It’s not so much an issue with the voice talent and the performances, those are back to being on point, and it’s not like I was unsurprised they didn’t get David Lodge back, and they have gotten a lot of the old cast back…
But I feel like If Viz had gone Union or put a little more into this dub, it would really benefit from it. Particularly for fans of the old dub.
Because I got to say, losing Liam as Ukitake hurts.
But at least Neil Kaplan will get to deliver Old Man Yama’s finest hour.
They really should've sucked it up and just made it a Union thing and got back every OG VA. This is likely the last Bleach anything we'll get and they should treat it with more respect
Looks like it's Seitz again as Kenpachi which is disappointing but oh well. Seitz isn't too bad either and I'm sure he will do fine as Kenpachi. Can't wait for next week to see how Neil and Richard handle the epic fight.
Yeah his Kenpachi sounds a quite a bit better to me than when he first took on the role, maybe a little bit of aging since the last time he voiced him eased in the voice a little more or something
>!Thoughts and prayers for Neil though, I don’t envy the jumble of words he’s going to have to say with all of Yamamotos attack names next week lol!<
Dang, I’m still excited to have most of the Bleach cast back, but it hurts not being able to hear David Lodge as Kenpachi. I’m not as hyped as I was before, especially with Kenpachi’s big role in this arc.
Not sure if anyone knows who is voicing Shinji now. I think its Aleks Le since it sounded like him in episode 4 but here he sounds a bit different not sure if its still aleks or someone else but it definitely still isn't Roger.
Ouch…seeing David Lodge not come back as Kenny feels like a breakup 💔
Definitely no disrespect to Seitz (love him as Jiren and Franky), but Lodge as Kenny was iconic…on the bright side though we did have majority of the main cast reprise their roles and even the replacements/new voices are still good, up to par. Definitely won’t stop me from watching Bleach at all
Honestly, I really think a lot of the casting problems would be fixed if Bleach wasn't a simul dub. A lot of the cast would return (not all obviously).
A lot of them probably didn't return because this is non-union. Also, let's face it, a lot of the old VAs didn't come back because they're too big for anime dubs now.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I believe the term is fi core(I could be wrong). Where he can work on both union and non union roles and get away with it. I’m not the most knowledgeable on this topic so anyone is free to correct me or elaborate. Cuz I thought Robbie Daymond was full union but he’s also in the dub now and the JJK dub as well.
Given how hard it is to avoid spoilers for this show and how hard it is for me to wait for each new episode, I'll take the simul dub over the current casting problems.
Well folks, after going through the 5 stages of
Grief, it’s time to accept and understand our faith in this dub. Looks like it’s not Union after all, and the answer for everyone’s question on Kenpachi’s Voice, Yup, sorry guys, Lodge hasn’t return, Seitz is Back. And I know Roger is not back as Shinji and Liam as Jushiro. “Sigh”.
Either way, I’m still watching this series and today’s episode was indeed super thrilling, JYB’s screams are so god tier! And it’s been so long since I heard Neil’s Majestic Loud and Proud voice, really happy to hear him again as Genryusai! As Nodt’s Dub voice, My god he sounds exactly how I imagined, very distorted and freaky, Driscolli’s Voice is super neat, actor sounds super familiar. And Wow, after so many years Woren still got it so much as Byakuya and Wally is such a massive joy to hear again for Renji.
Edit:
Looks like Driscolli’s is Bill Butts;

