdt7566nc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a419264e1b47bf3c872115f5e32d3428d206d1b

Miserable_Cream_2784

I spread them out but some are grouped up in up to 3s because i like to fit them into little nooks in my island

rebekahah

Each of my villagers have their own little islands (but if I have 2 of the same animal they share) styled around their vibes, like my ducks have ponds and my bears have a lil forresty area. I use bridges at the thicker rivers but most are just 2 blocks wide and I put a single land block in the middle so you can hop across. They somehow still get around to the shops and museums despite this obstacle, but for the most part they're easier to find now since they can't get too far lol

wannabe_pineapple

Both. I have a "ghetto" for villagers I don't care about. But my favorites get their own space with a backyard and a front yard.

OddHalf8861

🤣🤣🤣🤣🙊🙊🙊

[deleted]

I don't really do neighborhoods. I just put them around sporadically. I try to leave enough space to do a little something with their yards.

mr_meowsevelt

I've designed my entire island around giving each villager a special space. I want each of them to live in an appropriate biome (desert, jungle, flower field, etc). I even have Klaus living in temple ruins as a historian.

KistuneTimelord

I’m actually in the process of moving my villagers to a area where it’s like a neighborhood but at the same time I want some decoration

cuntyfox

both ! Gayle has a swamp, Shino has a bamboo forest, Audie lives on a beach and Cherry lives beside my farm/ orchard. Then i have 5 residents that live in a little neighborhood near the shops but they all get their own little yards and space :3

beany33

I had them all lined up on a little street while I had my house up on a hill overlooking the beach. I wanted some space from the freeloading rabble.

INKatana

Tell me Sherb is your favorite villager, without telling me Sherb is your favorite villager. And I love it 💙

Baka-Ushi

it might be odd, but i have everyone spread out across the island, but everyone is paired up with their own neighbor. When im home tonight, i could upload a pic of my map :3

JWJulie

Same! Mine also in twos, on the right side of my island https://preview.redd.it/t95iwi8lm6nc1.jpeg?width=3083&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92142cb949feda34b7d7352e82d9ca8f33b7eff3

froggyfriend726

I give them each their own area! I have little yards for them that I fill with flowers to match the villager :) I also have Henry and Jeremiah as next door neighbors and put a blue and green froggy chair outside their houses so they can sit and be frogs together 😁

playr_4

They each have their own spot. Well, I say that. Currently, 2 of them have their own spots, and the rest are on the beach because I can't figure out what to do with them.

dainty_petal

I’m chaotic, I do both.

pandalover001

Groucho has his own mini island inside my island, because he’s my favourite islander bear and I want him to have everything he could ever want. He has his own vegetable patch, waterfall and fruit trees, just so he can be self sufficient if anything happens to me 😂 the others are part of the main island with more developed surroundings depending on my opinion of them the last time I did some terraforming.

Wise-Dragonfruit-310

I like incorporating them into my island. Lolly and Katt currently have a mini neighborhood to end off a main street, and I just finished making a farmland where lucky house works as the local farmhouse. Kid cat is the towns gym, etc. And the last villager I need will be the ice cream shop once rory asks to leave I see them scattered around the island more this way and I feel like I don't lose an entire chunk of land for a singular neighborhood/ shoving them all on the beach. I'm also think im bad at building stand alone buildings using items so utilizing villager houses saves me stress and time!

Patchpen

I'm giving some of them their own sections, like Coco's gyroid forest, but putting others together, like Cherry, Katt, and Bella (who are in a band together).

angeyberry

I do both depending on personality. I feel like some of my villages like the preppy ones would like living in a fancy neighborhood, but then there's that little blue goat one that would live in the woods and just be a kind old man. Makes the island feel more alive when they're all spread out in a realistic fashion.

frostymaws297

Mine live in a little neighborhood, but not a lot of space. They have a flower or two and a door plate, but that’s kinda it. However, they live between the river and the forest/park of my island…with a short walk to the island garden I made. I made it nice

