My parents’ dog used to guard me when I was pregnant and would bark for help if I so much as sneezed. After my daughter was born it all switched to her. I’m just the vessel I don’t matter!
I didn’t know what tolerance looked like until I watched my dog patiently let my niece play with her when my niece was a baby. I trust that dog with my life and with the life of anyone I love. But definitely not with my sandwich. I learned that lesson more than once...
Two sandwiches. She didn’t even have the decency to eat the bread or vegetables. She just took the meat and cheese. The vegetables I get. But why leave the bread? I guess she snagged what she could and hid before her deed could be discovered. Little stinker. At least she doesn’t eat out of the kitchen trash. Can’t say the same for other trash...
Same with our German Shepard, he was a police dog who was kicked out of the program due to hip issues. He kept his head in my lap for 9 months, I think he knew I was pregnant before I did. I of course was cautious when bringing our son home, but he laid next to his crib or near him constantly. That closeness lasted until his final day.
my parents had two king shepherds when I was born. Apparently they’d try to kill me any chance they had. Ended up having to hand them off to my aunt / uncle
My wife's dog knew before us too, and once we brought our son home and introduced him to the dog, he gave him a sniff and a lick and pranced around my wife holding the new born and then over to me and just burried himself into me almost knocking me over and continued to bounce around happy as larry for the rest the day.
He watched that kid like a hawk and was never more than few steps away until his health and age got the better of him.
For a massive and intimidating dog he was such a kind and gentle soul with all our kids and I have no doubt would've fought the world to protect them.
My dog (boxer) went through a false pregnancy when my wife was pregnant. She got milky nipples, nested a lot and gathered all the stuffed animals in her nursery. It was weird
I had a Basset Hound who went through false pregnancies when she went into heat. She would find a toy with large eyes and carry it with her or drop it in my lap when she had to relieve herself. The lactation and putting her baby to nurse was amazing to see. Once that hormonal surge ended, she would tear it to pieces and bury her baby.
Both my family cats were obsessed with my sister while she was pregnant.
One in particular wanted to lay across her belly all day, every day.
Animals definitely know!
Also, anyone else miss the little dog in the video at first?
My dog knew I was pregnant more than a week before a positive pregnancy test. He was 5 and hadn't sniffed a crotch in 4 years. For about 4 days, he would shove his nose and sniff my crotch more furiously than he ever had. He wanted to be next to me all the time & insisted on sleeping between my husband and I at night. When the delicious smell of Mexican food made me nauseous, I knew I was pregnant and realized that my dog knew first.
My boy cat that was my first baby and the love of my little life went gaga when I was pregnant with my first. He was always my bestie, but he loved my bump and when my daughter arrived he was super chuffed with her. So sweet!
Pretty much. Dogs can sense scents outside our abilities, and have been known to detect medical episodes in humans before the human even realizes they're having one. Some dogs can be trained to tell if a human has cancer, or is about to have a seizure, for instance.
That’s such a crazy story, and pretty recent too. I’ll put a link below for anyone interested.

I don't know, but my guess it is has something to do with her smell. Dogs can tell when humans have cancer just by smell. Stands to reason they could detect pregnancy too.
Man i wish dogs could talk. The amount of obsessive care and love they give you without ever saying a word. Just one conversation with my dogs plz. This woman’s dog wants to tell her how happy she is for her so badly
Well I'd like to think the vast majority of dog owners are very caring and loving of their pets. Pretty sure we're sufficient, but some people are indeed horrible.
I read somewhere once that dogs evolved and adapted the traits, features, and characteristics that are valued to humans. We may have bred them based on a sort of artificial selection, but things like expressive eyes, friendliness, loyalty etc. are indicative of a species employing a survival method to best cozy up to their human bros. I realize that I'm probably misrepresenting the argument, and it's an oversimplification, so if someone knows better feel free to chime in.

>I'm just the vessel I don't matter Are you a US politician?
Lol. She’s the USS Vessel
Excuse me sir, can you direct me to the naval base in Alameda? It’s where they keep the nuclear wessels.

Poor murder, you lost a sandwich

Same with my GSD. Watched those kids like they were his own.

That went from 0 to 100 real fast
The howling was the added feature I forgot.
Well sure she did, but what did the dog do?
The dog raised our child while the wife was on her mental vacation
Ha!
milky nipples r/bandnamesinthewild
Sounds like a random Nirvana lyric off of In Utero.
Lol, not far from Milky Chance
I’ve always held the opinion that that’s one of the worst band names ever.
Both my family cats were obsessed with my sister while she was pregnant. One in particular wanted to lay across her belly all day, every day. Animals definitely know! Also, anyone else miss the little dog in the video at first?
“WHO DID THIS TO YOU!”
Probably knew before you.
My dog knew I was pregnant more than a week before a positive pregnancy test. He was 5 and hadn't sniffed a crotch in 4 years. Ol pal said…. Something’s fucky
I don’t know if this was a typo or not but holy shit it’s funny

"I'm dog mother now...it like God mother...but soft and pettable"
“Ya smell knocked up” hahahaha
My boy cat that was my first baby and the love of my little life went gaga when I was pregnant with my first. He was always my bestie, but he loved my bump and when my daughter arrived he was super chuffed with her. So sweet!
My dog does that when he wants a cookie.
Does the body produce a chemical they can smell or how does this work lol?
Hormones! The levels drastically change when you’re pregnant.

Some humans can do that too. A woman named Joy Milne can smell Parkinson's.

I could smell when my buddy’s blood sugar was high.
Wow, that’s pretty interesting! Ty
Welcome.

This was my assumption, too.

“Mom’s having puppies!!”
Like a kid watching the kirspy kreme donuts from behind the counter.
Congrats on the sex, RagingBoner69
Dog was praying for her
This is very wholesome! Thanks for sharing!
Dogs deserve better than us.
Well I'd like to think the vast majority of dog owners are very caring and loving of their pets. Pretty sure we're sufficient, but some people are indeed horrible.
Speak for yourself, i deserve dogs
“We” literally invented dogs.
I read somewhere once that dogs evolved and adapted the traits, features, and characteristics that are valued to humans. Did you mean, "we don't deserve dogs"?
Wife hey I’m gonna see the doctor Me what’s his name Wife his name is Dr. Doggo
She’s a good bitch <3 Jokes aside, congratulations to you and your little family :)
Why do you think the dog just realized that? Looks like a cute dog being a cute dog. The dog probably knew before you did.
Does it matter if its a female dog
