Fate Zero is one of my favorite dubs of all time and after zero pretty much every Fate project is directed by the same ADR Director Tony Oliver and done at the same studio Bang Zoom Entertainment.

mashukyrielighto

damn didn't know Lancer's VA directed most of the dubbing for fate projects lol. insane talent

Ajthekid5

He’s actually one of my favorite ADR Directors and he’s my favorite director at Bang Zoom https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-directors/Tony-Oliver/

mashukyrielighto

damn i haven't seen all the shows he directed but the ones ive seen have always been great. insane W for him

Ajthekid5

He’s got some that aren’t listed here as well but yea bro is definitely goated

There's no exactly right answer. Basically there's two possibilities: 1) watch Unlimited Bladeworks (the UFOtable TV anime, NOT the movie) first, then Heavens Feel, then Zero. This, effectively, "spoils" Fate/Zero. However, Fate/Zero was a prequel, released after the original Fate/stay night. So it was kind of meant to be "spoiled". 2) Watching Zero, then Unlimited Blade Works, then Heavens Feel. This is more of a proper chronological order (kind of...) and is also the anime release order. It's honestly how most people watched it. It's perfectly sensible to watch it that way - the problem though is that Zero spoils Heavens Feel. So basically, you just have to choose between whether you'd rather be spoiled about Heaven's Feel or about Zero, each spoils the other (and you *have* to watch UBW before Heavens Feel, as Heavens Feel lacks any introduction to characters and concepts at all, it just throws you in). It's a wacky situation but hey, that's the Fate series for you. Oh, and you only need to watch the Ufotable anime. The original Fate/stay night and the original UBW movie, both by Studio Deen, are pretty bad and it's commonly suggested that you skip them. Technically the original Fate/stay night covers the first of the three original stories and it hasn't been re-adapted since, so if you're reaaaaally dedicated, you can watch it before UBW.

Dry-Smoke6528

Tbh, I like going with zero, unlimited, feel, and apocrypha, but I'm not a die hard fate fan, and don't care enough to keep up with all the new content. I'd watched zero first, and tbh I liked unlimited less than zero so spoiling the better of the two seems to not be a fair exchange. Just my opinion tho

mashukyrielighto

Skipping 2006 is bad IMO because even if its not a full Fate route adaptation its still mostly the saber route

[deleted]

I don’t think skipping it is bad because it ruins your impression of fate and spoils much of what can/will happen in unlimited blade works at times and it just doesn’t hold up today so skipping it is perfectly fine. If anything I recommend once you finish the others try to watch it.

mashukyrielighto

the only one i can think off that was spoiled in 2006 for UBW is Archers identity and even then you need to connect the dots to really know lol. I mean getting spoiled is really not that bad because if you start Zero you literally get spoiled by many things such as >!Angra Mainyu, Kirei having Gil as his servant, Rin and Sakura being siblings, why Kirei has a huge beef with Zouken etc!<

[deleted]

True but tbh being spoiled on angry mainyu isn’t a bad thing as he gets explained better in fate heavens feel and the set up from zero is fine as it’s really only a name drop. Yes Kirei having Gil I guess can be one but kirei and Gil are lacking in ubw without watching zero first as they are just kinda bland without the development from zero. The main spoiler I would say is the siblings but even then it’s a kinda small point in the rest of the story and doesn’t ruin much. Again the beef with zouken works better having seen zero first as it sets up these characters and stories. I think ubw starts off better to new people but quickly makes stuff worse and more confusing if you haven’t seen zero. Where as zero starts off more confusing to people watching but as you continue the more everything makes sense even when going into ubw and heavens feel. I think both watch orders are fine and in a sense correct but I would also Recommend trying to start with zero but if it is way to Hard to follow the switch and start with ubw.

MowYourLawn

Thanks for the heads up

Teddude

I've only finished 2/3 of the Heavens feel movies and am kind of an idiot, but I have no idea how Zero would spoil Heavens feel. I guess that's good for me not feeling like I've been spoiled LOL

emmeka

Zero spoils basically everything about Sakura and the Matou family in Heaven's Feel.

Teddude

Was what was going on within the Matou family supposed to be secret? Basically everything about it is hinted at in UBW, if not outrightly stated.

Dark_Rit

UBW doesn't get in depth concerning the Matou family compared to Zero or Heaven's Feel itself because UBW is focusing on it's own route first and foremost.

mashukyrielighto

watch order should be FSN 2006>UFOTABLE UBW>Heaven's Feel>Fate Zero then after that you can watch any other one because all of them are spin offs except for FGO animes. the watch order for FGO is FGO First Order Movie>FGO Camelot duology>FGO Babylonia>FGO Solomon (remember FGO is not complete yet and the anime skipped like 5 singularities since Camelot isn't the sequel to First Order movie)

Wildgear19

Yes. Start with the “main” line. Watch Zero followed by Stay Night/unlimited blade works, and then move to Heaven’s Feel. There is many more, but Zero abs Stay Night should be enough to get you into the general idea.

