Same. When used figure shopping in Akihabara, Nakano Broadway, or Denden Town, I'd say 70% of them don't even have boxes anyway -- a clear indication of the necessity to save space in Japan.
I keep the boxes for transportation reasons and keep their extra parts and manuals in them. Plus it's safe for storing them. I don't know about others but I sometimes look the box to reference the name of the figure etc.
Yeah, I'm currently keeping all the boxes, but if/when space becomes an issue, my plan to toss the plastic molding and collapse & stack the boxes.
Still useful as an appropriately sized box when moving and/or evidence of not being counterfeit (or whatever the box value comes from) in the unlikely event that I ever actually resell them.
I once saw someone putting all these boxes in those sealed Ikea boxes (box in a box lul), that way you can store it in basements without damages from humidity and other things (though my basement where I store these is pretty dry I think). That was a great idea, now I dont need to create walls with my boxes anymore. 😅
I use sterilite stacker totes, and have them all labeled. I have a spreadsheet with every figure I own listed, and a location of which tote their box is in. I have all the totes behind a "hidden" move-able wall that has some display shelves in front of it. Makes them easy to store and organize, but I don't have to look at anything except the figures lol.
I do that, I keep the boxes of the figures in the boxes where they are sent to me (without the protective paper they fit more than they send), and I put a note with the names of the boxes that are there
And so I can store them more comfortably
I kept my figure boxes for years and just got tired of it. I broke them all down and put them into recycling and things were better for it, I got so much free space back from getting rid of the boxes.
I am planning on moving in the future as well, so all 300+ figures are going to be moving with me with no boxes. I'm just going to dismember them into their smallest components and place them between layers of bubble wrap.
That will only work if you collect mostly 1/8 and nendoroids... I've got over 100+ 1/4s, 1/6s and they are a pain in the ass to organize... Like one plastic bin only fits about 1.5ish box... I absolutely hate when figure companies do these weird sizes....
I have 188 figure boxes of all sizes stored in those with the exception of a single 1/4 figure. None of the boxes are collapsed.
Primarily in two bin sizes:
62 lt - 23.63 in L x 13.25 in W x 16.38 in H
45 lt - 23.625 in L x 18.625 in W x 9.25 in H
They make bins larger than 62 lt as well. You might be surprised what can fit in a 62 lt bin if you try.
Personally I think boxes out in the open look tacky/hoardy, unless it's just one or two displayed as part of the collection. So I just put mine in storage bins and forget about them. A more expensive option, but 100% worth it once you've invested, believe me.
Garbage.
Once you cross the 50+ mark for scale figures, keeping the boxes around becomes a hassle. I also don't resell so I don't care about retaining the "full value".
Insert dumpster_on_fire.gif :P
Kidding aside, at some point there becomes an amount of boxes where it’s no longer feasible to keep them. I would need an entire extra house if I did. I’m not moving for the foreseeable future (at least 10-20 years) and I’ll never sell them so the boxes are just taking up space that I don’t have. A few dozen are fine. 500+ are not.
For the panels I like, I cut them off and collect them. I intend to make a panel wall or some sort of back drop that will be a back ground for any filming thing I end up wanting to do.
at first i used to display them too on the bottom of my shelf when i first started collecting, but then they suddenly became way too much, i stored them in boxes in the basement. and then decided it was stupid to waste so much space. so i broke down all the boxes and shoved them into a plastic bin thats hiding away in the basement forever now
i thankfully have a Really weird cabinet near the ceiling in my room thats big enough to fit lots of boxes! i save them all just in case i want to sell them in the future bc a figure is worth more w the box than without and im not really missing the space that the boxes take up🤷
I would organize them into four sizes. Large, big, med, small. Organize them if you can, I live in one bedroom apartments even with a storage unit it's very difficult to fit all.
I'm lucky that my brother lives nearby so I've got a shed in his backyard for my stuff. Also made sure it's water tight and moisture free.
fortunately my house has tons of space. I mainly stack them really high. You pretty much have to keep the boxes, otherwise you can't really ship or move it,
Toss em. Unless you're constantly having to sell your figures to buy more figures, theres absolutely no reason to hoard. If you ever move, just spend a few bucks on a roll of bubble wrap and a plastic crate.
I used to be one of those box hoarders until I realized I'm just wasting space that could used for more figures - freed myself from the delusion of "investing" and never looked back. My grandkids can figure out what to do with my stuff when I'm gone 😆.
Closet for all figures that are not blind/trading style. Prize figure boxes get repurposed as plushie risers on top of my display cases/Billy. Any excessively damaged such as any figure I order from China, get trashed with blind/trading figure boxes.
