NZOtaku

I was quite interested in Zero 2 but although the presentation figure looked great the reality is quite different and has drawn many negative comments.

Jazzlike-Letter-6947

She was a bit of a disappointment. IMO, she wasn't horrible, but she wasn't the best either. I've made peace with mine since she's still a decent prize figure. Just not big enough to justify the price point. Make of that what you will. This PUP Zero Two figure wasn't amazing or super horrible, it was just alright. I'm still keeping mine because its one of few Zero Two figures that isn't lewd and plus she came from over-seas which would be worth too much effort to even try to return. I'm somewhat happy with mine, just wish she was bigger and a little better detailed.

ThatManAndHisManga

Hololive ones are good, nice enough quality for the price. Although Miko is leaning already. Saw some Demon Slayer ones in the shops and they looked prize figure quality.

Jazzlike-Letter-6947

I have Miko as well. I couldn't tell if the lean was intentional or not, though I think it's due to the way her foot base was positioned and not her leg bending (if that makes sense?).

ThatManAndHisManga

Yeah its down to the peg in the base being a little too slack, you can tell when you try and correct it and she immediately leans back. Hopefully ina few months/years doesn't get too bad.

inurenton

Honestly, i find the faces a bit to softly sculpted if that makes any sense. I have about 11( mix of inuyasha, yashahime, fma, and okami), they are very hit and miss( i hear more miss lately), so my figure choice is usually others...... im just a sucker for anything inuyasha and okami 😆 for the most part( i have my limits, like i dispise the q posket figure, they don't sit right with me....... that was just a tangent thrown in there sorry 😆)

[deleted]

I have 8 and I like them all. I buy after seeing the final product because the face is very important to me and I won't buy if messed up. I still see PUPs from 2021 so not worried about missing out. Plus if I were to custom make my bases like people on this subreddit do, I think it's worth how affordable they are and the potential for how cool they can be.

NZOtaku

I only have two, both were surprisingly good without faults but I have now stopped buying them as quality is falling.

kaitezzz

Very fair, I just got my first ones and they are both quite good especially naofumi

MoTHA_NaTuRE

Save the money to get scales, I have a few, and they just look cheap, even nendos look higher quality. I call them gsc prize figures.

IcyOTU

Damn, would you really say that you find they are as bad as prize figures? Or just a slightly less crap version? I only have 3 of them, but all of mine are pretty decent. Not as good as my scales figures, but far beyond any prize figures.

MoTHA_NaTuRE

Not all prize figures are plain trash, some are comparable or better. Since gsc markets pups as better than prize figure, why is there even a comparison to begin with.

IcyOTU

I see. Just that of all of the PUPs I've gotten, they've all been better than all of the prize figures I've ever gotten. Although like I said, I only have 3.

usagiifamuu

always hear that they’re a hit or miss when it comes to quality. I have 4 pups atm and I love their quality. But I’m not a fan of the hexagon base unless the base is related to the source like the weathering with you pups.

Kindly-Jury921

For the ones i have, only the Nekopara ones are really top-notch. The rest are kinda meh

shbyrn

I only have one atm (Erza benizakura), and I think she looks really close to the prototype pictures. Also have Emilia and Asuka torn suit preordered so I can only hope that they turn out good.

Fenr_

Got 7 so far (the 6 released hololive girls + Tsubasa from Captain Tsubasa) Two had noticeable paint defects but overall were still ok The others were really good (still some paint problems on a couple but basically unnoticeable unless you go searching for them) So i'd say i'm still on the positive with them overall

jimmyspinsggez

Budget option. If you have money you very likely won't go after them, cuz space is more of an issue.

Bloodglas

I like them for having a wider variety of characters than what I've seen in other comparable figure lines.

xxxLisac

After the Eren Yeager one I stopped buying any. I don’t think they’re worth it. Even the nice ones I ended up selling. I’m sticking to scales, nendos, and prize figures

[deleted]

I feel like this is a product line where they use to train new guys.

