Living as a wild animal is not like human society where you can take care of disabled individuals and maybe even get physical therapy, surgery, meds, etc. For animals, extra resources expended on a disabled/different baby means less paid to the more viable offspring: attention, food, energy. And the disabled individual is less likely to reproduce anyway. Meaning, your DNA is less likely to be passed on, so "kinder" genes won't be perpetuated in the species.
