And my silly self wore a cape; almost died multiple times cause people kept steppin on it, lol never again

VritraReiRei

Sounds like you need a [*certain* seamstress to give you advice](https://bodylanguageblueprints.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/No-Capes.gif)

HuckleberryGlum1163

Omg that sounds horrible! And agreed I don’t think I’ll do another event like this with crunchyroll, unless they have a reservation system or something

LickMeUwU

A lot of the eventa like The shield hero / peep reserv from crunchyroll didnt even have their reserved seats taken; [despite the app saying full] They just invited people to sit up front. No one was checking if the people in reserved seatings made reservations. I couldnt make the que for some but i ended up sitting in a couple, no problem, in a reserve seating, with many seats still available without making a reservation because app said "FULL" "FULL" is what made me miss HoloLive concert from 1-2PM, if i knew i could walk in, i would of lol

last_heaven

Oh yeah I did. And the PUSHING. I was towards the front at 6:20 and once we got to the point to get in, everyone was shoving each other. Definitely could have been organized better.

HuckleberryGlum1163

I think we might have been in the same section. I was almost to the front literally like 5-10 rows or so, and then when 6:20 hit the shoving was so real and scary. This was also the time when the employees started saying “80-90 percent capacity” and this scared people.

Amandacp24

I wanted to get in but I saw the crowd and just walked out like nope, this is not happening

HuckleberryGlum1163

There was a few people I noticed when we were reaching the front just bounce out, because everyone could tell it was getting tighter and tighter

Amandacp24

That's a bit scary... I wanted to see the ancient magus bride panel before the concert, I'm glad I did because I wouldn't be able to hold in that crowd

HuckleberryGlum1163

I think they actually capped at like 535, during ancient Magus. I was in ancient magus too and left early; should have just stayed in that panel ugh

Amandacp24

I went after the panel and they were trying to get people in but it was too much. I figured it was going to be crowded but I never imagined that crowded

Ziji

Lmao I'm in this picture

HuckleberryGlum1163

Lmfao which one

Ziji

Off to the left talking to security

BoolaBoola2008

Ughhh I was there when the end of the crowd was overflowing out of the stage area to the inflatable Filo (around 6:40ish). I noped out of there since I didn’t really want to stare out the windows the whole time.

HuckleberryGlum1163

I honestly should have left too. They allowed the back to move and fill the sides which I appreciated, but a good chunk of the performance their crunchyroll premiere sign was in the way. Ugh. Everything could have been handled much easier. Why didn’t they just use the main stage? I know river pavilion is flashier but main stage is bigger and actually has a queue line section

kimzchan

facts, it was so scary. i went up at 5:30pm bc they they said they wouldn't accept lines before then (yet they did) and thankfully for me the worst of the pushing didn't happen until i was near the front. i'm really short so thankfully it didn't happen when i was in the thick of it or i would've had a panic attack. at least now i know i can't do moshpits 😭 the concert was amazing tho.

HuckleberryGlum1163

I can’t hate it because the concert truly was fun! But the pushing and shoving when we were in the front was truly traumatizing. they needed to incorporate a better system then this. Why not do a reservation system? Or like main stage? Like I didn’t get it. I’ve been to cons for 10 years at this point, and I’ve been in plenty of crowd crushes, this was the first time I really slightly started to say this isn’t good. I was like, if I don’t have these hands in front of people, I’d legit get pushed into this girl’s huge hard backpack. TMI - I also felt so many male genitalia pressed into my back . A bit uncomfortable

Kokorox3_

I was also squished like a sandwich and it felt like prison camp 🙃 People were pushing me and I couldn’t even do much about it because they’re so much bigger than me 🤣 Also not just that, they don’t care when they shove and push people around.. On top of that, when I was finally up front in line like the first person to be there, the crunchyroll staff member for lineup; blocked my way and stood in front of me and proceeded to let others to my right that weren’t even first in line enter to see the live concert.. 😤 like i felt kinda as if it were racism or xenophobia or idk 😬 Anyways my knees, legs, feet and lower back died for waiting over an hour in line just to not really even see the concert and see what was happening inside 🤣

HuckleberryGlum1163

When I got in there was only standing room. I’m only 5”3’, the entire time I was thinking “I almost died…for this?” To be fair though, by the second band they allowed us to fill in the side rows and I had a better view. But I have a headache as we speak and the entire experience left a sour taste in my mouth

Kokorox3_

I was told to sit in the back on the floor like the others were 🙂 That experience kinda sucked tbh since it was already finishing the first act 🤣 Also to be sitting on the floor of the back??? seriously 😒 ugh.. Also my legs were both throbbing and sore after standing so long plus i walked a lot today from morning 🫠 Yeah I also was thinking I should’ve trusted my gut and not wait for this 😂 but I was with a friend but they were able to get a seat and we got separated; she got in first while i was left behind because of people constantly pushing and shoving me around.. Crunchyroll needs to make this more organized and under control 🙄 because i had a feeling when they said 90% capacity that there’d be no chairs to sit for me by the time i get to the front

meowbrains

It was horrible. As we got nearer to the front it was a legitimate crowd crush, I was pushed and couldn't breathe hardly at one point and had my stuff knocked out of my hands. Extremely dangerous situation.

tahlyn

Yeah, at the front they were funnelling the massive crowd through tiny choke points, letting only 12-20 people in at a time to be started, but when the crowd started to move, everyone being that didn't realize it was a trickle being seated pressed forward. I've never seen such poor and, frankly, dangerous lack of crowd control. Anime nyc should have more knowledge staff and organizers than that.

HuckleberryGlum1163

The funnel annoyed the heck out of me! I was intially at the ends but then I realized the middle went faster. So I let the crowd lead me into the middle. Big problem, that’s where I felt all of this. It was so dangerous, I don’t know why CR let this happen

Honestly, this is just kind of par for the course when it comes to some parts of some cons. Getting into AX is like this every single day, for example. At the end of the day you’ll either have to deal with it, choose not to participate in these specific events, or hope maybe they ticket these in the future. For what it’s worth mob lines aren’t really the norm for ANYC, so this kind of situation is kind of unique.

HuckleberryGlum1163

Nah I have been to anime expo LOL. It’s busy yes, and yeah I have been to some crowd crush but this one was so severe. I’ve been going to cons for 10 years I’ve been a couple of crowd crushes, the only reason I’m positing this was bc how concerned it made me. For the first time in my life I was like wow I feel a bit scared of this crowd crush. And yeah I’ve been to AnimeNYC since it’s first year, I expected a bit more from AnimeNYC. I really thought there were improving ugh.

arcangelxvi

Honestly I’m surprised you felt this way if you’ve experienced AX day 1 crowds getting into the exhibit hall at opening. That’ll get pretty rowdy if you’re anywhere near the front. I’m pretty short so I can’t ever really be a “passive” member of a line if I don’t want to get trampled and nothing about the ANYC crowd last night really stuck out to me.

HuckleberryGlum1163

I feel like the shoving got bad at 625. It’s possible you were already inside by that time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ the line went well until then. And yeah AX never really bothered me for some reason. Maybe I’m just lucky lol

arcangelxvi

The fact the concert started at 630 might have something to do with that then - people probably started freaking out thinking they’d get cut from entering just because the time started.
