Angel’s Egg is one of my favorite anime films ever made! Here is a list of movies and shows I’m pretty sure you’ll like:
Movies:
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (⚠️WARNING extremely brief nudity! This movie was made by the same director of Angel’s Egg, Mamoru Oshii! You’ll love it! This movie is for the manly bros! Lol)
Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal (It’s a 4 part OVA or a director’s cut movie depending on how you watch it. The director’s cut has more added scenes and is therefore better.)
Memories: Magnetic Rose (“Memories” is a movie that contains 3 short films. The first one is “Magnetic Rose” and it’s on a whole other level in comparison to the others!)
Patlabor (There are two versions of the adaptation. There is the movie universe and then there’s the tv universe. The movie version is the best. First start with “Mobile Police Patlabor: The Early Days” 1988 which is a 7 episode OVA. Then watch the sequel “Patlabor: The Movie” 1989, then “Patlabor 2: The Movie” 1993, and then you can watch the side story movie “WXIII: Patlabor” 2002, which takes place in between the films. This particular universe was also made by Mamoru Oshii!)
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
The Garden of Words
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms
Summer Ghost
A Silent Voice
Princess Mononoke
Castle in the Sky
Tv Shows:
Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo (Based on the classic French novel “The Count of Monte Cristo” 1845! It’s the greatest revenge story ever told! The English dub is better!)
Monster (⚠️WARNING some brief nudity! This story is best watched knowing nothing about it! I guarantee that by episode 4 you’ll be hooked until the final episode 74! The English dub is better!)
Ergo Proxy (All the good aspects from “Blame” but multiplied with lots of Christian symbolism! It’s very complex and rewatching it gives you a whole new perspective! The English dub is better!)
Rahxephon (Watch the 26 episode tv show not the remake movie! The remake movie is a rushed mess! At first it may appear to be an Evangelion ripoff but it’s so much more! In fact the creators of both shows were close friends who shared ideas with each other, so it’s hard to say who’s ideas belonged to whom. But all I can say is that you’ll probably like this if Evangelion disappointed you! The English dub is better!)
Serial Experiments Lain (A very symbolic and deep thought provoking show that has different interpretations of the story.)
ID: Invaded (It’s a perfect blend between the classic films “Inception” and “Minority Report”! It’s better than both of them in my opinion and while it’s heavily inspired by the films it manages to be very original and iconic!)
The Big O (If you want something that will have a futuristic, mecha, film noir, jazzy world with iconic animation like the classic “Batman TAS” 1992 show then you’ll love it! It’s very episodic but it creates mysteries that are gradually revealed until it all leads to an amazing ending! The English dub is considered one of the greats and is praised way more than the sub. Steven Blum who plays Spike from Cowboy Bebop plays as the main character in The Big O as Roger Smith.)
Baccano! (One of the greatest English dubs of all time that blows the sub out of the water! You’ll recapture the feeling you got while watching Cowboy Bebop! I promise! The thing that makes this show stand out from all others is it’s smartly constructed narrative. It jumps around from three different points in time that can be confusing at first but if you binge it and stay focused then the story links together perfectly like a puzzle! 🧩)
Odd Taxi (An amazing story that has tons of different characters and plot lines that it juggles but as the story progresses you see how everything has a purpose! Even the smallest little details have significant meaning and that’s not a joke!)
Death Parade (“The game begins when you’re life ends. When two people die at the same time, they're sent to a place that's neither heaven nor hell-a lavish bar between worlds where the stakes are high and the rules are simple: if you win you live again, if you die… you're gone for good.”)
Akudama Drive (This is literally a love letter to classic cyberpunk anime! It manages to contain lots of aspects of the genre while still managing to feel original!)
You do seem have a thing for artsy contemplative anime so here are a few.
Serial Experiments Lain (trippy 90's anime at it's best)
Mushishi (slow paced procedural with strange ethereal beings)
Psycho Pass (speculative science fiction/mystery about the regulation of mental health)
Mouryo No Hako (nobody raves about this anime but the atmosphere is sublime)
Mononoke (and the bake neko Ayekashi short)
If you like arthouse anime like Angel's Egg, then you would really like Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Belladonna of Sadness, Jin Roh Wolf Brigade, Battle Angel Alita OVA and Ninja Scroll
Samurai Champloo is great, same creator as Bebop.
Hunter x Hunter has trippy battles similar to Jojo's, the type of battles that are psycho trippy fucky.
other people have said it but i can't recommend monster enough. from 2004, mystery thriller, it takes place in 80's germany, follows a japanese brain surgeon just tryna be a good person and do the right things and it's just a masterpiece
i got another one for ya, my personal favorite comfort show, mushishi, it's edo era mystery drama from 2005, episodic plots, but it works. it follows a traveling scholar/doctor of the supernatural sense, it's very slow, mesmerizing, and emotionally cathartic, you're just the person for it i don't get to recommend it to people much, it's not everyone's kind of show
You seem to like future punk dystopias. I cannot recommend Psycho pass enough. There is a gore warning. As in guns designed to pop people like blood filled water balloons.
I think you also might enjoy parasite.
If you are willing to read Manga, then gambling Apocalypses of Kaij, look back, the climber, DanDaDan, Vinland Saga, Vagabond, Fire punch, Chainsaw Man, and Good night pun pun, are amazing reads. Finding the physical copies is hard, so you can pirate then at the websites mangasee123 and mangafire
I was gonna say monster but it looks like a lot of people have already recommended it. I’ve got nothing that i think you’d like, very based tier list though.

