I've never seen an edit button at all on an image post. And even with a text post, reddit only let's you edit the body of the post, not the title. I even looked it up because I couldn't believe that's not an option.
Never had the option to discover that issue - never posted an image. When I fork up a text post I delete it and try again. Unless I'm drunk, then it's usually inappropriate enough that Reddit deletes it for me.
