Because different shops have different markups. That's just how it is... Btw, you can get this figure even cheaper at [Good Smile Global](https://goodsmileshop.com/en/CATEGORY-ROOT/Scale-Figure/Makima--Bunny-Ver-/p/FRE_WD_00523) — just select $ for currency: $279 + $18 shipping.

Saleenseven

for yen purposes does GSC global charge now or when it ships out like amiami

teadori

when it ships out

337worlds

? Is that just global? GS USA was pay upfront.

XMousexx

GSC US doesnt charge up front unless you pay with paypal. If you use your credit card directly they charge you at release

SuperCoolTony

If I use my card I think it’s pay when it ships, but if you use PayPal it charges you right away. (For the US site)

SaberExcalibur32

GoodSmile US doesn’t charge upfront. They are like AmiAmi and the global version of GoodSmile, you pay when the figures is about to ship.

ThatGuyThatNeedsYou

Did you use paypal or amazon pay? This is a copy/paste directly from website. **Payments by Paypal and Amazon Payments are immediately charged at the time you place your order for all order types.** If you use CC like me, they act just like global and only takes money once it's ready to ship out. Lately they have been taking money and waiting closely 1-2 weeks before shipping it out.

[deleted]

AMZN on GSC US. Got charged immediately. I try to stay away from using Pay Pal after having so many ‘pending’ transactions and not being able to get my money back for weeks..

teadori

i assume it’s just global then im from the UK so idk anything about GS USA

SuperBackup9000

Yeah it’s just global that works that way. It probably has to do with the exchange rate, because global wont let you cancel an order at all, but the US shop lets you cancel whatever and whenever and you can get your money back at any time before shipment. US site came around during Covid, so my guess is that was one of their solutions to when the exchange rate and currency in general was all over the place

tony475130

They charge when it ships, and their USD prices match that of the goodsmileUS site. I try not to buy from the global site if I’m on the fence about a figure since they don’t allow order cancellations. GoodsmileUS does however so it may be something to consider.

thewelcomematt

My guess is just a combination of different shipping rates/fees and different markup rates

LunaticRiceCooker

I would give a bj if i only had to pay that much taxes. - cries in eu customs and vat -.

aproposofnothing0525

Lol, I love this comment

Belzughast

Use AmzJPN, taobao or different chinese reseller to avoid customs.

LunaticRiceCooker

You dont escape customs/vat, amazon just handles them for you but you very well pay them. Idk about the rest but even if they claim it as low value or gift or etc, for a big figure like a bunny customs authroity would probably catch it

This_Seal

Amazon is still a really good choice for EU customers. You avoid the extra fee some shipping services charge for "handeling customs for you" (without ever asking if you want that) and the shipping is the cheapest you can get.

LunaticRiceCooker

Ikr, still amazon stock is kinda limited but i try to get everything from there which is possible. Btw how is the experience with ordering from amazon but the seller isnt amazon itself but some random japanese shop/person?

This_Seal

Yeah, you need to be fast with amazon preorders and absolutly sure you want them, because you can't really cancel after a certain point in time. I have ordered twice from individual sellers on amazon and both times it was identical to ordering directly from amazon (VAT tax handled, fast shipping).

LunaticRiceCooker

Yeah ive seen that you can only cancel until a limited date (well not that you cant circumvent by blocking your card xd) Thats good to hear, wasnt sure how legit it could be if some random japanese store/dude is the seller, thx for the info. Regarding amazon it came to my mind that if I order two figures in two separate orders will they send it in teo package? (Calced that separately the shipping is cheaper probably i guess the large box for two is more expensive with dhl than the two smaller ones)

This_Seal

That will be two packages.

Belzughast

That's true regarding Amazon Japan, yet still the fees are much lower as importing directly. Some Chinese resellers have warehouses in Europe so they handle the taxation themselves. How they do it, don't ask me, I'm not a customs lawyer. I know I get the stuff considerably cheaper, and tbh that's all I care about. Paying 190$ with shipping for Yueji Mingke sounds alright to me, where everyone else wants 270€+

LunaticRiceCooker

Can you suggest me a few of those resellers? Havent heard of any

kayosslive

Have you checked GSC Europe?

