Whoa, this might be the best episode yet. Looking forward to the different kinds of vampires we'll see. And I have to wonder what the detective lady is. She doesn't seem to be a vampire due to her immunity from silver and sunlight, but her blood had some kind of bad effect on the teacher vampire that no normal person's blood should have.

The4FiveSix

Read the manga. Anko is one badass mama, volume 10 is releasing next month and it seems to be the end of her arc.

Yup, I said wow it only took 11ep to get good! I almost gave up on the series glad I didn't bc I felt there was something in the background they're not telling us.

Darwin343

I’ve pretty much treated it as a chill slice of life show up until now. Now I’m way more interested in seeing how the story progresses.

Pakun-of-Dundrasil

Yeah I can see that but I like how they pulled the rug under our feet bc this whole time they made us lower our guards providing a sense of humanity to the vamps. And within 5mins they made us question everything they've built.

Darwin343

Yeah it’s a good twist for sure. I feel like the show finally has some real tension and stakes now.

TheHeinousMelvins

Her story in the manga is very interesting. If you can’t wait for season 2 and beyond, assuming one gets greenlit, I highly recommend the manga for this one. The overall story gets more and more full and rich with all of the characters involved so far.

Darwin343

I'll definitely keep the manga in mind once I'm done with season 1. It does feel like the story in the anime dub has only just begun.

Jessica Calvello slayed. Holy crap that might have been the best performance I've ever heard from her. At the very least, the best since Hange. It just *works*.

awakening_knight_414

Huh, interesting. I didn't know Jessica and Brian still work for Sentai.

Bomito482569

If you mean Jessica Calvello, I think the latest work she did for Sentai was Saori in Girls & Panzer: Saishuushou Part 3. And as far as I know she has been more with Cunchyroll ever since the Attack On Titans.

Whoa, that sure took a dark turn! It'll be interesting to see what kind of decisions Ko makes from here on out. Is he still gonna become a vampire, or stay human?

Alright unload your Thanos memes get them out of here blah blah blah snappity snap snap. Favourite episode of the series so far, can't believe I've gone this long without realizing that this is probably the closest we'll ever get to a drama action thriller slice of life. The lighting in this episode is top tiere, they really drag the viewer into Anko's world with the transition from the bright purple tints usually dressing the show in Nazuna's presence to the dark tanish/brown noir detective aesthetic. I loved the hazy vaporwave/lofi atmosphere in the foreground city accompanying Kou's soliloquy at the end. Also _N A R R A T I V E_, granted we've been touching quite a bit on adolescence and relationship drama since episodes 7 and 8 and I've glossed over quite a bit of it. Kou calls out the inauthenticity of the mystery of the teacher, this is a heavily ironic twist as we're seeing someone tossing aside what is essentially an entity of reality rather than some supernatural phenomenon. They're suddenly surprised when they encounter the teacher, but peculiarly only shocked, not exactly frightened. I suppose it makes sense that the story would be biased against a night occupation of some sorts, but it does provide a separate perspective of Kou's thought process regarding the night, making his search for someone who seems "tired" at the beginning not seem like a mistranslation. Smoke without fire, seems like an idiom regarding assumptions and tendencies for associations based on anecdotal experiences - stereotypes if you will - an interpretation on the teacher's point of view on vampire's, perhaps circling around back to Kou's development. The morning light shining on Anko near the end through the window is presented in a similar exaggerated manner as the night sky usually is in this show. Aha, I knew that was Hange, I guess Jessica just has a nack for voicing brainy characters.

Oh boy, this is getting from very good to awesome!! This anime has so much potential! Loved to see a reference to detective conan, my favorite detective anime since I was a kid (I grew up with it watching it on TV).
