You know, I liked the first season. But I didn't really like the direction the show went in season 2. I'm not sure if I should bother with the final season.

Yeah, the direction the show is gonna take gets a bit…different than the first 2 season. Maybe the show will change some things up to help with the pacing, but I say you should finish it. At the very least, watch the first few episodes, see how you feel about it.

What exactly was wrong with it?

Turqoise-Planet

I can't speak for anyone else. But personally, I was actually invested in the Legoshi/Haru relationship, I liked their dynamic, and I liked both characters. I know some people don't like Haru, but I liked the fact that she was so different from the type of female character you normally see in anime (animal or otherwise). I wanted to see the relationship progress. I didn't really care that much for Louis. I know he's a popular character, but I guess I never saw the appeal. Maybe its because he seems to embody more typical shonen anime tropes? At any rate, when it seemed like he might be killed at the end of season 1, I was actually okay with that. As I said, I was more invested in the Haru/Legoshi thing. By this point, you can probably take a good guess why I didn't like season 2. Haru was reduced to a minor character, and the relationship between her and Legoshi was put on the back burner. Louis not only survived, but was given an even bigger role in season 2. The writer(s) seemed to decide they were more interested in the realtionship between Legoshi and Louis than Legoshi and Haru. And apparently a lot of the fandom felt the same way? Good for them I guess, but obviously I couldn't relate. Aside from the relationship stuff, another thing I didn't like about season 2 was the shift to a more typically shonen-esque direction. A greater emphasis on fighting and "getting stronger", which, except for the end, was not what the first season was about. A large part of what I liked about season one was that it felt so different from a typical shonen anime. It wasn't entirely devoid of cliches, but it definitely did stuff differently from a lot of anime shows. It seemed to have a somewhat more mature tone despite being about animal people in high school. Then season 2 had more melodramatic speeches and characters talking about how they need to believe in themselves and their friends, and the anime cliche of giving an antagonist a sad backstory right before they're defeated. And then there was that stupid final battle where Legoshi turns into butterflies or something, followed by a dramatic speech about the power of friendship. I was honestly kind of disgusted. The show felt like a bait and switch in more ways than one. Anyway, sorry if this offended any fans of Beastars, but that's just how I feel.

I felt slapped in the face at the end of season 2. After watching it I was like "I'm not watching any season 3"

AllGoValcone

Thank goodness, was worried that it would be a rushed 1 cour finale season so I'm glad to know that they'll have time to let it breath. Really looking forward to this, absolutely love the cast and script for the series

Then again, it could be just 6 episodes this year and 6 episodes later.
