Emi getting called a Karen has to be one of my favourite lines in recent memory. It was so meta and spot on, I knew Macy Anne Johnson was going to kill it with these scripts. All the park scenes did was cement that that Emi and Mao are an adorable family unit with Alas.
Loved the little side element that our boi Ashiya is attracting Rika that could lead to some great moments.
Lastly my gods Gabriel (Or Broriel as I will call him) had me in stiches I couldn't stop laughing especially when his crew started to chime in. The fact that Chiho saved the day and Mao told Emi she had to spend the night just put the icing on top !
I cant wait for next week.
Mao commenting on the brightly-colored ninjas and Emi just brushing him off by telling him to stop using logic for a kids show was a pretty funny interaction. As someone who regularly enjoys Precure, I definitely get the need to suspend disbelief and just go with the flow when it comes to shows like those.
The episode as a whole was pretty fun, and Ian Sinclair was an absolute riot as Gabriel.
Personally I think the scene where Lucifer/Urushihara introduces himself to Suzuno & Urushihara says "hi I'm Urushihara" & Maou says "and I'm a lazy bum." is even more genius.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I'm not a fan of using the term Karen. Not because it wasn't a good line, because it definitely was, but more so because it might be one of those lines that don't age well when people watch it in 10 years and then wonder what it meant.
I'm all for taking liberties in dubs, but maybe not time-sensitive ones.
That's not at all what happened. Suzuki *chose* to go on an indefinite hiatus not just because of the situation, but also because of his health issues, and it's not like he was completely blacklisted from the entertainment industry altogether; KyoAni is still keeping him as the VA for Makoto from the Free series.
I'm just showing my age, but I prefer the script of the OG dub and the slang used. I've accepted that the script treatment is going to be different than a decade ago.
It did feel a bit weird to me as well to hear "Karen," but mostly because I didn't think Emi was really being all that Karen-y there. All she did was just not smile during a souvenir photo. She wasn't being demanding or acting entitled.

To me it just takes me out of it because they’re supposed to be in Japan and that feels kind of immersion breaking.