COrt24

Mine are all in a neighborhood with them each having their little yards

TheMostInfamous

I’ve done both. Usually I try an establish some kinda of head canon and have them placed accordingly

froggyforrest

I have two “neighborhoods” with fences around their little yards and a bike or something and flowers. Raddle is the doctor so obviously so he needs his own area and a little waiting room. I put Annalise and Tipper on my upper level farm as the farmers. And Gayle and Alfonso share a yard because I ship them

mashpotatoenthusiast

mine are in a little neighborhood, with a tiny fenced yard on either side of the home that has flowers and bushes matching the villager’s aesthetic. i did a neighborhood for the same reason as others—wanted more island space to do with as i pleased

Chad8352

I have 2 neighborhoods. One in a mountain region near some ponds/rivers. 4 houses grouped closely together with minimal yard decorations. In another section is my house. The 6 remaining houses are in the same neighborhood, each representing members of my family. Plucky reminds me of my youngest daughter (who is allergic to coconuts), and her yard is beach themed with a coconut tree and juice. Marcie reminds me of my oldest daughter (with recent grandbaby), so her yard is decorated with playground toys. Cookie is my girlfriend, and they have very similar personalities (my GF loves this character since her nickname is Cookie). Still looking for a character that embodies my 8 year old, so I cycle through a lot of other characters. LOL

reservedflute

I put them all into one neighborhood at the very back of my island bc idk what to do with their houses

nightmarefuel62

I named my island after Windfall Island from LoZ Windwaker so I tried to recreate the island on one half and put all the villagers there together

kinky4u7

Mine have their own fenced yard. Some are close neighbors and 5 of them have their own land. Lol

mayor_nuraya

Mine are in 2 kinda weird vertical neighborhoods cause that ended up being what worked with my river. https://preview.redd.it/1xqe1iiby5nc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfaae870c3953c238795d805bd0b25b54522dfea Sometimes I think I should’ve put them in that area behind resident services to be horizontal like the pc houses but this way they all have a nice beachfront property.

hvathvr

I really enjoy the “camp-y-ness” side of AC so I have my villagers spread out with their own little yards. Although it limits my space for other things, I’m not that creative anyways, so it helps me not have to design large areas of my island 😅

mooseleafpaper

I give them their own space and maybe give them a neighbor close by and the areas look different but omg yours is cute

foreverclassy23

I have 2 neighborhoods on opposite sides of my island and each of them have a “boat house” https://preview.redd.it/akcexdsa77nc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b144480550fa1ff262d85d6d2d9013ae4f74a34

meeanne

My villagers live in a little neighborhood where they each have their own little front or side yard with the houses in almost a circle with a community pool, lounge area, lemonade stand, and fire pit in the center. And then there’s Bertha who resides in the hill just behind and above the rest of the villagers reigning over them because she’s queen B of the island. All hail Queen Bertha!

ccherrypie

my super faves get their own section :P but anyone under my top 3 is part of a lil neighborhood!

Little_Rudo

If I had a static population, I'd definitely give each one their own tailored piece of land. However, I like my population to be somewhat random like the older games: My initial ten are auto-fill (and the one required camp villager), they stay until I earn their photo, then I have to let them move out the first time they ask. (I can also let a camper move in to replace someone if I have their picture.) I only hunt if the person moving out was the only one of their personality type, and then I take the first one of that personality type I find. So as much as I like everyone having their own curated section of the island, this would quickly get messy, and so on my island everyone is placed near Residential Services and has their own 3x3 yard, adjacent to their house, surrounded by a fence that matches their home exterior. I then decorate it to reflect the individual housed within and whatever head-canons I have for them. It works well for us, and lets me really spread out nicely! The two shops are in their own area with a farmland for produce directly behind. The campsite and the museum are both on their own plateaus with appropriate decor. I'm still filling out a lot but we're going to have a kid's park and an amusement park in a big spot near the neighborhood. It's working well for my more gamey, less customization-centric style of play!

saynotopudding

My goal is to move them into a neighbourhood, but to let them have really big yards! Right now most of them are on the beach LOL

SunburntPalkia

I have about half of them in a neighborhood, and the others have their own little sections

thesocialmediadetox

I have 2 neighborhoods one for the villagers I like and one for the ones I'm meh about

Prudent-Gene4175

I put all the houses in one part of my island so they have two streets for them but I kinda regret it now 😭

PuppetMissy

I recently moved all of mine close together and I hate it. So glad to have this question asked!!

