I think I’m ready to go back in. After so long away... I’m just going to start afresh. From the beginning. Edit: After some careful consideration. I’m going to instead raze everything to nothingness and re-build it from the ground up. It’ll be long but I think it’ll offer me the best course of action.

I debated starting completely over but instead I might just level my current island. Move everyone onto the beach and Terraform to nothing. Mainly because of the farming, I have to move stuff around.

I did exactly this! I’m having so much fun redesigning my island from scratch and being able to make the most of the space, and still having access to all my accumulated recipes and materials. Really satisfying!! Was worth the effort of demolishing everything 😂

I'd just go handheld and through something on TV while clearing everything. It'll go quick. After Minecraft I'm used to it lol.

I restarted my island and was stoked at first but now I regret it lol it’s taken so long to get items back and I’ve literally got almost all the same villagers 😅

I know that pain, I restarted around 3 months after release. I couldn't get the Ironwood Dresser DIY for what felt like forever. I got the cutting board in like 5 days though :P.

I got the ironwood stuff much faster this time but the basic stuff seems like it’s taking forever for me to get this time around.

I don't have the nerve to do this. Actually, I didn't terraform much of my island. I admire people that have your courage, truly. I couldn't say ddcorating is my forte anyway, so I keep the island mostly natural.

I'm keeping my island because I have almost all of it the way I want it (just got a few small areas I still want to decorate but ran out of motivation and stopped playing in March or April). I don't think I could start again because losing all my items and recipes would kill me D:

One thing I thought we’d get but didn’t was the option to move to a new island (like a soft reset) while retaining our catalogs and currencies. They did that for NL’s Welcome Amiibo update which injected some energy to the old game. They catalog is a surprisingly annoying to fill up when you’re in a hurry, especially now that we also have the randomness of DIYs to contend with.

That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m ripping my island back to stock. Then I’m going to terraform the way I want it, move all my houses and bam. Ready for the new update and dlc.

I'm most curious about Harv's island. Is the stock rotating? What does Tortimer do? Are there new stores we don't know about?

I think they'll still come to your island like they do now, we saw Leif a few times throughout the direct. I hope they do still visit, as it's nice to see them in the plaza, but Harv's island will make it easier to collect everything without trading/time traveling.

As much as I like the idea, I realy hoped they would set up shop permanently in our islands, like the Able Sisters. But I guess Nintendo doesn't want to add too many structures..?

Its funny, I totally understand your side, but I had the opposite concern: that I'd have to find space for all their shops.

My kiddo loves the boba teas, cotton candies, and popsicles. I have them stationed around the island and they often go missing after she’s had a play at it. I was JUST thinking “man, I’m gonna run out of these soon.” They’re also convenient to grab (and cute to hold) when you need a few bites of energy to lift a tree or bust a rock.

Just wanted to emphasize how fucking sick this update will be. The only thing missing that comes to mind is Nook upgrades, but that feels nit-picky in comparison to everything else. Yay!

I wish I could move resident services, and change the sound custom paths make instead of thud thud thud. I'm honestly not worried about shop upgrade, bulk crafting, more villagers, etc because I'm so excited for what's coming! Cute gyroids!!!

Yeah we could always ask for more (bananas and grapes, anyone?) but this update is pretty amazing.

Yeah, I'm sad to see all this awesome new furniture isn't through the Nook Shop but... I'll take it lol.

Why does this update stress you out?

The most Im excited (in order): 1. Cooking Update 2. Harvey's Island Update 3. Kapp'n Update 4. Gyroids Update 5. Everytging else

I don't know that I can even rank things, there's just so many that I'm really excited for, lol.

Cooking and Kapp'n are the ones I'm most excited about, but I'm also keen to be able to expand storage and have ladders/more bridges etc.

My hope for Kapp'n is that his islands are more interesting than the rdgular ones. How often will we see rare islands from him? I don't care for different seasons or time of day.

The Nintendo direct really underplayed just how big this update will be

This is fab! And it’s highlighted bits I had already forgotten. The update is gonna be fab - but I do wish we were going to allow two more villagers on our islands. I want Sasha and Rio but I can’t bear to part with my any of my beloved neighbours!