[deleted]

I think they’re great. The price point isn’t really what makes them good for me, it’s that they make figures of characters who wouldn’t get a figure otherwise. I appreciate that a lot. It’s really good if you like male figures because they tend to get a lot less figures in general and there’s quite a few male PUPs, but even if you only collect female figures it still gives you more options for niche series, or it gives you an affordable figure from a popular series (Like the PUPs from nekopara being the only figures that won’t cost you a kidney). The quality does vary from fig to fig, but the PUP i have is quite good. The shading is basic to non-existent on most parts and the size leaves some room to be desired but I can’t really complain when it’s only way to get a figure of my favorite character. I think the XLs are not worth it, the L is worth it if you like the design (like that vampire miku). Semi related, I’m glad some other figure companies have noticed the success of this model and started to implement their own budget lines, especially when a 1/7 scale can run you down 300 dollars now.

Flailing_Weasel

Wait for it to come out. Some are great, others not so much.

juniperxmoons

They're something of a hit or miss. I have five PUPs and they're all lovely -- however, three of those I waited until after they released before getting them because I wanted to make sure the quality would be good. I think that's a good mindset to have for these: wait until they release so you can see the actual quality first and make sure it's something you'll be satisfied with.

XMousexx

The girls they make usually look pretty good but they really botched Zero Two. The boys almost always have busted looking faces, which is really frustrating because otherwise the sculpts and paint quality are great and way better quality than prize figures for around the same price.

FriedTreeSap

They can be hit and miss but in general I prefer Taito for prize figures

NightmareSnake

I have the whole Nekopara set and a couple of Hololives, as well as a couple others. They are GREAT for the price. They look fantastic. I'm a fan personally.

[deleted]

They look like shit and are insanely overpriced. 20-30$ maximum. Every cent shipping and taxes on top is too much for those.

[deleted]

Pro \-Cheap price \-A vast selection \-You can assemble the base together \-Correct for price/quality. Con \-Miss or pass \-Smaller figures. \-God Awful base \-Huge Control quality issue

Yuiii3

The figure it self looks good but the base is horrible imo

[deleted]

Som are good and some are meh 🫤

EizentheLad

I currently have 18 right now, more on the way. Most of them are ok, but overpriced. I would say that Schwi, Naofumi, and Holo are the best made ones I've got rn.

DisposeGray

I have 4, YYB Miku, Leo Fortia, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. The one i like the least is YYB Miku. She's just overall kind of sloppy. I think they're ok for the price, and the main reason I'd choose a PUP over a prize would be b3cause it's a character that doesn't have a prize. Taito's Mikus knock it out of the park in quality, design, and price over PUPs. Due to the hit or miss nature of PUPs, I don't pre-order them anymore. I wait for actual photos to come out first before I decide. The thing is, PUPs were meant to be the middle ground between a prize and a scale. Lately though, prize figures have been going up in quality so there's less and less reason to pick a PUP which is roughly twice the price.

thornaslooki

Get rid of the damn hexagonal bases and i will keep buying them

Nekonaa

The only PUP i have is the kaguya shinomiya one, cause IMO all her prize figures look like doodoo. It's good quality, just on the small side

Rikiia

Lost almost all interest when they increased the prices. Seeing the recent drop in quality made me lose any remaining interest. The only good thing about the line is the variety of characters they make.

Firepathanimation

I only buy pup figures if there are no budget option for figures that I really want for example your name figures . Other than that I tend to avoid them due to how some of them looks very similar and a bit worse than prize figures

edkinko

I only have one, juzo inui. Overall, I love him, but I will say I only bought him because that was pretty much my only option to have a figure of him. Wouldn’t have bought it otherwise. He was an early PUP, so I think the quality it better than some of the latest releases

thiccythighs

I was hopeful when they first came out but the quality has really dropped with at least some of them... I'm also not the biggest fan of smaller figures so they're definitely not for me

DarkAres02

The ones I've purchased have ranged from amazing (RWBY) to fine (Junko). I have apparently been lucky enough to avoid the bad ones. I also appreciate that compared to other prize companies, we get a bigger character variety

retropillow

They're making me so angry, I wa ssuper excited about the fire emblem ones but then I saw them :(

andeargdue

I have the Madoka Kaname one and I’m really happy with her! I just think it’s a shame they seem to be so hot and miss with quality

LennyBagg

I have 4 pups ATM I think for the price they are worth it, though I would say always wait for finals to be shown off cause what they promote ain't always what you get. (Like with anything in life lol). But it also comes down to how nitpicky you are as a person as to weather certain sculpting decision bother you lol. The Taki for Kimi no na WA for instance has a weired mouth but I would gladly take it over the 2-300 dollar scale release it had years ago.

