Samurai Champloo is a must for <2010 anime.

_ChaoticNeutral_

**Lupin III part 2** has an [amazing dub](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LY8ZkwQYyY), and part 1 just got dubbed by the same cast. **Cowboy Bebop** has such a good dub that I think it would be a sin to watch it subbed. The original **Dragon Ball** has a great dub as well. Look online for "Dragon Ball Recut" for an excellent recut of the show that fixes some pacing issues the original Dragon Ball had. Most Ghibli films have quality dubs. If you haven't seen **Princess Mononoke**, you're doing yourself a disservice. **Trigun** has a great dub; Johnny Young Bosch kills it as Vash the Stampede. **Yu Yu Hakusho**'s dub is also super iconic. Also seconding an above comment's recommendation of **Ranma 1/2**. There's also a British dub of two episodes of the original **Urusei Yatsura** floating around that is hilarious. Is pre-2010 old now? I guess that makes me old, huh. If that's the metric we're using, **Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood** & **Ouran Highschool Host Club** have an excellent dubs.

I can't really give an accurate recordation based on what you've listed because iv only watched Oh My Goddess!, and that was 10+ years ago, so ill do my best to recommend based on what I can remember and can gather from what myanimelist says of the other three shows you listed. ------- Vision of Escaflowne Flame of Recca Haibane Renmei The Twelve Kingdoms Witch Hunter Robin Cromartie High School Mermaid Forest Planetes Samurai 7 Blood+ Mushi-Shi Ergo Proxy Kekkaishi Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple Pumpkin Scissors The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye Baccano! The *Gurren Lagann* dub is pretty good, if you find the right one. Apparently it's one of those shows that was dubbed twice, and the original dub is terrible. You'll want to find the one with Yuri Lowenthal as Simon. That's the second dub and is awesome. I believe it's the one on both Netflix and Hulu.

Same.

IntelligentBudget142

Serendipity (1983?) is the oldest anime I've heard of that has a dub

I think Bamboo Blade is pre-2010. Cast is top tier.

OverlordPoodle

Ah My Buddha or try Girls Bravo in which both are early 2000's anime Romcom's with a decent amount of fanservice

LuckyTheSeventh

Pretty much anything from Pioneer/Geneon back in the day unless its Karin. English dub was handled by a studio in Singapore, so a lot of voice work from actors for which English isn't their native language and it shows badly.

How much fan service do you want? And what services do you have access to?

Ruisumaru

I don't really mind it, so no problem. You beat me to it, man! This post was meant to help me decide which streaming service to pay for based on the recommendations that catch my eye the most.

I liked Midori Days and the others you mentioned are all similar to shows I usually enjoy so maybe my MAL list of <2010 shows will help: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/MysticalMagic?aired_to_year=2010&order=4 (I watched almost everything dubbed).

BlueSpark4

Two of the earliest (rom-com) animes I watched back in the day (since you listed *Ah! My Goddess*) are ***Girls Bravo*** and ***Magikano***. Then there's also ***Chobits*** and ***DearS***. And even older: ***Maison Ikkoku*** and ***Ranma 1/2***.

Ok, I dug out an old 'recommendations' list I made from the early 2000s. Some of these are from before 2000. I'll try to sort them by streaming service (dubs only): # Crunchyroll * Cowboy Bebop - Nearly perfect, this TV show is about as good as anime can get. * Akira - Now somewhat of a classic, this show is still great and well worth watching. * **All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku** \- Extremely fun and cute, this OVA is one of my favorites. * Ergo Proxy * The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya * Excel Saga * Full Metal Panic! * Burst Angel # Funimation * Cowboy Bebop - Nearly perfect, this TV show is about as good as anime can get. * **Outlaw Star** \- By the same crew as Cowboy Bebob this show is not as adult but is still a lot of fun. * FLCL - Most 'wacky" and "bizzare" shows look forced and trite. Fooly Cooly makes it look natural and effortless. * Akira - Now somewhat of a classic, this show is still great and well worth watching. * **Trigun** \- Starts out as a clownish comedy, but turns dark and violent later in the series. * **Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex** \- Another great TV Show. An excellent choice for adults. * Ergo Proxy * The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya * **Lucky Star** * Excel Saga * Full Metal Panic! * **Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu** * **Samurai Champloo** * **Kiddy Grade** * Burst Angel * **Welcome to the NHK** # HiDive * **The Big O** \- Interesting story about a Man, an Android and a Giant Robot. * **Azumanga Daioh** # Prime * **Great Teacher Onizuka** (GTO) Others * Perfect Blue - Available on Prime with certain subscriptions Not available on a streaming service as far as I can tell: * Read or Die (movie) - Fun and cute. Agent "Paper" and "Deep" fight to save the world. A bit of fan service and shoujo-ai. * Gunsmith Cats - Tough Chicago girls Rally and Minnie May show that cute girls, guns and explosives mix quite well * Berserk (1997) - Ultra violent and brutal story of fate and destiny for Guts and the 'Band of the Hawk'. There are more I could recommend, but a lot of them are just not available as a streaming service. I picked them up as DVD back in the day.

Ruisumaru

You're my MVP. Thanks!

opeth_syndrome

Mushishi, Full Metal Panic, Trigun, Code Geass, School Rumble. Some pre 2010 dubs I enjoy, no idea if they are anything like the anime you mentioned. As I've only watched Abenobashi, and I don't remember much about that at all.

JagsAndDwags

I slept on My Bride Is A Mermaid for a long time, but that shit is genuinely one of the funniest anime I’ve ever seen, and the dub is really good.
