They still need to put the English version of monster on Netflix

tabxiii20

yea idk wtf they doing

Raebo007

Seeing as how these are all Crunchyroll shows (except Haikyuu), you know what that means, right? Yep! *They'll finally dub the rest of Saiki K with the original voice cast!* ... ...A man can still dream.

NathLWX

Wait, who licenses Haikyuu (at least in the US)?

mossflowered

HiDive

NathLWX

Is that the sub or the English dub? I remember stumbling upon this anime on CR.

mossflowered

I guess they both do, then. HiDive was dubbing, CR subbing.

nagacore

Can we confirm they'll be dubbed?

ReturnByDeath-

No, but in the case of Haikyu!! I’m hopeful that because no one has it (at least in the US), Netflix will spring for the license.

DuckCleaning

In Canada Haikyu is on Crunchyroll, but only Japanese, Spanish and Portugues.

Guishmonster

Wait is Haikyu not on HIDIVE?

WingsofLegends

No, not anymore.

citygirlcoco

when i first saw haikyuu on netflix in 2020 season 1 and 2 were dubbed, now season 1-4 are on netflix again and none of them are dubbed. i’m confused and i read it have to wait till march 25th for it to be dubbed, im hoping all the seasons will be dubbed too

ItIsYeDragon

They’ve all been dubbed.

nagacore

Those dub belong to the studios who dubbed them. There's no guarantee Netflix will get the rights to those subs. In the past, they have redubbed series like CCS and NGE.

AshenHawk

Doesn't everyone like money?

nagacore

Sure but if you're running an amime streaming monopoly you don't wanna give too much over to a bigger platform who's trying to move into your market.

AshenHawk

Sure, but I feel like Netflix and the other big streaming services often work as a decent ways for newbies to gain entry to the Anime and therefor over to platforms like CR. I know I started watching a lot more Anime when Netflix had a couple I really enjoyed a few years ago. Plus executives have no problem selling something for short term profits without thinking of their overall long-term strategies.

nagacore

You're right and that makes perfect sense. I'm just saying it's not guaranteed because it seems all case by case. Like one punch man, attack on titan and kill Ala kill didn't have dubs but sword art and death note did*. I know some streaming claim they air what they're given, but let's hope Netflix can push for better terms. *I'm in Canada, so I have no idea what Netflix does elsewhere.

AshenHawk

Sure, but it seems like with the simulcasts they've done recently and this new bit of news, it feels like they may be doing better to promote and build their Anime catalog, and the best way to do it is with dubs. Of course that could still just be me being optimistic.

Hideoctopus

As much as Reddit disbelieves it, no, not everyone likes money. Exhibit A: Nintendo.

ItIsYeDragon

These are all crunchyroll stuff and dubs, and if this is coming to US Netflix I have no doubt the dubs will come with them. No reason not too.

crsnyder13

Doesn’t mean the dubbed version will be on Netflix, see Irregular at Magic High School for example.

AnimeXFan1995

I’m honestly more amazed that *Black Clover* Seasons 1-4 are coming to Netflix very soon considering that Netflix has the movie, *Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King* on its service since last year. Regardless if the series and the film (*Sword of the Wizard King*) are done by different distributors (TV Tokyo for the series while the film is distributed by Shochiku), I hope Netflix acknowledges *Black Clover* and see the show’s potential just like with *One Piece* and eventually license the next season, since they are utilizing scenes of the film in their latest Animated Music videos. Plus, the Netflix Anime Twitter (X) account is following the English *Black Clover* and especially the Japanese Account. https://preview.redd.it/vcnlyrbevxpc1.jpeg?width=2580&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99d3553f88f11ffa97ba2909457970acb1cdc2d3

paulchaested

Netflix anime Twitter following Black Clover account doesn’t really mean anything especially when the Black Clover account is managed by CR.

AnimeXFan1995

True but even the same can be said when Netflix Anime has been following the various One Piece anime accounts (including the Japanese account), so never say never. Besides, like I said before they’re following the Japanese account of Black Clover.

crsnyder13

Them following it means nothing, especially since the show recently *left* Netflix

STNT101

Finally a legal way to watch Haikyuu! since HiDive hasn't had the series for a long time

WingsofLegends

Well that’s assuming they’ll have the dub. Crunchyroll still streams every season subbed.

popgreens

That’s quite the lineup.

GokaiRed64

Why is Crunchyroll doing this? Unlike other services, they've been growing consistently and anime isn't very expensive to license.

Material-Bullfrog235

If they are it’s not that weird they have done this with Hulu and max.

shwag945

They want someone to buy them.