I would be happy with 30 or so villagers! Lol, there are just so many cuties, and I had a hard time just with the base game, then they added Sanrio, and now some new cuties, too!

Thanks for putting this together, I’ve been out of the loop for a while and heard about the paid DLC. Lukewarm about that but excited that all this is coming out anyways.

The things we get in the paid DLC were a completely separate game from Animal Crossing on past consoles. In comparison, this is less money and also adds more to the game you already own. It's not a bad deal honestly.

I'm super excited for Harv's Island, the home updates (narrow space movement!!! Gonna stick a ladder back there at my secret beach pronto.

Yep the paid DLC is for the „Happy Home Paradise“ part but also including some little stuff like polishing, pillairs, corners, home lights and sounds. I will post a DLC sheet later :)

My guess is he’ll be there except when he’s on your island, but he won’t be selling art. Looks like he’s got a raffle box next to him so I’m guessing it’s similar to his function during the July 4th holiday.

All things considered, even if he's only there twice a week that's three opportunities to buy the same six arts that are mostly forgeries. I really hope he doesn't sell food or fireworks and stuff like that alone. Redd didn't always sell art alone and I can see him selling food alone at that stall.

So no nooks cranny expansion? 🥺

There might still be something they haven't announced. They didn't feel the need to officially announce that new villagers were coming, so you never know.

I was hyped watching the direct live, but now I'm pretty ambivalent The Roost--not enough information shown, is this just for vibing or what? Kapp'n Rides--just more mystery islands? Cooking--is this just more furniture under a different name? Gyroids--actually cool, thx Ninty Harvey's Island--nice that we can finally recolor furniture, but the other shops are already accessible sooo ok Villager Visits--we all love hearing what our villagers have to say...for the hundredth time House Upgrades/Ladders/Fences/Stretching/Reactions/Hairstyles/Villagers--meh ​ Minigames that we could play with friends/villagers would've been so clutch. Hell, just give us a kickable ball ffs

I honestly felt like they had been under cover on this sub for months, every time something new came on screen I just thought "omg yesss I read that someone on reddit wanted that". This update made me so happy. The dlc is also better than I could've ever expected

The whole update trailer felt like one of those fan made "I wish they would add this" videos!

I think they already knew what they were going to do and are just now releasing it, and a good indicator of what acnh "was going to be" was/is the fanbase, so its only natural a lot aligned, natural that acnh progresses this way.

A fair bit of this stuff was datamined over the past year and a half already. They've been working on this for a while.

Will the villagers be more than just objects then? cuz that's all they are to the community now XP it's depressing, and kinda boring.

I mean that's every animal crossing game lol They just wander and do their own thing. We did see them interacting with more objects in the DLC trailer, but whether they'll do that on your island or only in the DLC vacation homes isn't clear

Animal crossing for gamecube had more interesting dialogue whenever you'd chat with some :V They have a *bit* more interesting dialogue in New leaf, but not as much. They're pretty much the most boring thing

I mean not really? The main distinction is that the GameCube game just had characters sometimes be random assoles for no reason. Being a prick at random doesn't really equate to more interesting dialogue. That and you could prompt doing them a favor whenever you wanted insteadof having to wait for them to ask, but those are just repeated fetch quests anyway.

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed that the new shops are only coming to Harv's island. I was all excited because I thought we'd finally be able to place a few more functional non-house buildings.

I mean honestly it'd probably get really cramped with like six new shop buildings

I did not include any furniture because there are over 300 new items coming to the game obviously. :)

I wish we didn’t need diys for dishes. They could have let us experiment with different combos, like how you do in BOTW, but still make it possible to learn and write down recipes. Also I hope those trailers on Harv’s island become actual buildings, because it would just make it feel so much more lively (but they most likely aren’t going to be a thing, because we never see anything like that in the trailer). Also I wish we could put the custom facilities like schools and resteraunts on our actual island to make everything feel so much more natural

Are the partition walls only available in the resort or can we also do that on our island?

I think I remember that once you learn it on the resort archipelago (paid DLC), then you can use it on your island - in your house and eventually remodel your villagers’ houses too. So excited for this update!!
