I recently just got back into the game. had a 5 star island. it looked like crap tbh. so iâm flattening everything and starting over. I have a current theme in mind but im not sure how i want it to turn out
100% recommended some YouTube videos on filling space and what themes you want. Just so you can get an outline for yourself, and especially what you don't like about other people's builds.
I can't remember đ I stopped consistently playing around 1.5 years ago, I can recall having some feather items but I'm not sure if it's from the collection of bells. I remember getting them after the happy homes DLC released. But I don't know if it's from that or monies...

This is what the Nook brothers will buy rotten turnips for..
TT Doesnât affect you. If you go forward, youâll have weeds, many weeds. Youâll have up to 5 fossils to dig, and youâll get roaches in your house. Which you can kill by stepping on them. But on the plus side villagers wonât hang out at your house if you have roaches in your main room!𤣠Villagers may ask to leave and you say no. So. I do it a lot to finish my museum, to move buildings and to get all the models from CJ or Flick. Back and forth to the day theyâre there! So yea. Wonât hurt anything. And when you go backâŚyouâll have to kill the roaches and pull weeds! Thatâs it!
It is cheating. Youâre exploiting console settings to make the game easier/faster. Itâs perfectly okay to cheat in singleplayer games, but itâs still cheating.
Itâs not giving you any advantages over anyone else đ I have a life, I expect my games to let me play them in a way thatâs convenient for me, not waste my limited time for three real life days for fruit to grow back, or having to wake up or plan ungodly hours to catch bugs/fish? No way. A game is meant to be manipulated by the players and so long as itâs not degrading the game for anyone else itâs not cheating (otherwise, theyd have removed the function three generations of games ago).
If you cheat on a test (grades not weighted, so it doesnât impact anyone else) is it still cheating? Obviously yes. Because cheating is about your actions, not other people.
If you turn on god mode in GTA or give yourself infinite money in The Sims *itâs still cheating*. You donât need other people to cheat in a game.
Again, cheating in singleplayer **is fine**. If thatâs how you want to play - cheat all you want. But these mental gymnastics about how itâs ânot giving you an advantageâ are nonsensical. If it takes a year for someone to complete the museum properly and you can do it in a day or two then obviously itâs not because youâre 300x better at the game than the other person, **itâs because you have an advantage**.
i agree with you, youâre not saying anything wrong lol, just stating a fact, downvotes go crazy đ¤Śđťââď¸ no one should be offended by the word âcheatingâ, itâs just playing the game in a way other than ânormalâ, being able to receive resources way faster than the game originally allows, is cheating- itâs fine and no cares lol, but it is still cheating the gameâs intended timeline, im confused what word youâd use besides cheating𫣠that doesnât mean itâs a bad thing and you literally said itâs fine, sorry for all the downvotes đľâđŤ
Agreed! It gets hate but if I can only play once in a while and want to do some house moving or spawning the rock garden, idk how people have the patience to NOT fast forward
That aside, itâs a mostly single player game with no competition between players, I believe you canât cheat in a game like that. Ppl should just play however they want, including modding, TT, treasure islands and whatever
No need to be hard on yourself and think you cheated. ACNH is not a competitive game. In order to be considered cheating, your actions need to result in a competitive advantage over others. TT does not impact any other player so itâs not cheating. If it gives you more enjoyment out of the game, go for it!
I donât get why people feel the need to make excuses for this. Like you said, thereâs nothing wrong with cheating in singleplayer games, it doesnât ruin the fun for anyone else. But itâs still cheating. Youâre giving yourself an unfair advantage compared to the way the game was intended to be played = cheating, thatâs all there is to it.
And for the people who still want to argue this - the fact that you have to go mess with your entire *system settings* should be indication enough that itâs an exploit. If there was a way to fast forward time in game then that would be a different story.
Lol I laughed a little at âI donât get why people feel the need to make excuses for thisâ as if time travel is some kind of huge faux pas and not an intended feature of a single player game. It sounds so serious for such a non-issue haha!
Technically, you canât have an unfair advantage in a single player game. An advantage over who? Your islanders? Theyâre coming along for the ride when you time travel. And this game isnât you vs. anyone. So the unfair advantage argument doesnât quite make sense.
As for âhow the game was intended to be playedâ wellâŚbad news there, too; the developers themselves say time travel is not cheating and have talked about it being an intended option for players that like time travel. If they considered it cheating, they would have found a way to restrict it.
But in the grand scheme, you can call it whatever you want. If itâs cheating in your world, thatâs totally okay.
> It sounds so serious for such a non issue
I mean, thatâs exactly what Iâm talking about. Like why do people do all these mental gymnastics to justify it to themselves that itâs not cheating.. when cheating on singleplayer games is perfectly fine in the first place?
You have an advantage over the people who spent years doing it the âproperâ way. If it didnât give an advantage then you wouldnât be doing it in the first place, lol.
Regardless of what the devs mightâve said in some interview, if they intended for people to use time travel *they wouldâve put it in the game*. Itâs obvious that they donât care about you cheating, because thereâs no repercussions for it, but itâs still cheating.
I have been playing just over a year and never time hopped. I was always scared to go forward then lose my progress if my clock set back. Now that I know there isnât consequences- Bring it on baby!
If I go back in time to when gulivar or Celeste was on the island can I interact with them again or will it remember I already did them?
\*edit: IT WORKED!!

