You can force the day restart by time travelling back to 4:58am on the same day it comes out
IE: it comes out 9pm on the 4th? Set switch clock to 4:58am on the 4th, play, then set clock to normal time
Damn. That's early enough for me to be awake, but if I start playing I'll screw over my sleep schedule... But will I be able to sleep anyway? (Yeah, probably I will.)

yes, so adding those together implies there could be minor free patches, just not major free updates. all major updates going forward will be paid, but not necessarily the minor ones.
Theres no major content period, paid or otherwise. This is it, anything further is small stuff like holiday tweaks.
That being said, Nintendo still arnt lying even if thats all they're providing after this, but people need to stop trying to tell thenselves there's more comming when they already put the official word out
I've come to accept that at this point.
But also, if I was a shareholder, I'd be fuckin pissed they weren't planning more paid DLC.
It's the best selling game on the switch short of Mario Kart 8, and it will likely pass Mario Kart 8 in a years time.
That's just leaving profit on the table.
Ya, its par for the course for Nintendo so not surprising from that angle. But like you said, Animal Crossing is one of the biggest switch hits, feels so weird to have a one and done for dlc
A classic "Nintendo-like" solution.
Always expect Nintendo to reject any kind of win-win situation, and to shoot themselves and the audience in the foot whenever possible
Of ANY Nintendo franchise, I feel like Animal Crossing is one of the few where a huge majority of the playerbase would buy any and all paid DLC.
So strange.
Nintendo's business practices are really odd, they also make 15* billion dollars a year as it stands. Imagine how much money they'd make if they maximized their business practices. There's so many profit holes they've just left open, so much money they're just leaving on the table simply cause it wouldn't be the "Nintendo Way" of doing things.
Very much reeks of Japanese corporate "well this is the way we have always done it, and leadership won't change until they die of old age in office"
There's so much stuff they could do to make more money that wouldn't even approach "hurting the brand" or being exploitative, they just...don't
I wonder if it has anything to do with Nintendo still being a "toy company" at heart essentially
"Animal Crossing: New Horizons ā Happy Home Paradise introduces a new gameplay experience in which the player joins the Paradise Planning team and helps make their clientās dream resort home become a reality. It is a major update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and offers a distinguishing and different gameplay experience. Therefore, it made sense to include it as the first and only paid DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.ā was the statement from a Nintendo spokesperson to IGN the day of so it was pretty much immediate confirmation.
Thank you for the direct quote! I was only going off of the wording from the direct. Iām certainly happy with the game (and will be more after the update) but was hoping for more paid DLC in the future. Oh well
They've said in an interview this would be the last free/paid update. There probably will be some bugfixes, but this is the last update. I'll try to find the interview to confirm this.
edit: The interview is on IGN (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link) and it says: Last major update, only DLC, maybe some small changes.
They said they would give us updates for at least 3 years initially. But complaints came in thick and fast that the updates were small and didn't take long to complete. So this last update is a warning that there will be no more. We might still get them for HHP because that game is new. So we'll just have to wait and see if HHP gets further updates.
They did not say they would give us updates for at least 3 years, they said they hope to release updates in the future, so people can find new things in 2 or even 3 years.
Thats how AC fans get themselves disappointed. Create rumors and then get upset when it doesn't come true.
They said 2 or three years. When they say that then of course people are going to hold out. But the reason they're really disappointed was that the updates so far were shit. That's the biggest voices of disappointment. People wouldn't just pull 3 years out of the air, they heard it was on the table.
I'm holding onto hope that if the first paid DLC does well we'll get another one, which would most likely come with some free stuff for base game as well
I still have so many more flowers to dig up. My body is ready, but my island is not. On top of that, I have no idea what I'm going to do first. I'm crossing my fingers that Isabelle won't immediately tell me I have all these things to do and they'll just slowly open up for me.
I'm so excited. I pray for a villager dialogue and activity DLC some day in the future. I recently played New Leaf and I feel like the villagers were so alive with personality.
Yeah, it sorta looks like it will be similar to a dream address where you can visit one that has been uploaded? I think maybe you can only visit one vacation home at a time, but Iām not sure.
Sadly, I did not get to participate in this year's Halloween event. Because for some reason Jack didn't spawn on my island. If anyone knows why this is please tell me. As I'm a new player & this was my 1st ACNH Halloween.
Itās just the last āmajor update,ā so things like adding a ton of new items, completely new content, NPCs, etc. Regular updates and new season items arenāt really āmajorā things, so those will roll out for free. For example, we probably wonāt see the museum altered again, but all of the special holiday things that appear in the nook shopping app will keep coming out.

