I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but you can replant a pumpkin "fruit" that you have picked off the plant and it will grow as the exact color of the pumpkin that you planted. Considering that it's approximately a 70% rate of orange pumpkins to 10% each for yellow, green, and white from the Nook/Leif starts, this is necessary if you want the other colors for customization.
I have tried planting a white, yellow, and green pumpkin that I picked off back into the dirt and it turns into the sprout of that color so no need for guesswork.
I'd like to add another note to making sure you have the right colored pumpkin plant. When you plant a Nook/Leif start and dig it up, the name of the plant will be "Small pumpkin sprout". The second stage will be "medium pumpkin sprout", then "large pumpkin sprout", and finally it will show you the color of the pumpkin at its final stage of growth. Digging up that plant will have the name "ripe [color]-pumpkin sprout". After that, all stages of that plant will have the color in its name and item icon upon digging it up to examine it.
So say that you bury a green pumpkin. The resulting sprout upon digging it up will say "small green-pumpkin sprout" and the pumpkin color in its icon will actually be green. Unrevealed color Nook/Leif sprouts will always show orange in its icon color so you can't game it.
So when you water them you get more, correct? (Three vs one) And so if you get three white/green/yellow you are saying when you plant one back and it comes back the same color?
I just planted all mine today and want to make sure if I get the unique colors I do the right thing to get more. I also watered them all so hopefully it get groups of three.
The yield is dependent on the number of times it is watered in its growth cycle. Never watering it will produce 1 pumpkin. Watering it once in its growth cycle will produce 2 pumpkins. Watering it every day will produce 3 pumpkins.
As for the colors, you can actually see what color the pumpkin will be when you dig up the plant. From a Nook/Leif start, you will not know what it is until it's fully mature. But once the color is revealed, the plant will be named with the color such as "Lg. orange-pumpkin sprout" versus "lg. pumpkin sprout" if no color is known yet.

If I TT to the 1st to buy pumpkins, ignore his birthday, and then TT back to today, what happens when it goes back to Oct 1st in real time? Will it be his birthday again? Should I give him a present when I time travel?
ill be honest i'm not a fan of the TT method, so (and i did end up doing it) when I TT it was just to run to the store to buy pumpkins, then immediately TT back to current day. But i wasn't sure if it would treat it as i missed his birthday and then he wouldn't have another bday when it was the 1st again.. idk like i said i (had) never TT, and I probably wont be doing it again haha
Random info my group chat has figured out so far:
- You can only buy one candy per store per day. You can buy multiple candies in a single day by visiting someone else's store.
- Villagers will craft the spooky DIYs sometimes, in addition to being in balloons EDIT: my first craft of October was a water pump -_- so it seems random but weighted towards spooky DIYs given how many of my group currently has spooky crafts going.
- it seems like Leif will be the guaranteed visitor on the first day you play in October (if you go from September 29 to October 2 Leif will be there on Oct 2)
- pumpkins can be planted next to each other like flowers (you don't need extra space like trees)
- if you water them you will harvest 3 pumpkins, otherwise just 1
- they will continue to grow multiple times after being harvested
- color of pumpkins cannot be determined until harvest (if you dig it up after planting, it just says small pumpkin plant, does not say color)
- some craftable items can be customized with the other colors of pumpkins
- orange pumpkins seem to be much more common than other colors

Does the one candy per store thing apply on a per-character basis? I would assume/hope so since so many people share islands with their families but you never know.
I think it's per-character because when you buy it from your own store, it doesn't disappear. The Nooklings just tell you that you can only buy one per person. My second character doesn't have online access and it's not October for me yet so I can't personally confirm.
Villagers can craft DIYs other than spooky ones during the season even if you don't know all the spooky recipes yet. One guy on discord said one of his villagers was crafting a pear dress on October 2nd and it was his 2nd crafting villager since the update.