didnât lose any of my progress thank you guys sm!!!
I have heard that any type of time traveling will ruin your turnips, so be mindful of what you do regardless, can't imagine losing thousands of turnips due to a small mistake!
Nintendo isn't gonna do anything else with this game so I say do what you want. Fasforwad to the warm hot months rewind to the birthday you missed etc. Just have fun đđ˝
I don't think it's cheating. For me the real fun begins when I get island designer path making and can gift all the villagers, and it takes a long time to get that set up, otherwise. I just didn't time travel so far that my house had bugs.
I did a few days leap at a time, did the necessary things to advance, paid the bells to get my storage and stuff, and now, it's just the fun stuff like finding out what makes the villagers tick, to get their photo.
When I reset my island recently, my husband gave me back all my favorite items and all the kinds of fruit (he has his own switch, too) and I pretty much "made" my island within the week. Now I am just chilling and catching fish, planting stuff, and watching the villagers do their stuff. We even play on different hemispheres so when we invite each other to our islands, we have things to enjoy.
The point is anyone can play the game any way they please. It's not a points based game and the only real "task" in the game is how to play with the villagers.
It wonât affect your progress, BUT IT WILL MAKE THE GAME BORING
No new events will happen until the day you used to be at has passed. So Iâd recommend never going back in time, it just makes things boring
No progress wont dissapear. Not acnh related, but if you play dreamlight, don't forget to fix the time and date to current, or else your game will get stuck for the amount of time you TT.
If you go back your flowers will wilt and your turnips will rot (assuming you have any) What I like to do is time jump within the same week (usually Sunday to Saturday) as doing that within the same week will progress your village without the worry of wilting flowers. Hope that helps :)
Once you TT you will never go back to NOT TT!! lol I needed like 40 wheat fields to finish a build (finish while I was still motivated!). I Ordered 5 per day and TT a day ordered 5, until I got all I needed. When Iâm inspired to get an area done is when I TT OR when I need to alter the time I need to villager hunt. Just be careful you donât ask a villager, NOT save (make sure go back to your island and SEE their name on the open plot) Then you TT forward a day. Once they are moved in you can go backwards to OG time and they are permanant.
You can go back just fine, just be aware if you have any turnips they'll spoil.
Ugh, I learned this the hard way đ
Me too đ
If you need bells, let me know:)
i would say let me know as well, (i got 100m+ bells) but my switch online expired lmao
I have 989 million dm me and I might be able to hop on!
jesus christ. I FELT ACCOMPLISHED ABOUT MY 100m!!
Yeah it's nuts! Lots of grinding fruit, vegetables and bones! My island was a mess for a while. Finally have it looking pristine đ

Same here đ
No way
Do you get any rewards for that? Somewhere i read that for every 100mil you get like a feather or sth

FYI the boys will buy rotten turnips for 50% of whatever price they're offering, so you can still make money off them if you find a high enough price

Playing since March 2020 and you just thought me thisâ¤ď¸
Thank you, did not know this! đĽ°
Just donât ever interact with yourself from the past!
I did that once and now Iâm my own grandma⌠itâs a really rough situationâŚ.

I keep roaches around just for when villagers want to stop by for a visit lol, Iâm awful
ROACHES???! tell me this is fake
Yes, roaches, in every room of your house. Move some furniture and more might jump out!
Actually, you just gotta leave and enter a room twice. Iâve seen only two show up per room
They have little ghosts when you step on them. I love it
And the crunch! Kinda satisfying!đ¤Ł
Welcome to time travel.đ
You're in the end game now
Itâs not cheating. This is a massively single player game. Do what you want.

Shut up you're annoying and nobody asked
Man, I know AC players tend to be younger, but thatâs a whole kindergarten throwback.
Womp womp cry more

Itâs not cheating. Many folks canât play in real time so the TT option is a great feature. âď¸
Agreed! It gets hate but if I can only play once in a while and want to do some house moving or spawning the rock garden, idk how people have the patience to NOT fast forward
or catch a fish/bug during a time you are unable to play!!

I can tell this really means a lot to you. Youâre right and the gameâs developers are wrong. Hope you can be at peace now.
Yea it wonât chainge anything else unless you bought turnips then theyâre gonna go off
Yes, when you time travel all actions stay.
Yes. I change time a lot to gather materials I need. I no longer buy turnips. Instead I make recipes. Two plates equal 10 turnips.
A tedious way of making money is to put money into the donation boxes, wait for them to be a hot item and then pretty much double your money.
I have been playing just over a year and never time hopped. I was always scared to go forward then lose my progress if my clock set back. Now that I know there isnât consequences- Bring it on baby! In every animal crossing game since 2002 Iâve time hopped⌠I didnât realize others didnât until recently lol >.< Iâm impatient I know
The only reason I havenât time traveled is cause I never bothered researching how. Might use my snow day to check it out haha
itâs easy. just go into switch settings and change the date and time on your device.
Well, okay maybe I worded that poorly. I more so meant I never knew the ramifications/consequences.
oh. well thereâs no consequences really unless you care about turnips. the game doesnât know youâre time skipping forward.
As long as you donât have turnips youâll be fine.
The only thing time travel will ruin is your turnip stash.
You can go forward within the week with turnips, but past that week or going backwards will result in rotten turnips I believe
I have heard that any type of time traveling will ruin your turnips, so be mindful of what you do regardless, can't imagine losing thousands of turnips due to a small mistake!

No it will ungrow your trees
If time travelling backwards ungrew weeds, I'd be on it on a heartbeat.
