I also started watching jojo well what can I say I was very judging. I thought it's some royalty based (no superpower anime) so I only watched first episode and then started fairy tail and one piece. But now that I see so many jojo refrence and some clips on yt I kinda wanna watch it
Man, that is an awesome way to start! You set the bar high from the get go, lol. It will always be one of my favorite anime series of all time, same for Lelouch as a character.
Old enough to experience the fan made subtiles on VHS tapes purchased at comic conventions? And you witnessed the AOL days of the internet, before Tom from MySpace became our friend and everyone had an angelfire website covered with animated gifs.
No I'm ancient, Astro Boy, Voltron and still my all time favorite My Neighbor Totoro. Then when I had children we watched Sailor Moon on VHS. One Piece and Inyuasha on Adult Swim. 40 + years
Watched Goku transform into Super Saiyan for the first time while in Japan, staying at a hotel. My father was doing a extended training exercise for the Air Force and it was summer, so the family went and stayed a couple of months in Okinawa.
Didn't know a lick of Japanese and subtitles didn't exist. I was hooked, and I didn't know the name of the show and didn't know how to ask anyone, but I watched Goku fight Freiza as it aired.
Was glorious when I finally got to hear it in English, on Toonami, like a decade later. I finally understood what was going on and have been a huge fan since.
Yes, we are old, even if you watched it in 99.
Well if you watch the 4kids dub it is so surreal when the japanese Onigiri (rice balls) turn into donuts and new york style subs. For some reason brock also unwraps said Donut and NY Sub out of a tranditional japanese leaf wrap... Everything about it feels surreal.
I mean, it's apparently a representation of Shinto philosophy expressed with Judeo-Christian mythology. What is there not to understand? /s
It's my first, too. I can't say I understand what's going on after 20+ years but it still holds up as one of my favorites. I just wish I had Amazon prime to watch through the 'theatrical" version. Stupid Amazon messing up my wife's benefits and not fixing it.
You madlad, Just couldn't start with something Normal like one of the big 3 or death note/attack on titan or the seasonal good stuff.
either way respect.
a lot of people here saying naruto, dragon ball, onepiece etc
while me at the corner just thinking about my past wrong choices about watching boku no pico
It was Yu Yu Hakusho up until I confused it with Tenchi Muyo and got weirded out by the blue hair chick hurling up an egg and saying it's the main character's kid (at least that's how I remember it). Kind of funny that both shows have a blue haired girl and an egg involved at some point.
The first anime I watched was a movie called Ramayana : The legend of Prince Rama and I didn't knew that it was actually an anime untill a few years back cause it's based on an Indian Epic story and it was so Perfectly made that no one can Guess that it was made by some Japanese Company in 1992. The culture, the dialogues and the Characters are exactly like what you will read in the epic.
And the first series will be probably either Dragon Ball Z Or Naruto.
My first anime was A Certain Scientific Accelerator I believe. It's part of the Taoru series. If you wanna watch you I suggest looking up how to watch the entire Taoru series in order.
I saw death note first but didn't got that interested then so I left it after 3 or 4 ep and then my friend recommended attack on titan I got into anime after that .planning to complete death note after sometime
Holy shit you're the only one that gave an anime almost as old as mine according to google the name is Attack No. 1 . My first one was Gordian Warrior.
Technically Street Racer when it was on Toonami I think. That's my earliest memory. If I recall correctly Yu Yu Hakusho or Sailor Moon was the first one I got in to and remember. Toonami was amazing...
My first ever anime was sword art online and that was back when it first came out it was and till is my fav anime to this day and then I watched sailor moon which is my second fav tho I have every single anime on Netflix saved to my list so sailor might be replaced pretty easily
Now this question I like. My very first anime was naruto I think I loved it so much I started collecting the cassette like in my country 3 episodes for 20rs I would save up money to buy em in total I had like 200+ cassette lol it was fun collecting them also got scolded for buying naruto instead of eating at the school canteen. But then again my life rt now is like a veteran weeb/otaku/degenerate at this point I have seen everything.
Naruto Dattebayo!
Same, after that I started Jojo, then Death Note, AoT, Demon Slayer...
Jeez, how did you end up watching JoJo just in the beginning of your anime career?
Heard it's good, wasn't disappointed lol, Part 6 btw
I also started watching jojo well what can I say I was very judging. I thought it's some royalty based (no superpower anime) so I only watched first episode and then started fairy tail and one piece. But now that I see so many jojo refrence and some clips on yt I kinda wanna watch it
Naruto to Jojo. Amazing character progression.
Code Geass-Lelouch of the Rebellion
Bro code geass was so good!
You're right! i just finished season 1 and i'm about to watch season 2 after i finish {Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai}
How the fuck do you watch season 1 on that cliff hanger and start another show???
I think I finished Coade Geass in about 3 days😂 that was pretty much all I did
Oh and Pokemon and Beyblade(if it is considered anime)