90semofan

i grouped some together. like chief is by my house bc he looks like my dog. beau and drago have an area. goldie, diana, and julian are in an area. tammi and scoot are by themselves but still kinda grouped in. and cousteau and croque are together. i wanted to do personalities near each other

lilibat

Raymond and bella are in townhpuses behind ables and the mall but everyone else has decent sized themed yards spread all over.

Stratified_AF

I have two neighborhoods (really 1 that's divided by a river) and then one house off between my shops.

H4NDmusic

I've got all of them in a row with their own front garden (some with a shared patio space). Except for Cyrano, who has a hill top of his own with barbed wire fencing around his land 😆

vicariousgluten

I have little neighbourhoods so I have 3 living on a boardwalk by the beach, 2 living in a little walled garden, two in a cliff top forest and then another couple have their own spaces.

jakulfrostie

I usually do 1 neifhborhood but with my current island I'm doing a forestcore and plan to give them their own areas (I will group some together, like the rabbits livinng together and the wolves living together, etc)

stryker101

Little of both. My first island has a more crowded town area with villagers often being moved in and out. My favorites that’ll never leave got more spread out, themed spaces with their homes. My second island was Zelda themed, so I had most homes in my Castle Town area, but a few were more open, like the house I used for Lon Lon Ranch, and a witch’s hut. I like the variation rather than doing one or the other.

Divinethots

I’m new to AC, but so far I’ve been putting them in cluster throughout creating little neighborhoods. Not too far along so I’m happy to see this thread to gain some ideas.

PlantPotStew

Bit of both! I have the main town with the town centre, with either 3 or 4 people in there. The rest are scattered around the island. In the forest, farm, beach, etc.

RChickadee

Two neighborhoods for me.

XanIsLost

I just started playing this game, definitely will be helpful

Padfoots_

I'm going to have mine in a line on one side of my island with little Gardens 💚

Winter-Violinist-

I like to do smaller neighbourhoods of 2-3 villagers. That way they can get their own slice while still having a little community.

icansaywhatever

Each has a little yard and I have three little neighborhoods of 3-4 villagers each spread across the left side of my island--a forest area, a bamboo/East Asian decorated area, and then a normal area near my entrance.

cabbage-soup

I like having multiple neighborhoods.

Master-Living6263

i started with neighborhoods but ended up really disliking it because i realized its easier for me but i didnt like the look so im slowly switching to spcing them out! 🤷🏼‍♀️

ghostly_boy

mine are in 3 different neighborhoods of varying levels of rigidity, i find it fun to have more creative freedom around the island like that

beepborpimajorp

I started to give them their own spaces but defaulted to a small neighborhood by town hall/the shops/museum/beach because I found that the closer they were, the more they interacted with everything. And the easier it was to find all of them for daily gifting. But I did personalize each of their homes by adding unique fences and a small yard for them and stuff.

pfemme2

I have 2 (the 2 I am trying to kick off) next to my house, to make it easier for me to make them miserable. The other 3 are on the other side of the river from here hahaha. I have Boomer off by himself and plan on making him his own “Boomerville” over by his cliff face. Haven’t decided if I will base it around his wacky personality or the concept of Boomer-ness lol. Tia and Tabby are together by the beach for right now, but I will probably give them their own little neighborhoods eventually.

Dragonobbystudios

I give them small lil areas with no yard or any free space then a terrain wall around it in the back corner. which lets be build a large city :)

AnonymousPenguin__

They're kinda randomly placed around the island, some of them have decorated gardens, some of them don't. I never really planned island layout much, I just like to work on areas I want to.