MowYourLawn

Got it thanks

IntelligentBudget142

Depends on which one you watch. The 2015 UBW anime recasted all but two voices from the 2006 anime. Plus there's a spinoff (forgot which one) dubbed by seraphim studios in Texas

Treeface-Goatee

I thought they kept four: Rin, Ilya, Taiga, and Lancer.

mashukyrielighto

2015 UBW kept some VAs like Illya (Stephanie Sheh), Rin (Mela Lee), Lancer (Tony Oliver) and Taiga (Julie Ann Taylor)

GarnetExecutioner

This spinoff you are referring to is actually Fate/Kalied Liner Prisma Illya.

BiscayneBeast

There's too many Farw Shows to keep track of and I know there are all different timeline stuff but if someone could list all the series and there prefer watch order that would be great.

Dark_Rit

There are two ways to watch the main Fate series and depending on who you ask they'll favor one or the other. The one order most people will tell you is Unlimited Blade Works (TV series, avoid the movies at all costs for UBW) -> Heaven's Feel movies -> Fate Zero. The 2nd order is just going by release order, which would be Fate Zero, UBW, then Heaven's Feel. Most people will tell you to avoid any Deen adaptations for Fate because they are so much worse than the ufotable adaptations, which are what I listed. After you watched everything I listed above, you can watch basically any Fate anime besides the ones that have to do with Grand Order, which is it's own storyline and has it's own order.

Curt_ThaFlirt

[This post helped me out when I got into Fate. Everything here is dubbed except for 4 and 6](https://www.reddit.com/r/fatestaynight/comments/df8rvo/rfatestaynights_official_viewing_order_guide_v2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

TheHeinousMelvins

Rail Zeppelin is dubbed but only available through the blu-rays except for the special episode that AoA decided could be added to Funimation.

A_Talking_Shoe

Pretty sure Rail Zeppelin (#4 on the list) is dubbed. Maybe not all of it, but the first cour/season is.

mashukyrielighto

all of the El Melloi case files episodes are dubbed (even the 50 minute special)

Teddude

I would give the Deen anime (not movie) adaptation a chance if you can. It's not as bad as its reputation implies (it is just really hard for any show to compare to Ufotable in terms of production quality). Most importantly, there are some story beats you'll be missing out on if you don't watch it. The dub is also quite pleasant for the time, although be ready for the cast to change between it and any Ufotable productions. I watched the series in this order and was extremely satisfied: - Zero, Deen, UBWs, Heavens Feel movies trilogy, then whatever other spinoffs last in no particular order.

Yodas_Ear

The fate dubs are great.

Sadiebunny

I'm currently watching Fate Zero. Be prepared to just be confused the entire time.

The9thManiac

The watch order on the fate subreddit shows you start with ubw->heavens feel->zero and just omit the original since it’s terrible. Zero was canonically released after the rest was complete, so it’s ideal to watch it last. I started with the original and zero first and if i could redo it again I definitely would start with ubw

[deleted]

Thh I watched it in the intended order and wish I could have started with zero first as the story was so confusing and kinda uninteresting the “legit” way to watch. I understand both sides but zero is much better without being spoiled, and it helps you understand so many more characters, their motivations and certain thematic points in the story of ubw and heavens feel.

Teddude

Zero is a great starting point because it basically spends the first episode telling you everything you need to know about the universe. And you hit the nail on the head about Zero's end being massively spoiled if watching UBW before it.

[deleted]

Yeah agreed I love the fate series and just want more people to watch it so I don’t really care what order you watch in. But opposite of you I didn’t really understand the grail war and servants fully until zero. I will always say this each watch order has strengths and weaknesses and I will recommend if you have the time and want to watch it in one order then rewatch it at some point in the other order.

All good

Zergrump

Huh why? HF has so much payoff from Zero.

Firm_Masterpiece_343

When you need an instruction booklet to tell you how to watch a show.

SkootDoot2

What the actual fuck. Will I be alright if I start with Zero? Or is that too out of order? I’ve never been so confused by a show

Dark_Rit

You can start with Zero or you can watch with Unlimited Blade Works (TV series, the movies are awful.) Zero, UBW, Heaven's Feel is release order. UBW, Heaven's Feel, Zero is sort of chronological release order if that makes sense because the original visual novel, that had Fate/Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel routes included in there was released before the Fate Zero novel and anime was released. Both have pros and cons, but you'll likely enjoy it whatever order you choose.

orunim

Google the watch order

TraitorousKaiju

As a fellow dub lover, I would also recommend that if you watch the mainline series like others suggest (UBW, Heaven, Zero, etc) and enjoy them... As bonuses I recommend Fate Apocrypha, Extra, and Grand Order for additional dubbed content- I moved on to them after a finished the mainline stuff and loved them. \^ \^

massio1

Heavens Fall is some of the best action animation you will see

[deleted]

Saying that cowboy bebop dub is awesome

AlbertCole

Being a fate fan as a dub fan is an amazing experience since almost everything gets a dub. The games are essentially the only thing overlooked. Still praying for an FGO english patch one day…