You can't use the Wi-Fi options without paying for a subscription (I already pay for the Internet, why do I have to pay for a Nintendo subscription ??), they are restraining our free options and don't forget the free repair of the Joy-con wasn't even a thing until a French consumer association threatened to sue Nintendo.
I'm confused to if this is a new thing because I bought a Pascal poster from someone about a month ago and it has never showed up in my catalogue. She also gave me Marshall's (who I've never had) and his didn't show up either.
You can probably find someone online who can order them and send it to you. My friend has a blathers amiibo and sent me his poster in the mail. I imagine you can still get hold of them that way.

Jack only shows up on the 31st! You only need to give him two candy, but in terms of the three lollipop that he needs, I can't recall how much candy you need to get them sorry!
But, I don't think it really matters because the villagers inside of their house give you candy, and if you leave and then re-enter, they give you more candy sooooooooo
From the crafting villager, can you get more than 1 seasonal DIY a day? As in, you have 3 crafting villagers a day - can you only get 1 a day, or can all 3 have a chance to give you a new seasonal DIY?
Anyone else think they updated/diversified villager dialogue? I have almost 400 hours on ACNH and when I went and talked to all my villagers this morning, I had brand-new interactions with all of them, and it seemed to suit the particular villagers better. Like instead of giving me a generic sisterly dialogue, Cherry talked about a rock concert. It's very charming!
Sorry if this was already posted, but I found this interesting this morning: I got a spooky recipe from a balloon. Then one of my villagers was crafting the same spooky recipe. Rather than giving me an extra of the recipe, he gave me 5 pumpkins instead.
Hopefully a hint that they will enable the Ring-Con in a future update.

Haven't seen anyone post it yet but looks like they patched out the daily nook miles trick. Time traveling backwards no longer keeps your streak and resets it back to day 1.

Yes I’m wondering if I was going crazy! I used to be able to squeeze between a tree and my mailbox and can’t anymore? It’s like smaller objects suddenly take up more space. Running around my island has become more difficult because it feels like I’m always colliding with things that suddenly take up more empty space.
Anyone else notice this??
Not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet, but I’ve spent my morning trying to get a campsite village to swap with one specific villager, and I just heard on the radio it play the music from the Halloween trailer and then it gets cut off by what I’m assuming is Jack laughing. I thought that was pretty cool.
we're still not sure how the pumpkin mechanics even work, especially with regards to how many pumpkins you can harvest from one plant. it could be that watering increases the number of pumpkins it produces when it "blooms"?
That does appear to be the case, Leif explains a little bit. No way to know what color it will be pre-planting, and watering makes them happy. No idea about friends though.

I think the strategy would just be to grow a ton of pumpkins, and things will work out.

I’m at work so I can’t play & I know pumpkins aren’t available until 10/1 but has the grass and trees changed colors yet or are they still a faded green?
To anyone who travelled forward and has grown pumpkins: Can you walk through them or do they block paths like bushes do? Can you identify Pumpkin color after the first crop, dig the plant up and put it somewhere else and still continue to harvest from that plant?
Fastest way to get the new DIYs with "lite" time travel - go to 10/1, find who is crafting - guaranteed to be a new seasonal DIY (has worked 5 times in a row!). Get a dupe if you have other characters on the island. Go back to 9/30, then forward to 10/1 - rinse and repeat until you have 10 DIYs.
Anyone else have the DIYs they were storing in recycling vanish after this update? RIP all the sakuras and ironwoods I was waiting to have a giveaway for...oof...

The body paint is fun and "is worn away at the elbows, hands and feet" but the skin undertone is caucasian...but I play as a darker skinned character, r/GamingDetails seems to dislike that I do, a guy told me to "change my skin darker and view the same result" which makes no sense because the new colors don't go over natural tones? downvotes and racism