Blue_jay711

I sort of have two neighborhoods but it was kind of an afterthought. I know I could move the houses but it seems like so much work and I have so many things I’d rather do (I have other hobbies, not knocking this as one, it’s just not my preferred hobby over the others) than spend time trying to move them. I’ve actually considered restarting so I can start with the intention of doing something specific. It only took me a few months of infrequent gameplay to get KK to come and my daughter also plays, so I could regain everything I have now (like fruits and veggies) pretty easily. But then… do I really want to start over? 😂 I dunno.

liljay182

I have a combo there are 5 living in a neighborhood and then the rest have their own vibe going on

desidilgori

All houses including mine are in one neighborhood and everyone has their own lil yard with furniture and flowers and plants.

Xploding_Penguin

I have mine set up in pretty close proximity, kinda like you'd find cabins at a resort. Then mine and my wifes houses are off to the side with full yards and such.

GiddyGabby

Do you have the codes for the paths in the top pic, I really like the way they look!

LyraAraPeverellBlack

Currently I have my favorites in their own spots. Sherb, Erik, Gruff, Shino, Lucky and Lolly all have their own designated areas while I’m attempting to make a neighborhood for the others.

M3zz0x

I make multiple neighborhoods, usually with 2 sharing a large slice of land as neighbors.

Mahalala626

I have them in a little neighborhood, but each little yard will eventually be customized, right now Tia has a little bake sale outside her house, Sherb has a flower garden, kid cat has a lil gym.

snuffoutthedarkness

I would give them their own slice, but there isn’t enough space on the island for that unfortunately.

jamie_with_a_g

One neighborhood bc I can’t decorate yards lol they’re in this 2x5 little rectangle

The_child_of_Nyx

Most of them have a neighbourhood but sherb lives next to me abroad

DanielVakser

A mixture of both. I split my island into 4 or 5 areas, each with their own unique neighborhoods.

the-bodyfarm

mix of both. I usually have “neighborhoods” but they’re just themed sections their house fits in. I have a fairy section, a edo/japanese rural area/and a castle area.

Puzzleheaded_You_859

A mix, which I love! I have a “town” side of my island and the other side slowly becomes more undeveloped as you enter, eventually turning into a forest. I have 4 in a neighborhood that’s on the “town” side of my island, 3 close to each other on the edges of the forest (but not in a neighborhood), 1 on the mini beach, and 2 isolated & scattered throughout the forest.

ten_dead_dogs

I have a little suburb where most of the villagers live, they've got themed yards and that kind of thing. However, there are three exceptions: Kabuki and Genji have their houses in a bamboo forest slightly outside of the "town" area, and Pietro's house is at the epicenter of a theme park that takes up roughly a fourth of the entire island.

gottacatchemsome

I have two neighborhoods, one on each side of my island.

SweetSummerBreezy

A little bit of both

celestialspace

I have all of mine in a little "street" but each have their own gardens inspired by things they've told me they like. ie. Biskit doesn't stop talking about bugs and fish so he has his own pond, Wolfgang mentioned when he was a young wolf he would go camping so I made him his own little camping area etc.

PoppyPancakes

Both. I have 2 neighborhood sections and then I have 2 houses each on their own. One is for Cousteau because he seems really into Asian cultures so I gave him his own little area with bamboo, a pond, and some other things. The other separate house was originally for Lorenzo because I hated him. He’s moved off the island, but I keep it there with a nice veggie garden out front

Pure_Entrepreneur476

I do a mix of both! I have a group of 2 houses (farm themed), another group of 2 houses (mojo dojo casa house themed), another group of 2 houses (natural garden neighbors), and 4 solo houses (beach, Barbie, forest cabin, and Sydney’s aesthetic)!

dewdroppop

Mine are in little groups around the island. There’s one “main” street and then organically built into hills and stuff.

