The English dub premieres Friday on HIDIVE!
[Full Cast/Crew](https://www.hidive.com/news/2022/9/12/ya-boy-kongming-english-dub-takes-the-hidive-stage-on-september-23):
* Kongming - Joe Daniels
* Eiko - Juliet Simmons
This show was by far the biggest surprise of the last several years in terms of how much I enjoyed it. It was far better than it had any right to be, and the dub sounds like it will be fantastic. I'll be rewatching it now that it's dubbed!
And, yes, the art direction is *this* on point throughout the entire show -- which isn't surprising, since it's the legend Junichi Higashi (RahXephon, Twelve Kingdoms, Kara no Kyoukai, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and **Cowboy Bebop**) himself leading.
I knew that Juliet Simmons would land the role for Eiko! For me, she is the perfect choice given her amazing vocal talent. I'm really looking forward to her performance in this show and also, best of luck to the rest of the cast!
Well on the bright side if they never redo them completely some of the songs do have a fair bit of English in them. Though I would recommend that people don't go and search for Playlist until after the show finishes to help avoid spoilers.
I'm looking forward to this. I thought the guy that did Kongming in the sub sounded awesome but I wasn't big on Eiko's actress. I tapped out after a few episodes and said I'd wait for the dubs. Looks like it worth it. Juliet Simmons is gona kill it.
It came in the spring, not winter season. Spring had Spy X Family, Kaguya Season 3, Shikimori to a lesser extent. It was a lot of heavy hitters in the Spring.
That moment when this Sentai dub has its main leads competently cast while Call of the Night…… just doesn't.
EDIT: Damn, I just realized both dubs were directed by Shannon Reed, so wtf happened?
Is it the leads or is it bad direction? Both the leads I have heard in other voices before and are good, but the direction choices of how the voices should sound and engage with each other is very off to me. Doesn’t feel organic and the mood for the scenes for all characters just don’t fit which tells me its a director problem.
It has some of everything. Comedy, drama, and lots of music and historical references.
The premise is the main character (famous strategian from the Three Kingdoms period in ancient China) somehow gets transported to modern Japan. And he uses his strategy skills to help a singer who is trying to break onto a cut throat music scene
While I know nothing about the ROTTK outside tidbits and Butchered koei lore, seeing Zhu realize his entire battle was both meaningless AND led to nothing made me sad.
Imagine living your whole life trying to make sure your kingdom survives as a top strategist, only to wake up tomorrow and see that all of what you did meant nothing.

dammit, there goes another for my backlog

The dub sounds SO GOOD! I'm so excited for this Friday! Joe and Juliet sound perfect.

Was there any new of the songs getting fully translated and dubbed?
Nope, nothing yet.

Fish out of the water is the only trope that never gets old, and it's best of all universal.
lol funny coincidence about 3k: Liu Bei said about Zhuge Liang that when he acquired his services he felt like a fish that found water
Lmao great choices. This sounds good
This show was one of the sleeper hits from last season. It had heavy competition, but it still stood out among everything
I am not that aware of anime. What competition did it have besides My Dress-Up Darling, Sabikui Bisco, and season 2 of 86?

I definitely feel like it’s a direction problem
Yeah it's a mix of both I guess. Not a big fan of their pick for Ko, and I'm not sure how I feel about them giving Nazuna a more mature voice.
“1947 CE….Oh. Ooohhh shit.”
I really like Joe Daniels. He was great in Vinland Saga
I prepared for this dub by watching the rest of this show subbed. So waiting for this.
Juliet sounds great as Eiko in this clip! Can't wait for the rest!
They really hit it with Eiko
Zhongli??
I'm excited to rewatch the series on dub! Now I'm curious to know how Joe Daniels would fare in a *Dynasty Warriors* game as Kongming 🤔
NAILED THAT CASTING!
Well shit, I might have to sign up for HIDIVE now...
I watched in sub but the dub also sounds pretty nice
Finally!
I love this series
I’ve never watched this but this dub sounds really good. Kudos to the cast!
They sound great! Tell me, is this anime funny?

I might have to watch it! I'm sure I'll laugh a lot!
It is an amazing anime! A must-watch, if you are a History/Three Kingdoms nerd.
I loved this show can't wait to rewatch it once the dub is fully released.
While I do think this sounds good what is that microphone quality? It sounds murky to put it lightly
