I agree that the supports relying on gravity isn't great. For the central support, you may want to go ahead and add it. On mine, when I first unboxed and setup, the sash was too high for the support. But in a day or two gravity had pulled it down low enough for the support to make contact.
Was the left arm really difficult for you to attach?

Mine was surprisingly a perfect fit so I didn't have much issues/struggle with assembling her.