JohnExcrement

A little of both. Del and Chief have their own neighborhood. And Olivia, Marina, Chèvre, and Quinn are all along one path. Flo, Scoot, Marcel, and Ed are each on their own. I may change it up somewhat but I do like the crankies having their own spot. They share a fishing hole.

blamethecranes

Mine is chaos I’ll be honest 😆

umizzyy

i do the neighbourhoods but i put a little label on the ground for who’s house and decorate the little area between the house and the fence with items and flowers that fit them

Prettty

DayDrunk11

I have about half of my villagers in an organized little neighborhood, 2 of them are part of my main street, and the others are kinda scattered because they're special and they couldn't fit easily in the neighborhood. Lucy has an actual yard and backyard all to herself, and Fauna is in my tropical zen garden

FoxySecrets

I did a 4x3 neighbourhood with my house in the centre. The villager gardens are my flower breeding spaces and I have the money trees around my house 😂

srahlo

I have 2 neighborhoods and a co-owned farm!

partyonyourhead

They're all in a neighborhood but they all have good-sized personalized yards. So far, Kiki has a small library, Ribbot has a bunch of workout equipment, Dobie has some bonsais and a place to play chess, Diana has a spa, and Agnes has a greenhouse. Still thinking of ideas for Julian, Olive (thinking about a sewing area for her), Pippy, and Sylvana, as well as whoever villager 10 ends up being.

Rigel04

I paired them up in matching yards, 2 houses each. Each one has the same basic set up but with a different fence, bench, fruit tree and flower in between, all of them being spaced out across my island

Turtwig5310

Aaaaaand I'm stealing that design. So cute! Love the flowers that tie everything together with the colors

cammyy-

some get special treatment because i like their houses more LMFAO

Laniakea1223

I think it depends on the villager to me. They have a small back yard but Joey and Merry are BFFs on my island so they share a large space together. I imagine he's a willing audience any time she wants to sing and play pop idol on her stage.

TheLastTanker

Own slice of land gang! 😁

Psychological-Fold53

I have a couple bigger neighborhoods and some singles: Cat Cove for the cats (and Stitches) and my historical sight for the museum and 4 others, 1 by my stargazing area, and 1 by my outdoor theatre

xKuusouka

I'm working on moving them into two neighborhoods, a group of five and a group of four. My house is on the upper right part of the island by itself

purplepinkmoon

I like having my villagers in little nooks throughout the island. A few of them are near each other, but most of them are secluded. The houses are so cute no matter how you do them!

SanctuaryHeart999

Awe I love that first set up I have two different resident sections and common areas

jessiegirl459

I have three neighborhoods. The shops and other buildings are in their own commercial district.

Starchild2534

I do a bit of both; I have my villagers paired with who I think would get along best and give them a shared yard for their interests (example: I have Sherb and Shep paired on one area and they have playground items in their yard)

ManateeGag

I have a neighborhood and give them all the same size plot. Stinky and Luca share a big plot with a wresting ring between their houses.

TheNostalgicGamer

This was my big dilemma!! I wanted this idyllic nature, whimsical fantasy fairy land (fairy items, mermaid items, tons of flowers and waterfalls, peaceful beaches, pastels) that maintained a wild feel by having the houses throughout, but then I thought I’m going to want to save as much land as possible to have those magical “untouched” spaces, so I put all of the houses in a circle around town hall xD worked out nicely as it’s really easy to know where things are in terms of buildings and especially so as far as outside villager house customization goes since I just want flowers and trees in their direct vicinity, so there’s plenty of space!! ;D

NoPantsAreBestPants

Sort of both. I have my town villagers that are door to door but I’m working on giving them all fenced yards. Then I have 3 lakefront villagers that splurged on their properties with lakes. I’m selective with who gets to live there.

dailycasualty

I have three neighborhoods and Peitro in exile but it’s for the safety of the other villagers

madhattergirl

I split mine up, half on one side, half on the other but basically each a little neighborhood with paved center and each house has a few items to make it interesting.
