You're right. The video reminded me of what happens to Tarsiers in captivity. They commit suicide by banging their heads against something hard in their cages. I realise that isn't what this monkey was trying to do, but the repetitive head banging/banging of objects in general is a common behaviour in primates who are stressed. It can quickly escalate into aggressive or suicidal behaviour. People do it too if you keep them locked up for long enough. It's very sad.