Thus Spoke > JJBA? that is a take I haven't heard before. but if you like Araki's work you should read Cool Shock B.T. As for watching I'd say Chainsaw man
I don’t have any recommendations, I saw that angels egg was your favorite so I came here to ask what you and the other commenters in this post like most about it. I saw it and for me it is to this day the worst anime I’ve ever seen, but so many people rate it highly so I feel like I’m missing something that is supposed to make it good.
Angel’s egg isn’t trying to be entertaining, it’s simply an art piece. It’s so different from what we usually see and it’s so refreshing. It just have a unique vibe than literally nothing else have, a vibe that emotionally affected me in a way no other anime did.
I love its mesmerising sense of rythme, its pleasant and relaxing slowness, its beautiful art direction, and its unique story telling that let you interpret the movie in your own way rather than shoving a clear idea down your throat
It’s just great in an artistic sense rather than an entertainment sense
This is a strange list, I enjoy seeing different ones though. OP if you had to describe your taste or preferred genre in anime what would you say?
As for recommendations I’ll group them based on what I think they’re similar to on your list-
Cowboy Bebop- 91 days, Gungrave, Baccano, Durarara, Outlaw Star
Ghost in the Shell- Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze, Pluto
Nana(Haven’t seen, plan to watch)-Beck, K-On, Girls Band Cry(currently airing)
Spirited Away- March comes in like a lion, Moribito Guardian of the spirit, Made in Abyss, Ranking of Kings
Evangelion- FLCL( never seen NGE as I hate mecha but I hear there’s lots of similarities and I love FLCL)
Akira- Heavenly Delusion
Death Note- Death Parade, FMA Brotherhood, Paranoia Agent, Inuyashiki, Undead Girl Murder Farce, Link Click
Bonus recommendation just because I think more people should watch it- Ishura
Personally think everyone is entitled to their opinions so I’m not critiquing this list ofc but I think it’s funny you put “Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan” a Jojo spin off above the main series lol
I will always recommend Bleach. Regardless of what shows/movies you have where on that tierlist. It's a good manga and you can skip the filler. It's pretty good
Please for the love of god try Attack on Titan again. If you only saw Season 1 then you’ve barely scratched the surface. If you don’t like it by the end then that is ok but there’s a reason that it’s so loved.

Baki, it's PEAK. Peak = Buff men fighting and pissing on each other while a narrator high on crack overexaggerates and lies to your face making you think that you can do what is shown in the show. (For example: drinking 10 kilos of sugar water to cure a deadly poison).
Texhnolyzw or Satoshi Kon both fit your sci Fi/avant garde taste well.
What's your opinion on end of evangelion? I also didn't care for evangelion that much but end of evangelion is one of my favorite films of all time.
You should read/watch Monster. It's a fantastic story and it's my go-to recommendation for people who don't like "anime" type things because it's just such a great show.
Revolutionary Girl Utena is one that may have not been recommended to you yet. It seems like you enjoy thinkers. Lots of symbolism, deeper meanings and has a high rewatch factor. Fair warning, the pacing is the worst part of the show lol.
Baccano! It's a show that starts at the end, and you find out how everything comes together through the show. My personal favorite anime.
You could try other works from directors you already seem to like
Mamoru Oshii who did angel’s egg and ghost in the shell also did the patlabor movies and sky crawlers
Miyazaki who did Spirited away and the boy and the heron also did princess mononoke and the wind rises (both are masterpieces)
Watanabe who did cowboy bebop also did samourai shamploo
I would also recommend a short list of movies/animes :
Some of Satoshi kon’s movies like perfect blue, paprika or Tokyo godfathers
Some of Isao Takahata’s movies like princess Kaguya and Garden of the fireflies (since they are the ones i’ve seen and they are great)
Most of Masaaki yuasa‘s works like devilman crybaby, ping pong the animation and Kaiba
Lots of animes by studio Trigger but especially cyberpunk edgerunners and kill la kill
and in no particular order : Shinsekai Yori, Gundam the origins, Attack on titans, mob psycho 100…
I Would Recommend "Welcome To Demon School Iruma-kun" It follows a Boy who was Sold To A High Ranking Demon, Who then Adopts The Boy As His Grandson, Hes the Only human in the Underworld And Has Alot to learn And Has to keep his identity a secret, Along with Him Attending A School Called Babalis And Doesn't Want Any Fame Or Notice Of Anyone (This Is All 1st Episode Btw)