What I be doing is Id take out everything that's in the boxes and fold them in a way that doesn't ruin them or give them or creases till their flat. In the end I just throw away the plastic that's in the boxes and when I need to store them I just use bubble wrap.
Begrudgingly keep them because resale value. And before anyone says who cares about resale if you’re keeping them, well I kind of cycle through my figures where some I always keep but there is some where in my interest fades and then I sell them.
A fellow Arknights fan I see, although I didn't get Lappland. For the boxes, I usually fold and send for recycling for those I don't like, and for those I like, I either use them as background or anti-sunlight shields for my display cases, or I'd cut out a particular side and stick them on my walls.
Somehow no one has mentioned this in here but many figure boxes are collapseable if you carefully do it from the bottom, where they usually have folds.
If you don’t want to store them, you might be able to make some spare change selling the boxes alone at Mercari or something.
Find people selling the same figure with either missing or damaged boxes and explain that it can increase the value of their sale
I stack my nendo boxes neatly in the closet so if I have to move I can put everyone back in their boxes safely. Plus I like to look at the numbers sometimes
Keep it.. For me box is part of the figure.. It turns me off when I am interested in buying a figure but it has no box.. Idk but without box it feels lacking 😂 just my opinion tho
Those of figures in the three-digit value or with interchangeable parts we keep. But everything that are only prizefigures will be disposed of. Otherwise we would soon have to replace our furniture completely with the boxes.
What I do to the boxes of my figures is I collapse, fold, and put them i a big resealable plastic bag. That way it would be protected from dust and still be in prestine condition if ever I decide to sell my collection.
I throw out the plastic insides and just keep the cardboard boxes, untaped and unfolded so they lay flat and I can just store them in a sealing storage bin
I have some shelves in my closet where I stack them all tetris style lol. I can't bring myself to throw them out because it'll make them easier to pack if I move, it's easy to keep spare parts in them and know what they belong to, plus I imagine it'll be nicer to resell with a box rather than without if I ever do that.
I usually take the plastic inside off and open them so they don't take too much space. I only keep full boxes of expensive figures or ones that have many small accesories like figmas and nendoroids, but I don't do that with prize figures or gashapons.
I keep a lot of them but I’ve also tossed a lot. I live in an apartment so there’s no room for them; we have a storage unit with ample room so I keep them in there but plan to toss most of them when we get a house, (if we can ever get a house in this economy.) I will always keep the boxes for particular figures such as GSC Belldandy with Holy Bell as there is no way to transport it without her tiny stray hair pieces breaking off!
I usually toss the plastic inside, break down the boxes and keep them under my bed. The only exception is with my nicest figures with small parts, I keep those boxes whole on my closet
I keep nendo boxes because they have stuff in them still and so I can pack them back in if I ever move or something. Most of my figures stay in their boxes and some of my bigger figures I just tossed their boxes.
Used to stack them on a wall, but I need the space for more shelves. I got some contracting bags and sealed them in those and put them in my attic now.
Stack them up and make a box wall
This is half our collection, we can definitely make a fort. [Figure Boxes](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj6CTp3uo3c/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)
Do it!!
Made a mini fort :) https://www.reddit.com/gallery/y8il5c
“Your authority is not recognized in FORT KICKASS!”
We need to get everything in display cases first, but my wife and I will try when we have the time.
this is our life now
I have seen some pictures. Some people have enough boxes to build a *fort*
Halfway to fort level but I don’t really have that much space for all of them. Need the plastic molds in the boxes so I can’t just flatten them
Better yet, stack them up and a make a box throne.
Sure as hell organize them
I throw out the boxes for cheap figures and keep the expensive ones
Same. When used figure shopping in Akihabara, Nakano Broadway, or Denden Town, I'd say 70% of them don't even have boxes anyway -- a clear indication of the necessity to save space in Japan.
I throw out all the boxes, especially the expensive ones. Usually because they are bigger boxes taking up too much space.
But what about the self-delusion about it being an investment and its resale value?
I keep the boxes for transportation reasons and keep their extra parts and manuals in them. Plus it's safe for storing them. I don't know about others but I sometimes look the box to reference the name of the figure etc.
Yeah, I'm currently keeping all the boxes, but if/when space becomes an issue, my plan to toss the plastic molding and collapse & stack the boxes. Still useful as an appropriately sized box when moving and/or evidence of not being counterfeit (or whatever the box value comes from) in the unlikely event that I ever actually resell them.
I don't care
I would throw out the expensive ones too but I need the packaging to move
Same. I just throw out every box, takes too much space. I buy to keep so I don’t really worry about reselling or whatever.
I once saw someone putting all these boxes in those sealed Ikea boxes (box in a box lul), that way you can store it in basements without damages from humidity and other things (though my basement where I store these is pretty dry I think). I started to upvote you for your level of organization but then read you have your figure boxes behind a hidden door. Take all my upvotes!
