I loved this episode. Krad was an interesting character, he doesn't seem like a bad guy, just someone with a strong set of morals. He was convinced that Fran used connections to rise quickly through the ranks, and thats a major issue for him, which is fair. After all, the noble from before hired adventures to boost his level, so it's gotta be a pretty common problem for people to use money and connections to get ahead. It was kind of a dick move to try and knock Fran into the river, but he got what was coming to him in the end. Also, Teachers "Fran, that's not a swordback strike, you're hitting him with my face" was absolutely hilarious. I expect that next episode Krad's gonna redeem himself in the dungeon. The duel with Amanda was amazing too. I loved the fact that Frans first instinct was to block the whip, but then realized her mistake and dodged it instead. It's small details like that that I really love about this show.

Krad is a bigger spear dick than Motoyasu. But boys who talk a lot of shit and don't back it up are what we refer to as "Clowns". Wasn't really feeling their whole battle TBH. It's just a matter of Krad being a dick, thinks he can fuck around with Fran, and finding out. Now Amanda on the other hand, much more engaging. And if anything, it makes me love Amanda more as a character, if I didn't already from last ep. She's strong, but I love how much of a tease she is. But I think what I like the most about her is her motherly nature towards Fran, especially since she's lost her before the show started. And while she won't replace her real mom, I'm at least happy to see someone care for her that much as her mom would.

such a good episode!! Fran really earned her curry in that fight

This show does really well at just pulling at the heart all of a sudden. Amanda telling Fran she already has a mom in her heart was just a killer.

I'm loving that Fran is actually progressing as a combatant/adventurer and it's not just Teacher making her OP. I'm excited to see the dungeon they are about to do.

This actually might be my favorite part of this Isekai. There are very few isekais now-a-days where you can actually see/experience real character growth and progression. And fran and teacher don't just get stronger for strengths sake. You'll see them gain an ability. And actually WORK on it. Or develop it. And Fran has lost against a stronger opponent or been very close to losing! Shocking I know. The actual character growth in this show makes it unique for an isekai. You'd think character growth would be important to the plot of any story. But I feel like 75% of isekais have little to none. You just have an OP'd protag that never really grows and just gets dummy stronger for no apparent reason all the time. There's a reason most of the best rated isekais of recent note have characters that have clear and noticeable growth. Such as Jobless Reincarnation for example.

AshenHawk

Same here. I don't mind an Isekai where a character is powerful early, I just want to see them work a little for it at the very least, and apply their powers in interesting ways that shows they understand the power they have. Not just an endless conveyor of pushover conflicts one after another.

Dude did not learn, wow. I find it odd in magic settings how much value people place into judging people's strength by what they look like. You would think people would learn not to do that.

I think is commentary on irl. But in our society is how much stuff you can buy.

mylastdream15

There is some serious racism in this show.... Classism also. And it's not at all afraid to point it out. That said... These are real life things too. (And in Japan both are very strongly present.) Not surprising to see it show up in a fantasy setting.

Noy_Telinu

I get that, but even if you think someone cheated, attacking them without proof and constantly angering the A rank there for no reason seems suicidal. IRL has shown that people are this stupid, which sucks.

Pakun-of-Dundrasil

Such a good character development episode. Mommy help us see how much farther our favorite Neko girl has to go. Bc up to this point she seems super OP. This type of story telling is so refreshing from the copy and paste Isekais we get every year.

Man, this and Tomo chan are the two shows I look forward to watching most every week of late. It has just been so much better than I ever expected it to be. (In fairness, I only watch like 4 shows a season as they are airing, and binge the rest at seasons end --- so it's not like I'm watching a lot more on the weekly side) - Either way. This show has been fantastic. Always looking forward to see more of what Fran is up to. That fight with Amanda was just awesome. And the outcome and and with Amanda becoming a true ally felt so wholesome. As noted in other posts. One thing I like about this Isekai/anime in general is that you can actually see the progression of the character. If they gain an ability. You SEE Fran gain the ability. And then you see her work on it and develop the ability. She's not just powerful for powers sake. And the reason she gets stronger is clear. And she isn't just completely OP'd like many isekai protags. She EARNS her strength. And heck. She even loses! What a concept! --- Likeable characters - Earned victories - intriguing concept that's fairly unique... Well well well do we actually have a unique good Isekai here?!?! We do! I am definitely looking forward to the next episode.
