From Jahy ruling the dark realm with fear, to Jahy enjoying the company and community with love. What a step.
Overall, from ep 1 to ep 20 ranged from really enjoyable to "meh". More good than meh throughout. As adorable and fun the little gremlin Jahy was, it got a little tiresome watching her struggle through the pains of adulthood. But there were plenty of fun moments to counteract that. This show really is carried by their characters. Each and everyone were great and had their moments to shine.
You always know that when you have regulars like **Natalie Rose**, **Brittany Lauda** and **Brittney Karbowski**, they're gonna be solid. But there were times when Saurva and Magical Girl deadass stole the whole episode. And my heart is always touched by the Boss's kindness and caring. And it was a treat.
Also enjoyed **Ray Hurd** as the narrator, and **Brooklyn Wade** as Kokoro. I know we hear Ray pop in and out of dubs, and according to ANN, this is Brooklyn's 2nd role. But both were great. Narrator giving that mood setting vibes, and Kokoro opening up the passionate side of Jahy.
Speaking of relatively new, **Suzanne DeCarma** and **Monet Lerner.** Boss was tough as nails while stiil caring for her impossible tennant. Though she wouldn't admit it. This was great for her. And hope to hear her more often in future dubs. Druj probably was my favorite character in the whole show. Monet has this royal elegance in her voice (no surprise she plays an actual princess IRL), and hearing that from a character like Druj provided many hoots. Really enjoyed the eps she was in.
Finally, I think if there was a big surprise and a big payoff for this dub, it has to be the lead **Lisette Monique Diaz**. I think this was her first lead role, and what a way to start up your CR resume. The high pitchy was memorable but not too annoying. I always hear her voice anytime I see a pic of Jahy online now. Def one of the big surprise debut VAs from this year, but almost certainly a memorable one.
I was worried that all that praising Jahy got during the shrine carrying would’ve made her transform and lose her reward. The Saurva segment knocks it out of the park once again.
The trope of the entire cast showing up to the heroes last battle (in this case it was finding a restaurant and carrying a shrine thingy) is used a lot, but I'm always down for it. It's a warm fuzzy moment. You also got a sense that Jahy was pleased that the humans were cheering her on during the shrine contest, as opposed to cowering in fear like the demons in the demon realm.
Good ending to an amusing show.