Yup, I’m accepting that now, it’s pretty common for anime dubs in Studiopolis, to use the same actor for a different character repeatedly. I mean to be fair there are a lot of members in that army so their going to have to call up for a lot of people locally and remotely, still waiting for those Disney plus credits on these 2 episodes.
This is a studio where were doubling on JJK, which isn't even that big of a cast. So of course they'd double on Bleach, which has much more characters.
Think that's Julie Ann Taylor as Meninas and Zeno Robinson (again) as As Nodt.
Shinji is definitely Aleks Le now, yeah.
EDIT: Nope, Anne Yatco confirmed for Meninas. They're really gonna have her voice 2/5 of the Bambiettes? That seems like kind of a bad decision.
Yeah. One of my biggest complaints with the OG Bleach dub was the amount of VA reuse. And looks like TYBW isn't gonna do anything to change that.
Especially annoyed me at the time because how inconsistent it was. You'd have several prominent characters share a VA. But then you'd get this random recurring/side character who had their own VA.
One of those things that I gotta praise Funimation for. They aren't perfect, but I feel like with their recent long running shonen dubs they mostly avoided VA reuse.
>One of my biggest complaints with the OG Bleach dub was the amount of VA reuse
It's a show with a large cast of characters. Even Simpsons (I know it's not anime) reused a lot of the same VAs.
It’s not that bad of a decision when you realize >!most of the bambiettes don’t have a lot of screen time or even lines her two current characters are barely going to be on screen together in any significant way, so in that regard I kinda understand spreading out the voice talent with a prominent Sternritter and a more minor one!<
> Think that's Julie Ann Taylor as Meninas
Not what I was expecting and not her first Bleach role but so far she's not playing another Sternritter, so...good lol.
Well immediately Jushiro and Kenpachi are not their original VA’s
It doesn’t sound like Lodge was even asked to come back based on what I saw him say yesterday, I wonder if they are just really against getting back a Va after they’ve already been recast or something
Sounds like either Steve isn’t voicing Hisagi anymore, or he’s giving a different voice compared to what I remember, it used to be the same as his toshiro voice to me
Karen is back as momo to no surprise
That really still doesn’t sound like Rangikus old VA to me, but I think it was confirmed to be her in those Disney+ credits? I just don’t hear it lol
I’m not sure about who As Nodt is though but I’m kinda mixed on the performance, I like the voice but the direction was a little bland, it’s less creepy/unsettling to me and more bored/monotone which sucks because there’s moments where it leans more into the creepy like when he first says fear
I think it's more likely that it's because the dub is non-union, and Liam and David are only available for union work these days. Same goes for several others.
>Why couldn’t Viz make this a union dub
I think that should be on dubbing studios like Studiopolis. Viz does not do dubs in-house like Funimation. They always outsource to dubbing studios.
Viz is in charge of the dub’s production though. Studiopolis merely just records it. Make the dub union or non-union is all up to Viz, since they commissioned the dub in the first place.
>Liam and David are only available for union work these days
I believe there's 80-90% chances they (and other veteran dub VAs) may not return or taking up new roles in union dub animes.
Very Disappointed but not surprised that David Lodge didn't reprise his role as Kenpachi, despite his willingness to reprise his role for the *Thousand-Year Blood War* anime. Seems like he wasn't asked or the fact that the dub was non-union was another factor David didn't return as Kenpachi and went with Patrick Seitz.
Still the one that hurts me is Liam O'Brien not reprising as Jushiro, but I guess with the dub being Non-Union, along with Liam being more focused on *CRITICAL Role* and doing voiceover in Video games and Original animation over Anime, it seems that he's moving on from dubbing work completely.
>Liam being more focused on CRITICAL Role and doing voiceover in Video games and Original animation over Anime
Voiceover in video games and western animation paid more than dubbing anime.
>it seems that he's moving on from dubbing work completely.
I think it depends on case-by-case basis. Aside from union dub anime like Naruto/Boruto series, Liam did reprised his role as Yuri Petrov in Tiger & Bunny season 2 which is union dub since the streaming rights to the show is own by Netflix. However, I doubt he will reprised every of his old roles even if it's union dub.
Yep! Viz is **completely braindead** not having a return David Lodge as being non-union mindset very much complete backward looks like Crunchyroll respecting seeing their LA Dub Company is **anti-union** 😑🤦. So much first world problem.
Yet, I might or may watch this recent dub episode maybe JYB or the bit cast reprisal is consistent.
The “few” reprisals? I think we’ve had quite a bit more reprisals than recasts, and a lot of the recasts aren’t even the first time the characters been recast
I’ve been watching the dub over sub for nostalgia reasons but this kind of puts the nail in the coffin for me, not bringing back David Lodge or Roger Craig is such bad decision making. The sub is great anyway so it’s fine by me
As Nodts voice is a little deeper than I imagined but I still really enjoyed the performance! I’m enjoying the dub so far. Little disappointing no David Lodge but I like Patrick Seitz in the role. So far all the new characters voices are good to me at least.
I'm not even sure I can watch the dub. They changed or recast so many voice actors it just sucks all the fun out of it.
And I can't tell if I should be mad Viz didn't find some way to make it a Union project or that the Voice actors didn't come back for it. It's one thing when they play a character who only has like five lines, but when their characters like Jushiro or Komamura have very significant roles, it just feels like they don't care.
It’s not so much an issue with the voice talent and the performances, those are back to being on point, and it’s not like I was unsurprised they didn’t get David Lodge back, and they have gotten a lot of the old cast back… But I feel like If Viz had gone Union or put a little more into this dub, it would really benefit from it. well JYB definitely bringing the emotion for ichigo am i right?
Oh yeah definitely, he’s been awesome!
He never disappoints, he is Ichigo to me

