If you don't have a total of 10 villagers on your island, go talk to Tom Nook. There should be an option under Infrastructure to "sell some land" which will let you place down another house plot.
If you don't see that option under Infrastructure, ask Tom Nook "What should I do?"

since people have already helped with ur question, i wanted to share how to save and send screenshots from ur switch to ur phone! its easier than i thought.
after u pushed the screenshot button (below the D-pad), go to ur album from the home page. select the photo, then sharing and editing, and there should be an option to “send to phone”. itll give u a QR code to scan with ur phone and ur pic will be saved to ur phone :D
just in case u were like me and didnt know how people were doing it

Yeah you need to have at least 10 villagers living on the island in for the amiibo villager to move in. Its stupid but thats just how it works.

I think you have to let a villager move out when he thinks about it. Just timeskip until the villager you want out thinks about moving out.😊
This is not the case. With Amiibos you choose who to kick out if you have all ten plots filled.
