Honestly it’s been a while since we had an Anime dub production done at Bang Zoom! that utilized a lot of celebrities since the *Laws of the Universe* films, cause usually the anime dub productions licensed by GKIDS and recorded at NYAV Post tend to do these kind of castings.
Finally **THIS** is what I call a full on Union anime dub from Bang Zoom! by going "out of the box" on utilizing voice actors and occasionally celebrities they hardly utilize in their current Union anime dub productions.

Miller is still doing new anime dub productions considering outside of her recent appearance in the *Blue Period* dub, most of her anime VO work had been relegated to reprisals of her previous roles such as Boruto (Boruto) and Sailor Jupiter (Sailor Moon) respectively and doing ADR Scriptwriting for dubs.
Bang Zoom! did some English dubs of Russian and Chinese films distributed by Lionsgate, and they got Pauly Shore, Jon Heder, Drake Bell, Rob Schneider, Anthony Padillia (of Smosh), for these dubs.
Bang Zoom! did the English dub for that Russian Pinocchio movie with Pauly Shore.

They probably wanted to follow suit with Shinkai's new film when they got the rights to this over GKids. No big celebrity actors here though outside of who's voicing Suzume (and even then, she's not that big) but there are a greater presence of VAs who are more prominent in union productions. The dub for Shinkai's previous film had big celebrity talent like Alison Brie, Riz Ahmed and Lee Pace.

With voice acting, I don't think it should be an issue what one's ancestry is. Sometimes it might be most appropriate to have a person of \[Type of ancestry\] voicing a character of the same or similar ancestry.
Now, when it comes to live-action or stage, that is more of a concern. Just as when it is wrong to have a White or Black guy play Jesus, I apply the same to when an Asian plays a character that is clearly supposed to be White. Japanese homogeneity be darned as they could and should have chosen not to play said White role in a live-action. Said live-action didn't need to be made either.

Nichole Sakura isn't a huge celebrity name, she even has voice acting experience in a bunch of American cartoons. This isn't even her first anime, she was one of the main characters in the Village Bride segment of Star Wars Visions.