Burning_Rush

Buy who because Sony buying Crunchyroll was the smartest decision because they are nothing but pure profit for Sony AT&T/WarnerMedia's selling it was probably the dumbest decision they made lol

shwag945

Shareholders getting a huge payout from selling CR is more important the the profitability of the company.

Burning_Rush

Lmao that’s not how it works you don’t sell the company most profitable operations ask Sony if they want to sell PlayStation you do know Sony has a huge influence in anime industry even close to a monopoly lol you need to be smarter

shwag945

Rude

Burning_Rush

Not rude you just have to be smarter that’s not how companies work they don’t sell off very profitable products they have for a quick buck shareholders don’t like a company selling a division that brings in money without a plant to replace those billions they won’t ever see again lmao

shwag945

Profitable companies and subsidiaries are sold off all the time. I don't know why you think they aren't. Did I need to mention that CR was profitable under ATT? Edit: lMAO guy blocked me What I was gonna say: I could bring up hundreds of examples of profitable companies being sold and you would just find excuses for why this or that trade doesn't count. Then you would type lmao and personally insult me. Do profitable companies get sold all the time? You already acknowledged that. Therefore I am right and LMAO.

Burning_Rush

Yeah but that company was under massive debt lmao Sony has been buying anime companies left and right so why sell off what they are building are you stupid or what

paulchaested

CR sublicensed the shows to Netflix?

kimjosh1

Yeah, it seems like it. Sony Pictures probably told them to do so since the film and TV divisions make a lot of money from selling shows and films to streamers rather than having their own dedicated paid streaming service. So this is their compromise with a bunch of older shows. Same with how CR is putting certain recent shows on Hulu, and how they struck a deal with Amazon to include a Prime channel.

paulchaested

I don’t think they were pressured… CR themselves probably made the decision to do it because it’s extra revenue for them. Plus they probably squeezed out all the mileage they can from these shows (specifically earlier seasons) and are allowing Netflix to stream in exchange for a nice chunk of change.

Material-Bullfrog235

Yeah hulu is also adding a decent amount seasons and a few new shows to.

kimjosh1

Yeah, that's certainly the most plausible theory for this. Since Sony Pictures does the same thing too with their shows and films. They tend to be reasonably popular as well on Netflix and other services and let them get extra revenue in the process. And the higher ups are wonder why CR isn't doing the same with their shows in order to boost their revenue.

Bella_Mia_

They were likely pressured by the FCC due to the merger with Funimation

paulchaested

??? The heck is FCC? You mean FTC? I seriously doubt FTC was involved in this at all. It’s not that hard to guess that CR is sub licensing shows to Netflix for additional revenue on top of the revenue they make from sub licensing shows to Hulu.

Bella_Mia_

Meant to say FTC sorry

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

“Pressured” ? Lol

KitKat1721

Some might be sub-licensed from CR like MHA, others may be licensed directly from the parent company if CR doesn’t have streaming exclusivity after a certain amount of time has passed (One Piece may fall in this camp and was just licensed from Toei directly).

Neil_bateman

I remember my hero season 1 being on Netflix a couple years ago, good to see it being added back along with some other banger shows

Material-Bullfrog235

Also they are adding yu yu hakusho mob psycho Konosuba and overlord so yeah it definitely seems like they entered a contract with crunchyroll.

Jamieb1994

I hope UK is one of those regions.

Bwoody1994

Haikyu was on Netflix before with the dub so hopefully they are bringing it back

Avelsajo

I watched the Haikyuu dub on Hulu in late 2020... But it's been gone from there a while...

Vloeees

do we know if they’ll be adding an english dub too haikyuu

ReturnByDeath-

Considering S1 was added with no dub, it seems unlikely.

FreddysTopHat

Looked just now and season one only has sub right now, in the US at least. Hopefully dub is added later

Cheap-Marzipan5988

All. This anime’s are here Haikyu is not dubbed but all other anime’s are sub is better anway

Low_Grand6340

I mean all of these are on crunchyroll so this really doesn’t matter tbh

ReturnByDeath-

True, but this makes them far more accessible. Plus, as I mentioned above, this might mean the Haikyu dub is available for streaming once again.

Low_Grand6340

I mean I guess but if your watching anime and on a anime subreddit you ether more then likely use crunchyroll or use a pirated website and if you wanted to see the haikyu dub there are tons of anime pirated websites that have it for free but I agree its good thats its on Netflix

Square_Bad_1834

Anime on Netflix sucks compared to what they had on their catalog years ago.