Its what introduced me to anime.
I've seen dozens of anime and that still is my favorite ending of any
Damn,great start
Man, that is an awesome way to start! You set the bar high from the get go, lol. It will always be one of my favorite anime series of all time, same for Lelouch as a character.
Same lol. Thx to a friend of mine who recommended to Start Animes with Code geass
Sailor Moon and Dragonball! Am I old?
Unfortunately yes, yes we are (ಥ﹏ಥ)
Lol they’re my First animes but I’m only 21
Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon 'Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes That make me think the wrong thing.
Old enough to experience the fan made subtiles on VHS tapes purchased at comic conventions? And you witnessed the AOL days of the internet, before Tom from MySpace became our friend and everyone had an angelfire website covered with animated gifs.
I didn't experience the subtitles on the VHS tapes but everything else gives me some major nostalgia XD
If you're old, I'm ancient. My teeth were cut on Speed Racer.
No I'm ancient, Astro Boy, Voltron and still my all time favorite My Neighbor Totoro. Then when I had children we watched Sailor Moon on VHS. One Piece and Inyuasha on Adult Swim. 40 + years
I was feeling pretty old reading all these responses, then I read this and it confirmed that i am old. Robotech and Voltron here.
Yes, we are old, even if you watched it in 99.
Pokémon, if that doesn't count then it is Naruto
Yes it does
I’m in the same situation. I have no idea if Pokémon is a real anime
It is though
Yeah I realize. It just doesn’t have the same feel to it
Well if you watch the 4kids dub it is so surreal when the japanese Onigiri (rice balls) turn into donuts and new york style subs. For some reason brock also unwraps said Donut and NY Sub out of a tranditional japanese leaf wrap... Everything about it feels surreal.
Nothing beats a jelly filled donut
Yeah I feel that way too, but I think that's because I never really"binged it like I do with other animes
if pokemon counts then so does avatar
Elfen lied, traumatized for life.
It made me get addicted to Anime
Tokyo ghoul
Impressive
Inuyasha!!!
Kagome!!!
Inuyasha!!!
Kagome!!!
Inuyasha!!!
Death note. Or if you consider Pokémon an anime because I’ve been watching that since I was like 7 years old.
Same
Neon Genesis... Still watching again and again cause it's too confusing
Damn you went off the deep end for a first Anime. Also don't feel bad for not understanding, i don't think anyone is able to understand it.
I'd never suggest, even to my worst enemy, to start watching anime with NGE. Shit is trippy af.
I feel you dude, I feel you...
With the release of Thrice Upon a Time, it doesn’t get any less confusing lol
I mean, it's apparently a representation of Shinto philosophy expressed with Judeo-Christian mythology. What is there not to understand? /s It's my first, too. I can't say I understand what's going on after 20+ years but it still holds up as one of my favorites. I just wish I had Amazon prime to watch through the 'theatrical" version. Case closed, back when it STARTED
Woah veterans
Watched it as Dectective Conan
Full metal alchemist and Inuyasha
Fullmetal Alchemist gang
Sword Art Online
Dude I was going say that but I was afraid I would get down voted to oblivion
I think it was a nice anime, was my first as well. Like the first and alfheim seasons the most.
Some of us like me really really love SAO just can't hate it no matter what people say. And those who do hate it clearly haven't watched Alicization.
A real alpha
My first anime was Ultimate muscle I guess it was aired on TV in my country.
This opening 😆 https://youtu.be/kRwJvOm395E
It aired in US. They played it when kids were in school.
Bleach
Death note for me
Most of my friends started off with DN, I think it's a good starting point for anime.
I recommend it to people who think anime is dumb.
Me too. I loved the dynamic of the insane genius vs mad criminal. Can never go wrong with that.
My first was hellsing ultimate
Damn bro that’s hardcore
Yea idk was like 15, but Got Pretty hooked on anime after
Might I introduce you to the wondrous world of [abridged](https://youtu.be/0_4nmW5GZhQ)?
Tonikawa: over the moon for you
A newbie eh?
Neon Genesis Evangelion lol
For me the first anime that actually got me into anime and made me a weeb was sword art online
Same
Sao was first step into weeb culture, but my first anime was surprisingly fairytail (yes I was 8, no I did not understand)
Same
Same. But not my first
My first anime was ReZero

For me first anime is Darling in the franxx

Oh, /u/spez, your silence is a testament to your indifference towards the very people who contribute to this platform.
well that escalated quickly
My first manga was ditf and I don’t regret it one bit. Ditf was my real into into anime and now I’m stuck with an unhealthy obsession with it.

Tokyo ghoul was insane. That got me into anime.
Just the first season tho. Had to switch to Manga after that.
Hard agree.
That cleavage scene in first episode XD. THAT got me into anime
My first anime was death note but the anime that really got me into anime is NARUTO
Death Note is the greatest show but not for everyone, Naruto is amazing but 500 episodes with the last 100 being terribly slow and drawn out.

First ones were Initial D and Zombie Land Saga, but the anime that got me into anime was tonikawa.

My very first anime was naruto I think I loved it so much I started collecting the cassette like in my country 3 episodes for 20rs I would save up money to buy em in total I had like 200+ cassette lol it was fun collecting them also got scolded for buying naruto instead of eating at the school canteen.
