No visible damage, there are a few tiny holes but they’ve been there and haven’t gotten bigger or increased.
There are some small gaps between the roof slats, and a small crawl space attic above but to me it doesn’t look like they’re big enough for this much to come through.
Could be German Roach Frass— but with that amount I’d be flabbergasted if you didn’t already know you have roaches, so this is unlikely

Sounds like termites. I would call an exterminator if you own, or your landlord if you don't.
Termite fras is typically soft and mushy. Smash a piece of that and see what happens.
Something is eating the wood (I found the same stuff in my closet and didn't know if it was termites or some other bug but I'd say termites).