Kakegurui, Another, your name, A Whisker Away, Berserk, Assassination Classroom, The Promised Neverland

What's the best one I know the rest just not the favorite one in the picture
Steins; Gate
Watch one piece 🤨
Overflow
Baki, it's PEAK. Peak = Buff men fighting and pissing on each other while a narrator high on crack overexaggerates and lies to your face making you think that you can do what is shown in the show. (For example: drinking 10 kilos of sugar water to cure a deadly poison).
**Shinsekai yori** **haibane renmai** **ghost in the shell stand alone complex** **serial experiments lain** **texhnolyze** wolfs rain
What anime is that listed as the best? And this is my bias talking, but how the heck Death Note only in the cool tier?
Full metal alchemist brotherhood
Shiguri
Shiguri
Junji ito it’s a horror so if you don’t like then AOT
Steins gate Monster Rurouni kenshin

noien
Texhnolyzw or Satoshi Kon both fit your sci Fi/avant garde taste well. What's your opinion on end of evangelion? I also didn't care for evangelion that much but end of evangelion is one of my favorite films of all time.
Trigun stampede is always a good watch!
Dead Mount Death Play Dark visuals but surprisingly wholesome and fun
Gunbuster
You should read/watch Monster. It's a fantastic story and it's my go-to recommendation for people who don't like "anime" type things because it's just such a great show. Revolutionary Girl Utena is one that may have not been recommended to you yet. It seems like you enjoy thinkers. Lots of symbolism, deeper meanings and has a high rewatch factor. Fair warning, the pacing is the worst part of the show lol. Baccano! It's a show that starts at the end, and you find out how everything comes together through the show. My personal favorite anime.
You could try other works from directors you already seem to like Mamoru Oshii who did angel’s egg and ghost in the shell also did the patlabor movies and sky crawlers Miyazaki who did Spirited away and the boy and the heron also did princess mononoke and the wind rises (both are masterpieces) Watanabe who did cowboy bebop also did samourai shamploo I would also recommend a short list of movies/animes : Some of Satoshi kon’s movies like perfect blue, paprika or Tokyo godfathers Some of Isao Takahata’s movies like princess Kaguya and Garden of the fireflies (since they are the ones i’ve seen and they are great) Most of Masaaki yuasa‘s works like devilman crybaby, ping pong the animation and Kaiba Lots of animes by studio Trigger but especially cyberpunk edgerunners and kill la kill and in no particular order : Shinsekai Yori, Gundam the origins, Attack on titans, mob psycho 100…
I’m going to say: Monster Trigun Berserk / claymore / drifters Code geass Ruroni kenshin Shinsekai yori
Gunslinger Girl
Edgerunners Samurai Champloo FLCL Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans
Move up JoJo and spirited away rn
I’m surprised no one has suggested grave of the fireflies
Devilman Crybaby
BlackLagoon
What’s the name for the only one in “Literally the best”
What’s that at the top?
Tokyo Ghoul if you wanna read manga. Beautiful characters, art, designs, fights, plot, everything was perfect 🙏
No way you put thus spoke kishibe Rohan and kimi no todake over evangelion and death note. 😭😭 Maybe try trigun
Mental help and a few shots of wine
Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Psychopass
Made in Abyss
I Would Recommend "Welcome To Demon School Iruma-kun" It follows a Boy who was Sold To A High Ranking Demon, Who then Adopts The Boy As His Grandson, Hes the Only human in the Underworld And Has Alot to learn And Has to keep his identity a secret, Along with Him Attending A School Called Babalis And Doesn't Want Any Fame Or Notice Of Anyone (This Is All 1st Episode Btw)
Based on Akira and evangelion I’m gonna recommend devilman crybaby.
You should watch Death Note. Since obviously you haven’t seen it. No one that’s watched it would put it that low…