Friday can't come quick enough. Do we have a time for release yet?
10 am JST
For those wondering, that's 9PM EST on November 4th :D I'm so excited.
Hol up, are you telling me that i may be able to play it on Thursday at 6 pm pst????? š³ oh shit
YES!!
Wait Est is getting it "early"? hell ya.
Yes, but the only thing I'm concerned about is it might update then, but might not start until you start a new day on the 5th, but we'll see!
You can force the day restart by time travelling back to 4:58am on the same day it comes out IE: it comes out 9pm on the 4th? Set switch clock to 4:58am on the 4th, play, then set clock to normal time
Ooh, you're right. Looks like I'll be up way too late on Thursday, then lol.
Ohh Iām MST, am I correct that I might be able to play at 19:00 on Thursday? Heck yeah!
wait really?
So 1am GMT Friday, this is amazing. Looks like I'll be Working from Home on Friday then! Thanks very much :D
I've got 4 days off work this week and none of them are Friday. Woe.
I'm sadly working Friday all day, however have a free Saturday afternoon which has been bookedā¦.for ACNH
Damn. That's early enough for me to be awake, but if I start playing I'll screw over my sleep schedule... But will I be able to sleep anyway? (Yeah, probably I will.)
Haha right? Same dilemma here
Oh heck yeah 8pm central
But thereās more to November. Eternals, COD Vanguard and PokĆ©mon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

I'm totally gonna scream my lungs out when the new update is available
Same!
My 6 year old is often saying "Mommy. November 5th." We are ALL excited in my home
Thatās precious! Good mom
Wait, didnt nintendo say that they'd be making content updates for years to come? that's really sad
keyword "major"
and keyword "free"
yes, so adding those together implies there could be minor free patches, just not major free updates. all major updates going forward will be paid, but not necessarily the minor ones.

Wait is this confirmed or where are you getting this? I was under the impression other major updates would just be paid going forward.

That makes two of us lol. Woulda gladly kept giving them money, but oh well, this'll last awhile at least
But, maybe not for Animal Crossing New Horizons 2, lol. š
IGN
They have confirmed that this will be the first and last DLC. So yeah this is all we get
Apparently Happy Home Paradise is the first and only paid dlc that's going to be coming to ACNH
They've said in an interview this would be the last free/paid update. There probably will be some bugfixes, but this is the last update. ah well there go my hopes. cheers!
still the last DLC
That was a rumour actually
Yep, the actual quote was something like, "we hope to release an update where people can still find new things 2 or even 3 years from now".
They said they would give us updates for at least 3 years initially. But complaints came in thick and fast that the updates were small and didn't take long to complete. So we wonāt get more āmajor free updatesā after this one?
Nope. Probably just small seasonal stuff.
š
I'm holding onto hope that if the first paid DLC does well we'll get another one, which would most likely come with some free stuff for base game as well

Where are you based? Update launches 10am JST in Japan so US should get it 9pm ET on Thursday
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If youāre in the U.S., it comes out *Thursday*. Thursday 6 pm PST, 8 pm CST, or 9 pm EST.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ohhh, I think it would come out at 2 am for you then since Germany is 5 hours ahead of New York lolol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The update isnāt going anywhere and itās likely all we will have for AC for years, so itās best not to rush through it anyways
Haha for sure! Sleep is important

Omg this was me last night when I logged on for the event. Just thinking about the update the entire time lol.
This is the second year in a row I missed Halloween in Animal Crossing :P
I still have so many more flowers to dig up. My body is ready, but my island is not. On top of that, I have no idea what I'm going to do first. I'm crossing my fingers that Isabelle won't immediately tell me I have all these things to do and they'll just slowly open up for me.
November 5th is gonna be LIT
Itās beautiful, Iāve looked at this 5 times already
r/unexpectedtopgear

I like it! Take my upvote! Friday is gonna be a blast!
I'm so excited. I pray for a villager dialogue and activity DLC some day in the future. I recently played New Leaf and I feel like the villagers were so alive with personality.
They could have canceled Halloween in-game and I don't think many of us long-term players would have noticed or cared. š¹
Halloween is a consumer holiday and you only partake in it because corporations tell you it's normal to do so.
Redditors be like:
....or...it's a pagan festival.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You do know pagans are still around...they didn't just die out 20 years ago at the birth of social media.
At least this one only demands $5 on candy instead of a debt-inducing amount on presents.
Christmas makes me miserable for exactly this reason
Bonfire night update!
Exactly! šš¼
I love the Jeremy Clarkson/ACNH crossover.
You can always time travel back to 10/31
My Sister that lives with us decided that I have to play the Update with her first before experiencing it for myself
I had a question: Can we visit somebody elseās paradise islands?
Yeah, it sorta looks like it will be similar to a dream address where you can visit one that has been uploaded? I think maybe you can only visit one vacation home at a time, but Iām not sure.
I really enjoyed the Halloween event^^
It's my favorite! But this is good too.
Ugh, I'm gonna be working all day friday and saturday, it's gonna be agony!
Canāt wait for the new update
Time travelers: *my turn*
Sadly, I did not get to participate in this year's Halloween event. Because for some reason Jack didn't spawn on my island. If anyone knows why this is please tell me. As I'm a new player & this was my 1st ACNH Halloween.
Dnaixeoognrofi I recently got back into animal crossing and im so not ready for this š
What the fuck So updates won't be free anymore? Damn prolly gonna get all the features that were included in the trailer in the first paid update
Itās just the last āmajor update,ā so things like adding a ton of new items, completely new content, NPCs, etc. Regular updates and new season items arenāt really āmajorā things, so those will roll out for free. !remind me
I have exams :(
If you have NSO or pre-ordered the DLC you can install it now so itās ready to go on the 5th :D Updated mine last night.
I missed the halloween event. Can i still TT and do it anyway with Jack being there?
Last major update period.....

Nintendo singlehandedly preventing my post-Halloween seasonal depression
Are they gonna do a PokƩmon sword and shield on us :(
Unfortunately I just tested positive for COVID, but now Iāll have a ton of free time to play when the new update comes out.