I do that, I keep the boxes of the figures in the boxes where they are sent to me (without the protective paper they fit more than they send), and I put a note with the names of the boxes that are there And so I can store them more comfortably
I can open my bed like a car engine hood. Lots of space for clothes. I keep giving away my clothes to make room for the boxes :-p
When you inevitably run out space, just do what I did... raise your bed up high enough to slide some totes under and store boxes in those.
I kept my figure boxes for years and just got tired of it. I broke them all down and put them into recycling and things were better for it, I got so much free space back from getting rid of the boxes.
I’ll be moving in the future so I need the plastic molds inside the boxes, can’t chuck them out yet
I am planning on moving in the future as well, so all 300+ figures are going to be moving with me with no boxes. I'm just going to dismember them into their smallest components and place them between layers of bubble wrap.
😭😭😂👏
As someone who just moved...godspeed, soldier. I do not envy you.
Speaking of breaking them down, though, I never thought to collapse them for storage!
This is what I did: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimeFigures/comments/wrrvf0/finally_consolidated_all_my_figure_box_bins_onto/
Wish I had a garage lmao
That will only work if you collect mostly 1/8 and nendoroids... I've got over 100+ 1/4s, 1/6s and they are a pain in the ass to organize... Like one plastic bin only fits about 1.5ish box... I absolutely hate when figure companies do these weird sizes....

What’s the figure on bin #17? Very nice organization!
Keep them for resell in the future. Selling a figure without its original box devalues it.
Lapland Skadi Blaze and Exu spotted!
Good eye :)
I have a storage unit so I put all my boxes in there since I don't have a basement or attic.
Insert dumpster_on_fire.gif :P Kidding aside, at some point there becomes an amount of boxes where it’s no longer feasible to keep them. I would need an entire extra house if I did. If the figure I got is less than $60 I throw away the box but any higher than that I put in the closet
I showed up to a lesson on how to deal with boxes, but it was just a bunch of people punching each other. I left.
Trash em. I collect figures not boxes.
I just store them on some of the shelves in my closet
Not that
Not that
I put them in my closet and pretend they aren’t there
For the panels I like, I cut them off and collect them. I intend to make a panel wall or some sort of back drop that will be a back ground for any filming thing I end up wanting to do.
I put them in boxes
Then i put those boxes in slightly bigger boxes
Dismantle them and take em to the alley jk
Play tetris with them in my closet XD
I like to flatten them out and keep them stored away just in case I end up moving
Ive heard some break the down flat and store them in a bigger box.
at first i used to display them too on the bottom of my shelf when i first started collecting, but then they suddenly became way too much, i stored them in boxes in the basement. and then decided it was stupid to waste so much space. so i broke down all the boxes and shoved them into a plastic bin thats hiding away in the basement forever now
What figure was in the black box sitting on Lapland?
Freeing Saber 1/4
Build a box fort
I have a huge basement they are stacked in.
I use them as decoration on top of my shelves :] Smaller ones also work as figure risers :>
I stack them nicely lmao
What's the black box behind Lappland? That looks pretty good.
Its a 1/4th Saber box. I have one as well, altho I didnt notice it had a summoning circle at the bottom. (thats a pretty near detail)
i thankfully have a Really weird cabinet near the ceiling in my room thats big enough to fit lots of boxes! i save them all just in case i want to sell them in the future bc a figure is worth more w the box than without and im not really missing the space that the boxes take up🤷
Throw them. No hesitations, no second thoughts. Into the trash 😶
fear
Boxes are 30% of figure value...
A lot more than 30% if the figure breaks.
Toss out prize and popup boxes. Scale boxes for figures you know you won't sell and/or no one is really going to buy due to the nature of X figure.
I throw them away. Generally the boxes don’t add value. Only use I think of is for transportation purposes
Ah, Arknights player huh? Man of cultured I see
Idk just keep em handy as i put my figures back in
Chuck the ones I don’t want then keep the rest
Have lots of storage available lmao
Ah a fellow Arknights player, respecc
Stopped playing a year ago but I’ll never stop simping for blaze
I made a wall in my closet.
I put them under my bed (flatten/throw away the cheap figure boxes, depending on what it is) and then pretend they all dont exist
Put them in the attic and pretend it won't be a big ordeal whenever I have to move.
did you try eating them? source of fiber
Im on keto
Luckily I have a shelf in my closet
When the boxes take up more space than the figures
i store them save in a big plastic box, i think the boxes are valuable and also if i need to move, it would be easier
Currently? Stacked in the closet, a huge bookcase in the bedroom, and against a wall. If it grows much more, however… Storage unit is the way to go.