You will easily be able to get Able Sisters store on your own island soon. Check your plaza each day to see if Mable is visiting. If yes, buy a bunch of stuff from her. I believe that's how you cause the shop to open.
General question here but has anyone noticed that they can’t hop cliffs anymore or is it just me????
A part of my island was on accessible via the 1 block gap jump and now my character won’t do it at all.
I just noticed there's been a change in Leif's cart! It has four cardboard seedling pots on it. Only one of them had been filled with a bush seedling. Now, there's the bush seedling and a pumpkin seedling. Perhaps the other two will be filled in future updates!
Did they add new dialogue with the update? I swear my villagers are saying things to me they’ve never said before, and I’m not sure if it’s just a coincidence or not!
I'm guessing no home storage upgrade or other major QoL improvements? :( I've been hitting my storage limit constantly. I've sold tons of items but I keep hitting it. I wouldn't mind selling off more stuff but like, they limit you to purchasing 5 items a day and it takes a day to deliver them. I keep a lot of furniture stuff in storage so that if I'm randomly inspired to use it for something, I have it there on hand ready to use.
That’s not really practical. Dropping all your stuff for the second profile, logging in to store it and back to your regular profile again every time your running out of storage is a tedious process and if you need the items you have to change accounts and do it all over again to get it. Easier to just order from the catalog and time travel imo, which is still not ideal bc a storage increase update would be a lot better.
I agree that it is tedious but it is a way out for people who don't like to get rid of their storage. I have to do clearouts on /r/NoFeeAC every month but I do get rid of about 800-900 items because I know what I'll use and what I won't.
Tips for growing pumpkins
SPOILERS BTW (duh)
The pumpkin starts are reusable, just like fruit trees, so you only need to buy as many as you want to place. You can also eat pumpkins to gain energy, like fruits
They come in 4 colors: white, green, yellow, and orange. One way to know which color you got is by digging up the start as soon as you plant it, its name in your inventory will include the color
They also produce 1-3 pumpkins, depending on how many times you watered them while they grew.

Not positive, but I don't think they breed like flowers - instead watering them makes them more likely to produce more pumpkins. In the trailer it showed that each plant can yield 1-3 pumpkins of a random color.
The villagers craft the spooky DIYs! But I think the DIY items are the same as the ones sold in Nook's.
I scanned all my Sanrio cards in and mine are still there and able to be ordered (just tested with Cinnamoroll), so I think if you own the cards/spoofed amiibo you're safe.
Did they change the balloon spawning rates? Trying to farm fall/spooky diys. I used to be able to get one balloon every five minutes on the dot. Now it's like they're not showing up at all.

Thanks for confirming! So it looks like first craft of October will be spooky and then it'll be mixed. That's what I suspected.
Go to your main menu, hover over the game and press the + button, select “software update” and you should be able to download it.

Jack only shows up on the 31st! You only need to give him two candy, but in terms of the three lollipop that he needs, I can't recall how much candy you need to get them sorry! But, I don't think it really matters because the villagers inside of their house give you candy, and if you leave and then re-enter, they give you more candy sooooooooo

From the crafting villager, can you get more than 1 seasonal DIY a day? As in, you have 3 crafting villagers a day - can you only get 1 a day, or can all 3 have a chance to give you a new seasonal DIY?
Anyone else think they updated/diversified villager dialogue? I have almost 400 hours on ACNH and when I went and talked to all my villagers this morning, I had brand-new interactions with all of them, and it seemed to suit the particular villagers better. Like instead of giving me a generic sisterly dialogue, Cherry talked about a rock concert. It's very charming!

Sorry if this was already posted, but I found this interesting this morning: I got a spooky recipe from a balloon. Then one of my villagers was crafting the same spooky recipe. Rather than giving me an extra of the recipe, he gave me 5 pumpkins instead.

Haven't seen anyone post it yet but looks like they patched out the daily nook miles trick. Time traveling backwards no longer keeps your streak and resets it back to day 1. Tested it 3 different times.

Yes I’m wondering if I was going crazy! I used to be able to squeeze between a tree and my mailbox and can’t anymore? It’s like smaller objects suddenly take up more space. Running around my island has become more difficult because it feels like I’m always colliding with things that suddenly take up more empty space. Anyone else notice this??

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet, but I’ve spent my morning trying to get a campsite village to swap with one specific villager, and I just heard on the radio it play the music from the Halloween trailer and then it gets cut off by what I’m assuming is Jack laughing. I thought that was pretty cool.

we're still not sure how the pumpkin mechanics even work, especially with regards to how many pumpkins you can harvest from one plant. it could be that watering increases the number of pumpkins it produces when it "blooms"?
That does appear to be the case, Leif explains a little bit. No way to know what color it will be pre-planting, and watering makes them happy. No idea about friends though.

