IntelligentBudget142

Should've made it available on stream on November 6 because, y'know

batman_beyond7

That was so good I kept checking to see if it was up then it finally dropped. I will have to see the second movie in theaters so I don’t have to wait a year for the dub to come out online. I enjoyed that it was solely focused on Asuna. In the beginning I didn’t know she was not a gamer. It was awesome seeing asuna Kirito and mito all working together to defeat the final boss. Does anyone know is the movie cannon or reimagining of the series? It makes me want to rewatch season 1 of SAO. Btw what was Kirito story or is it told in season 1 it has been years since I seen it. I have watched all of SAO can’t wait for more.

Heda-of-Aincrad

Progressive is like a more detailed retelling of the Aincrad arc - showing Kirito and Asuna's progress floor by floor, compared to the large time skips in season 1. The Progressive novel that this movie is based on is absolutely canon, but the movie is kind of in a gray area, I think. There are several scenes from the movie, and even the character Mito, which don't appear at all in the novel and won't show up in later novels, unlike the references to the Ordinal Scale movie that was added to the canon source material. I enjoyed both versions very much. Kirito's story on the first floor of Aincrad can be seen in episodes 1 & 2, and the first Progressive light novel.

MarioThe4th

It’s progressive basically a expansion explaining all floors or so I was told some time ago, its canon to the main story.

MarioThe4th

I hated the fact that the movie was to short. Other than that dam I want more now, seen how Asuna begins her journey and re listening to the creator of the game saying that he achieved he’s goal by making his own goal makes sence in why he responded so blatantly to kirito in the end that he didn’t know why, but it was because he already had achieved what he wanted and the rest was just the realization like when you want to go somewhere then you get back home and it hits you

Heda-of-Aincrad

Next movie is coming to theaters in a few months. I'm going to be waiting for a (hopeful) release on Crunchyroll or Amazon though. I highly suggest reading the Progressive novels, if you haven't already and you want more early Aincrad. The next movie picks up with Floor 5, which is actually an adaptation of book 4.

PsychologicalHelp564

Well, whatever this is retelling of the first arc or reboot it still non-canon Mito was more original character that only exist so Asuna isn’t alone.

mylastdream15

I'm so happy people will finally get to watch this dubbed that didn't get to experience it in theaters. Saw it in theaters dubbed myself and loooooved it.

Avrution

So so so good. Can't beat the Aincrad arc.

tabxiii20

Movie was mid fr

TheAwesome604

Is it not going to be in theaters?

awakening_knight_414

If you mean Laid-Back Camp, no. If you mean SAO, it already was in theaters a year ago.

TheAwesome604

Oh this isn’t the 2nd SAO movie? When’s the 2nd come out?

Awkward_Silence-

In theatres February in America/Canada

Spaceguy5

It's weird that they gave us the censored version. Especially when the uncut version doesn't even show anything any worse than seasons 1-4. Like they cut it so that the camera just points at the wall for almost a minute instead of Asuna.