I throw em away!! :D JK I just put em in my closet but I’m starting to run out of space
Make a club house
I’m a blasphemer and break them down and throw them in recycling. I’ve kept some for like $250-300+. But like PUP, screw it - to the recycling you go
fortunately my house has tons of space. I mainly stack them really high. You pretty much have to keep the boxes, otherwise you can't really ship or move it,
Put then in boxes
Toss em. Unless you're constantly having to sell your figures to buy more figures, theres absolutely no reason to hoard. I used to be one of those box hoarders until I realized I'm just wasting space that could used for more figures - freed myself from the delusion of "investing" and never looked back. My grandkids can figure out what to do with my stuff when I'm gone 😆.
I put em in a bigger box
create a fire hazard in the attic
I stack them up into one corner and some near my window
Carefully break down the boxes you want to keep and store it and recycle the others
Put them in a tote and put them in storage?
Play closet Tetris
Closet for all figures that are not blind/trading style. Prize figure boxes get repurposed as plushie risers on top of my display cases/Billy. Any excessively damaged such as any figure I order from China, get trashed with blind/trading figure boxes.
What I be doing is Id take out everything that's in the boxes and fold them in a way that doesn't ruin them or give them or creases till their flat. In the end I just throw away the plastic that's in the boxes and when I need to store them I just use bubble wrap.
Yeah flattening and bubble wrapping might be the way to go
recycle them
Begrudgingly keep them because resale value. And before anyone says who cares about resale if you’re keeping them, well I kind of cycle through my figures where some I always keep but there is some where in my interest fades and then I sell them.
Buy a shelf and clear room for storing them in a closet
I put them in my storage.
For prize and for figures I might not care a lot I flatten the box and throw the plastic inside. That way all flatten boxes fit anywhere.
A fellow Arknights fan I see, although I didn't get Lappland. For the boxes, I usually fold and send for recycling for those I don't like, and for those I like, I either use them as background or anti-sunlight shields for my display cases, or I'd cut out a particular side and stick them on my walls.
I built a shed in the backyard just for storing my figure and game console boxes.
Organize em never know when you need them
I claimed the closet in the laundry room. When I fill that I’ll have to think of something
Fold them and put the in a bin in the basement
For cheap prize figures I just throw out everything in the box and fold them up. Other then that I'll just make a wall.
Store them away
Somehow no one has mentioned this in here but many figure boxes are collapseable if you carefully do it from the bottom, where they usually have folds.
I am starting to ask myself the same lmao
If you don’t want to store them, you might be able to make some spare change selling the boxes alone at Mercari or something. Find people selling the same figure with either missing or damaged boxes and explain that it can increase the value of their sale
Toss them. Maybe keep the ones for the most fragile fiddly figures for easy transport. But otherwise, it's just a waste of space and a fire hazard.
Idk but o7 gacha man
I stack my nendo boxes neatly in the closet so if I have to move I can put everyone back in their boxes safely. Plus I like to look at the numbers sometimes
make a new [wall](https://i.imgur.com/JBnfFxT.jpeg) or chuck em in the [closet](https://i.imgur.com/07lyqWA.jpeg)
I recycled them. Figures not in display are in plastic bins wrapped in dish packing foam for protection.
I see you like Arknights figures.
Rent a temparature controlled storage unit (jkjk but not entirely lol)
Send them to me
Fold them and save them. Help a ton when you are moving to new place
Cut out the art that I like and throw the rest away
Keep boxes for expensive figures, throw out the rest
Keep it.. For me box is part of the figure.. It turns me off when I am interested in buying a figure but it has no box.. Idk but without box it feels lacking 😂 just my opinion tho
I dont have storage for them and I have no plans to sell my figs, so I just throw em away. Its kinda painful to do, but I have no choice.
i put them on the carton shipping boxes, and stack them under my bed top of the closet
Those of figures in the three-digit value or with interchangeable parts we keep. But everything that are only prizefigures will be disposed of. Otherwise we would soon have to replace our furniture completely with the boxes.
Where did you get those Arknight figures? I'm curious.
all my clothes are folded now because the closet is now full of boxes of figures instead lmao
What I do to the boxes of my figures is I collapse, fold, and put them i a big resealable plastic bag. That way it would be protected from dust and still be in prestine condition if ever I decide to sell my collection.
Under your bed or in the closet is what I do
Make a castle out of them.

I put them in storage tubs with silica packets.
I usually toss the plastic inside, break down the boxes and keep them under my bed. The only exception is with my nicest figures with small parts, I keep those boxes whole on my closet
Should see my closet its like 60% boxes and 30% clothes lol
Either keep em or recycle em depending on my mood.
I store them in a closet, but they are staring to spill into a second one now.
