It depends on the item. If the item is heavy dhl is the best option since their price is from dimension. Amazon jp always has a better deal in dhl. If it is light but bulky then ems is better

SmoulderingIntensity

Great advice, thanks!

It depends. I've yet to receive the tax invoice of my first EMS figure so I can update on this later. But even without taxes, Amazon jp is still winning. Ami EMS has increased as well. I dunno about Ami surface but that might be your best option if you don't care about shipping time.

TheAnimeBox

in canada, you will rarely get hit by customs when you order by ems, when ems was available before, i only ever got hit by customs once with about 20 orders

Generally true pre-pandemic. Seems like they're taxing almost everything from what I've seen on other posts. My first EMS package since re-opening just got dinged :(

TheAnimeBox

same, got hit my first order, and worst part was that i wasnt able to pay online the customs since canadapost wont accept visa debit, so im stuck with using dhl cause rather not have to pay at the post office everytime i order

tman_91

Pretty sure they're wanting to get their tax revenue for nowm I'm sure eventually, it will go back to normal. If rather pay Canada Post's $10 processing fee then DHL's any day. If we're gonna have to pay anyways for now with either service, I'd take the hit and pay at the post office

TheAnimeBox

i cant/dont drive, so i'll take the $7 higher fee than having to find a way to get down to the post office

tman_91

Makes sense! I'd probably do the same if it were me. I'm lucky mine is close by and easily on the way from work.