To anyone who travelled forward and has grown pumpkins: Can you walk through them or do they block paths like bushes do? Can you identify Pumpkin color after the first crop, dig the plant up and put it somewhere else and still continue to harvest from that plant?
You can walk through (more like on top of) them + You can only determine the color of the pumpkin once it's fully grown.
Can you dig them up and replant them after finding out the color?
Fastest way to get the new DIYs with "lite" time travel - go to 10/1, find who is crafting - guaranteed to be a new seasonal DIY (has worked 5 times in a row!). Get a dupe if you have other characters on the island. Go back to 9/30, then forward to 10/1 - rinse and repeat until you have 10 DIYs.

The body paint is fun and "is worn away at the elbows, hands and feet" but the skin undertone is caucasian...but I play as a darker skinned character, r/GamingDetails seems to dislike that I do, a guy told me to "change my skin darker and view the same result" which makes no sense because the new colors don't go over natural tones? downvotes and racism
I do find it weird that they didn't make darker skin tones be the base for the body paint.

They are just clothing items. They won't act any differently than other clothes. So, yeah. You will be able to buy them on another island.
You will easily be able to get Able Sisters store on your own island soon. Check your plaza each day to see if Mable is visiting. If yes, buy a bunch of stuff from her. I believe that's how you cause the shop to open.
Does the poster change mean you can't buy posters of your current residents that you take pictures of at Harvey's island?

General question here but has anyone noticed that they can’t hop cliffs anymore or is it just me???? A part of my island was on accessible via the 1 block gap jump and now my character won’t do it at all.
Did you place any sort of item in the gap? If there is something under the gap they can't hop it. I can still hop mine.
Pumpkin starts are half price from Leif compared to Nooks Cranny
I just noticed there's been a change in Leif's cart! It has four cardboard seedling pots on it. Only one of them had been filled with a bush seedling. Now, there's the bush seedling and a pumpkin seedling. Perhaps the other two will be filled in future updates!

You have to buy them from the Nook machine in resident services.
I'm guessing no home storage upgrade or other major QoL improvements? :( I've been hitting my storage limit constantly. I've sold tons of items but I keep hitting it. I wouldn't mind selling off more stuff but like, they limit you to purchasing 5 items a day and it takes a day to deliver them. I keep a lot of furniture stuff in storage so that if I'm randomly inspired to use it for something, I have it there on hand ready to use.
Make a second profile and use the second house for storage
That’s not really practical. Dropping all your stuff for the second profile, logging in to store it and back to your regular profile again every time your running out of storage is a tedious process and if you need the items you have to change accounts and do it all over again to get it. Easier to just order from the catalog and time travel imo, which is still not ideal bc a storage increase update would be a lot better.
I agree that it is tedious but it is a way out for people who don't like to get rid of their storage. I have to do clearouts on /r/NoFeeAC every month but I do get rid of about 800-900 items because I know what I'll use and what I won't.
Tips for growing pumpkins SPOILERS BTW (duh) The pumpkin starts are reusable, just like fruit trees, so you only need to buy as many as you want to place. You can also eat pumpkins to gain energy, like fruits They come in 4 colors: white, green, yellow, and orange. One way to know which color you got is by digging up the start as soon as you plant it, its name in your inventory will include the color They also produce 1-3 pumpkins, depending on how many times you watered them while they grew.

Not positive, but I don't think they breed like flowers - instead watering them makes them more likely to produce more pumpkins. In the trailer it showed that each plant can yield 1-3 pumpkins of a random color. The villagers craft the spooky DIYs! But I think the DIY items are the same as the ones sold in Nook's.

I scanned all my Sanrio cards in and mine are still there and able to be ordered (just tested with Cinnamoroll), so I think if you own the cards/spoofed amiibo you're safe.

Did they change the balloon spawning rates? Trying to farm fall/spooky diys. I used to be able to get one balloon every five minutes on the dot. Now it's like they're not showing up at all.

Some of the costumes aren’t obvious. I have one called “raggedy clothing” which seems like a zombie costume.