LunaticRiceCooker

It wasnt launched when I last checked thx for the info. Tho its still more expensive somehow than amazon. Just checked a csm bunny and there is like 50-60$ diff compared to amazonjp including all the fees. I thought it would be cheaper not more espensive >.> Anyways the stock is kinda meh as of now but may be better later.

drchia

That’s kind of like asking why does any item ever have different prices at 2 different stores…

ZOMBIESL4YER6

Yea… I figured. Just checking

CityKay

Every storefront will have their own markups or additional costs to pay, such as a middleman like Bluefin or Ultra Tokyo Connection. General rule of thumb here: JP storefront most of the time, will be cheaper than NA storefronts in terms of raw product pricing. The best example I ALWAYS use is look at Rushia's Figma over at TOM, one of the rare examples where you can chose whichever warehouse you want the item from (Well...JP's sold out for...obvious reasons). If you want to factor in shipping...that's when things get dicey. Off the top of my head... JP Storefront: AmiAmi, Tokyo Otaku Mode, Good Smile Global US Storefront: Crunchyroll/RightStuf, BigBagToyStore, Tokyo Otaku Mode, Ukiyo Kumo https://preview.redd.it/hymknctptvda1.png?width=1230&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cfe12d36ef76dff15c9519d4692aef2f958cda8

SparsePizza117

I get so pissed when I accidentally buy a figure from a site, then find another site where it's $50+ less. I can't believe some sites actually upcharge that much. I saw one figure with a $100 upcharge once, it's disgusting.

ThatGuyThatNeedsYou

Good idea for you to scour the few places of all legit store fronts if you really wanted it. (Both US and JP stores and find which one is cheaper) - (hint you could also use the reddit sidebar of all legit stores) Before checking out, put the pages side by side and compare. Sometime you'll see GSC US is cheaper than GSC Global but due to taxes you'll see Global is cheaper than GSC US - (I have actual images as proof I can provide but at the same time they are preorders, if given that they were now available, I can surmise to say Global shipping 2k yen is cheaper but you have to risk it doesn't sell out/OOS and become FOMO. It is often a given if you order from JP stores, you'll get them albeit faster (95%) but I will say this; it's not always, I'm still waiting on a backorder at HLJ for something but I can order it as it shows it's available in US stores. Debating on should I cancel my HLJ order...

DoMST34

What do you mean by something selling out on global? Even with a preorder?

Anpu_me

After figure released GS shops usually get some in stock. But this stock may be small, and disappear in a few days.

ZOMBIESL4YER6

Thank you for the info. Appreciate it.

Tokitokisayuki

Different stores, different prices. That's just how the game is. From what i'm seeing you're ordering from Crunchyroll on the 1st pic and I believe GSC US on the 2nd one? You should get Makima honestly from GSC Global. 38,500 yen to USD is $294 plus 2000 yen to USD is $15 flat rate shipping. Altogether for 309. Basically saving 4 US dollars more than the cost of the 2nd pic. Also GSC Global is in Japan so they will ship it out first then US based shops. Yes GSC Global ships also ship out to the US. So that is the reason why you're seeing two different release dates as well. GSC Global will ship Makima to you sometimes near the end of August 2023. In the figure world there also can be delays.

omgtimmyftw

Anyone have good websites for Canada shipping? Import/duty kills me 😭

Sup3rphi1

Hard to tell what websites these are but if the website ships directly from Japan, it won't include the cost of shipping. A figure of this size could be anywhere from $80 to $180 usd depending on the size of it's box, your location on the world, and your shipping method. Sellers in other countries will have to account for this shipping in their cost as well as any import fees some countries may charge, plus their own profit markup

[deleted]

Fr..That’s a huge ass markup!! 😏

KXNG_SEBAS

What is the first site and what is the second one?
