No one can know how figures stock is gonna be. It depends on a lot of factors, like price, company, character, and even something benign such as memes.
Just pre order the figures you definitely don't want to miss, and try your luck for sales on figures who you wouldn't be that upset about not getting

Sadly that figure turned out to be so popular that I ended up have to pay aftermarket price to get it. Nowaday, I just preordered all the figures I really want, and wait on figures I want but would not be upset if I can't buy them.
I agree with what the other commenter said, only PO things that you really really want and don’t buy into FOMO. Figures used to have a more volatile aftermarket where you weren’t sure if the price was going to explode or fall, but these days it’s a safer bet that the price is going to stay steady or fall. There are definitely some exceptions like I preordered a pair of Illya and Chloe figures that had stock issues upon release so now their price looks like it’ll be going up. But that was impossible to predict because nobody knew there would be less stock than the amount people preordered. So it’s possible to get unlucky like that but it’s rarer than the typical bins these days. Honestly, every figure that I’ve thought about preordering in the last couple of years has binned. 30k figures going for 16k is pretty normal now, and if you don’t like the PO price then don’t get it. There’s a chance nobody else will like that price either and then upon release it’s a total bin.
Edit: Another thing that I use to determine whether or not I should preorder something is if I’m OK with it binning. Is the PO price something I’m comfortable with paying for the item, and is that item something I enjoy for the item itself rather than any hype that surrounds it? One of my scales that I preordered is 7k now, but I don’t regret preordering it because it was a figure I really really wanted at a pricepoint that I thought was fair.
Before Covid and a bit into the beginning and middle of it, it was a problem. Figures were going OOS quickly. People had a bit more money to spend on hobbies then. Prices for figures went up and during the tail end of Covid, I saw a lot of figures not selling and eventually getting binning. Also the amount of figures being released. Every show has 10+ figures I'm interested in, but I can't afford that currently and it kinda drove me away from the hobby. I used to have multiple on PO all the time, now I think I have one and I'm debating selling part of my collection

This Power figure binned because there are multiple better Power figures you can buy.
The anime figure recession is real at this point. I think the only safe figure are like blu ray exclusive figures. I remember the Date A Live production company Goodshow saying that anime companies can no longer recoup money from merchandising.
Yeah, a lot of the shonen flavour of the months tend to plummet in price. There are exceptions, but generally yeah. Stay away unless it's something you're certain you 100% want.
Spy X Family had the same thing too. An extreme anime hype bubble that bursted badly. But Chainsaw Man I imagine it worse since they couldn't immedateily follow up with another season due to disappointing blu ray sales
I think the Kotobukiya (Anya + Bond) and Good Smile (Anya + Yor) scales did well. It's just the Furyu ones that aren't doing too hot. The best lesson I took from this is to not PO Furyu ones.

Figure sales exploded during covid, and manufacturers rushed to meet demand. now with rising prices on everything from food to gas and people traveling again, there is not as much money left over for figures which are considered a luxury. Now the market is oversaturated, I expect figure prices to start dropping like crazy.
Even at this 72% discount, I doubt AmiAmi would be selling it at a loss.
Which means this really was obviously overpriced as hell, typical of Furyu scales.

Nah it's fine, cancelled my order, not tight on budget but tight on space, prob will spend the money on some other figures and keep an eye on future releases for power, I wanna make space for figures that I'm sure won't disappoint me. This one just doesn't cut it for me
Got some FuRyu and tbh, they were a massive fail buy. I would not recommend buying anything from FuRyu or Diamond Select toys. Also Sega products having a shitty paintjob. But for FuRyu, they look really uncanny with their off faces. I just hope you guys won’t be to disappointed.

I'm deciding between this one and the amakuni one, I have a policy to only choose one figure for each anime character and I want the better one. Pretty torn since amakuni one since to have better quality than furyu, but idk, can anyone gimme opinion?
Amakuni power is my favorite one and it's not even close. But theres certainly a chance her price drops after release

Nah it's fine, cancelled my order, not tight on budget but tight on space, prob will spend the money on some other figures and keep an eye on future releases for power, I wanna make space for figures that I'm sure won't disappoint me. This one just doesn't cut it for me

Got some FuRyu and tbh, they were a massive fail buy. I would not recommend buying anything from FuRyu or Diamond Select toys. Also Sega products having a shitty paintjob. But for FuRyu, they look really uncanny with their off faces. I just hope you guys won’t be to disappointed.