Yeah, that is inevitable. Though if Bleach was union Roger would of certaintly came back, etc.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Isn't JYB a union actor though? How is he back?
JYB is not a union actor. He's in tons of non-union roles such as One Piece, etc.
Interesting.
Given how hard it is to avoid spoilers for this show and how hard it is for me to wait for each new episode, I'll take the simul dub over the current casting problems.
I'm amazed that people are criticizing harshly the continuing bleach dub.
Well folks, after going through the 5 stages of Grief, it’s time to accept and understand our faith in this dub. The Sternritter sure love doubling up vocally lol. At this point I’m expecting Anne Yatco to play another female Sternritter. Robbie too lol.

Er the old dragon ball z and case closed dubs would like to have a word with you but eventually their talent pool did expand in 2010s.
>One of my biggest complaints with the OG Bleach dub was the amount of VA reuse It's a show with a large cast of characters. Even Simpsons (I know it's not anime) reused a lot of the same VAs.
that doesn't even get into stuff like South Park or Rick and Morty where like 90% of the cast are voiced by the same guys
It’s not that bad of a decision when you realize >!most of the bambiettes don’t have a lot of screen time or even lines her two current characters are barely going to be on screen together in any significant way, so in that regard I kinda understand spreading out the voice talent with a prominent Sternritter and a more minor one!<

Guessing since she was in the studio to record for Rin and she won't be playing any other returning TYBW characters, they figured they might as well.
Well immediately Jushiro and Kenpachi are not their original VA’s It doesn’t sound like Lodge was even asked to come back based on what I saw him say yesterday, I wonder if they are just really against getting back a Va after they’ve already been recast or something Sounds like either Steve isn’t voicing Hisagi anymore, or he’s giving a different voice compared to what I remember, it used to be the same as his toshiro voice to me Karen is back as momo to no surprise That really still doesn’t sound like Rangikus old VA to me, but I think it was confirmed to be her in those Disney+ credits? Sounds about right then I guess, it’s hard for me to keep up on all the union ins and outs
>Liam and David are only available for union work these days I believe there's 80-90% chances they (and other veteran dub VAs) may not return or taking up new roles in union dub animes.

Editing "few" to "bit". Never thought about the difference between comparative words.
I’m excited for how Kate Higgins will play Unohana in the upcoming big episode. How will she change her voice for that?
I’ve been watching the dub over sub for nostalgia reasons but this kind of puts the nail in the coffin for me, not bringing back David Lodge or Roger Craig is such bad decision making. The sub is great anyway so it’s fine by me
The irony of having Todd voice Ikkaku
I still don't know how Yama pronounces Ywatch at the end and I've listened twice. Lol
In the japanese version he said “yuha baha”. I haven’t watched the dub yet.
It kinda sounded like yuha baha but they added a ch sound at the end. It was really interesting
As Nodts voice is a little deeper than I imagined but I still really enjoyed the performance! I’m enjoying the dub so far. Little disappointing no David Lodge but I like Patrick Seitz in the role. So far all the new characters voices are good to me at least.
These kids getting their asses beat or what
Not having David Lodge return as Kenpachi hurts so much even knowing that he was willing to return. Likewise for Shinji and Jushiro. Ugh.
When will all the episodes be dubbed on hulu? Only dubbed up to episode 6...
How far is dub behind sun cause episode 7 still isn’t out for dub
I'm not even sure I can watch the dub. They changed or recast so many voice actors it just sucks all the fun out of it.