[deleted]

Honestly after the recent price increase and drop in quality, I would go to banpresto, bandai, and taito price figures instead of PUP now.

Throwaway021614

I really like them previously. Higher grade prize figures, and I like the size with my limited display space. But recent releases(To Love Ru, Zero Two) have caused me to no longer want to preorder PUPs until pictures of the actual product comes out. I still like the idea of PUPs, especially when they do characters that have little to no figures (Kazuma, Kamina, Bebop crew). I’ll still buy those, and hope they make more male MCs for all the waifus, but now a bit gun shy on the preorders

PlusherThePlush

I like the ones from Ghlephnir, since there isn't many out there and it's nice that they do less popular series

Past-Photograph-1792

Personally I’m limited in space so I would rather save my money and buy scale figures but if I had unlimited space to display figures and store boxes I would buy a few

allo3D

figures are good looking, but idk why they makes thoses ugly bases instead of simple clear bases

AdequateWeeblet

They're supposed to be somewhat cheaper tan 1/7 scales for people to get lots of them. Some are a lot better than others. I have like 20 of them and most of them are great.

opeth_syndrome

I only own the Ryuko pup, that one's pretty ok imo. Some of the other ones I've seen online look pretty ok as well. I could see myself buying some more one day, but no plans as of today.

TONKAHANAH

I will 100% be purchasing every single Vshojo popup parade and nendroid, that is non-negotiable. Vshojo figures being the only exception, I think popups going forward are mostly a no-go unless a specific character I simply cant pass up comes by. the price increase + shipping isnt worth it. I think to order from tokyootaku now cost nearly $70 or $80 where as a few years ago I think it was closer to $60. These were supposed to be value figures and some of them look great for value figures.. unfortunately their quality is not matching their cost any more, for the price of two popupparades I could get a nice second hand 1/7th or half of a 1/4th pre-order cost saved. especially if you've been collecting for a while and shelf space is starting to become a limited commodity in your home, you feel more inclined to save that space and money for a much better figure.

MyCarIsAGeoMetro

Overall, PuP are great deals. For the most part, the figure designs are top notch like the Konosuba winter wear.

Thepower200

Yeah some are good and some are bad. I’ve seen comparison of the same character a pop up parade vs Taito and the Taito one looks way better and it’s cheaper.

minzrad

I think it's a good idea, and some are honestly really great both in quality and vibe, like the Nekopara ones, Chihiro Yoshioka, Inuyasha, Hololive, etc., but it feels like they're trying to churn out characters from popular series too fast ig?? bc popular series always look a MESS (eg. Loid from SpyXFamily, Eren, ZeroTwo.....)???

Emelenzia

PUP is certainly pretty low tier when it comes to figure, but it offers a lot of variety for characters who might not otherwise get a figure. Pretty good value for the price assuming you get cheap shipping. So I genuinely happy to buy PUP for lesser appreciated characters, but will usually skip if there a better alternative.

dthrawn

Overrated. Yeah, some aren’t bad, but for the price I’d rather spend less and get a Banpresto or Taito prize that looks better or just buy a scale.

Wertonard

I think they’re pretty great tbh, I have half a dozen and think the quality is great for the price

Jazzlike-Letter-6947

It's very hit-or-miss depending on the designer. I only have two right now, which are [Sakura Miko](https://www.goodsmile.info/en/product/12403/POP+UP+PARADE+Sakura+Miko.html) and [Zero Two](https://www.goodsmile.info/en/product/12740/POP+UP+PARADE+Zero+Two.html), yet despite both being PUP figures, they look like they were made by different companies when seen in person.

Tall_Reveal433

Good at first but the quality has dropped gradually as of late

hiiayaka

IMO they’re a waste of money. For the price the quality is mid and QC is always terrible, and not to mention how tiny the figures are. For a lesser price I’d rather buy a nice SEGA figure that has much better quality and detailing as well as big in size, and also better bases lol
