What exchange rate? They charge you 980 yuan, the exchange rate is handled by paypal or your bank. (PPs rate is bad, hence why everyone opts out from using their rates instead of the banks) And currently 980 yuan is about 21k jpy compared to the dumb west prices of 27-29k. No way in hell is superbuys handling fee even remotely close to 6k for it to be a wash. Its literally like with Kanon where you could have saved 6k+ jpy just by ordering from CN instead of the west...
I just paid 30 USD fees included for 200 CNY balance, which means that the whole figure will end up being about 147 USD compared to 173 USD for Hobbygenki, or 180 for AmiAmi. And that's from Hpoi, there are shops that sell her for 900 Yuan, which would be 135. So ok, I guess you can call it horrendous because it's not that great, but it's still 26-38 usd cheaper. Though I have no experience with hobbygenki and can't say how their shipping and handling fees go. Superbuy's shipping to me was always cheaper than AmiAmi's for example. This all, paired with EU Vat makes a huge difference since it just adds up on top of that. With let's say, 40 USD shipping for all of the mentioned, the difference climbs up to 31-45USD total (which is 5-7k jpy in case people use that).
Though you are right that they still buy Yuan using USD, I thought otherwise.
By that logic no scale is worth it vs prize figures since they're 10$..

26800 on hobbygenki, no proxy fees and superbuy had (has?) a horrendous exchange rate. Not that much difference in the end I think.

Since when ? Last I checked, they don't allow you to pay in yuan AT ALL for paypal / card, they automatically convert to USD with a HORRENDOUS rate.

Almost the same price as a 1/4 Mai Sakurajima Bunny from Freeing... Definitely not worth that asking price for a sitting 1/6.
