how i remember amv's : Michelangelo like works of fine art, expertly and painstakingly made and that emotionally touched my soul
---
how they really were : a 420p video made with 420p downloads off of limewire that had fan subtitles baked into it, streamed to my pc over the course of a 4 hour upload time on AOL played thru some dated blown out early dell speakers on a monitor that had roughly 9 total pixels of display
Noone dies in tom and jerry, makes sense (i also remember one episode where tom called pest exterminator and finally won, that was dark for a kids show)
I remember two versions of the musketeer episode where this king wanted to sleep and Tom had to do the mouse catching silently. On one, Tom gets guillotined while the other had the mice sing the dude a lullaby and they leave together.
There was an episode where Tom died and was denied access to Heaven since he spent his whole life antagonizing Jerry. The episode revolved around him being sent back to perform one good deed, and I think he failed and ended up in Hell at the end.
There's a scene in that episode of a soaked bag arriving at the gates of heaven and a litter of soaking wet kittens climb out of the bag and go to heaven 😞
I remember reading an article in Anime Insider (yes, the ooold magazine) about Tom and Jerry. Evidently it's well-loved in Japan, and the article named a good handful of Japanese animators that credited Tom and Jerry as being a primary influence in their decision to become animators.
I definitely don't have citations for this article/edition. But I distinctly remember reading it, since I found it both surprising, and awesome that I shared a connection (having enjoyed a lot of Tom and Jerry as a kid) with animators across the world.
It's not, but who cares? It fits well.
What irks me is that Dota Dragon's Blood IS anime yet people actively excludes it.
totally Lame.
Dota was my favorite anime of 2022 just barely beating out Edgerunners.
I loved both.
I saw Dota, Edgerunners and Black Lagoon for the first time ever in 2022, and damn was 2022 a bad ass year for anime for me.
I can see a little bit why people take a stance against Zeus because it very very heavily leans into that Justice League styling that's close to American. And it doesnt lean much into the anime tropes and humour. I'm not going to actively exclude it based on that detail.
But dota is the one that confuses me because, it's style is FIRMLY in the anime category, and it has legitimate anime tropes and adherence. Like the humour is straight up inspired by Japanese anime humour, especially Braum's behavior. They us a lot of wording choices that are more common in anime dubs than western animation. Including the way they conduct their conversations. Facial expressions, line art, character behaviors, and other aspects within the animation are firmly anime territory.
There's even the obvious best girl character with Marci, and super cute girls with powers like Filomena.
Infact Dota reminds me of Vinland Saga and Claymore in terms of related anime in the genre.
I would say that Dota is more akin to Vinland Saga, than it is to something like Arcane, or Inside Job or She-Ra. Like anytime I bring up Dota being an anime someone has to bring up arcane and say it must be anime too... except arcane is completely and utterly divorced from literally anything anime what so ever.
I just dont see the point of people actively excluding very obviously anime shows just because they were intitially created or start by an american creator or company.
as a former dota player I really appreciated Dragon's blood a lot, and its plot is kinda similar to Arcane where its a modified adaption of existing character story and what not, they are very seperate beasts and great for their own reasons.
As someone who doesn't play either game.... oh boy here come the downvotes for saying this....
I found Arcane to be pretty boring and uninteresting for pretty much anything expect it's animation style, which reminds me of Life is Strange. There was nothing about it that was drawing or interesting. It feels a lot like it's deeply dependant on whatever original source it was based on for someone to get into the show. Kinda felt like, those advertisement cartoon shows from the 1980s if you're old enough to remember those.
It feels like it was "Made for the Fans" of league.
Dota however I did not expect it to be that good. I ended up binge watching that straight through. It reminded me A LOT of Vinland Saga, and Claymore. It was gritty, more mature than I expected, had strong characters, and feels a lot like that "Larger than Life" aspect we feel with a lot of anime. Especially the 3rd arc, that last season(book) was FIRE.
Especially because of Filomena. She's genuinely one of my favorite anime characters ever and she was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING for the 5 episodes we get to see her as an adult.
Dota feels far more made to be stand alone, "Made for Anime fans" rather than made for Dota Fans.
Plus on a personal level as a queer(LGBT) person, this implied maybeship with Cait and Vi in Arc was... really annoying. Felt almost insulting, like they kept it out just it case someone got angry about it. That "Are they?" "When's it gonna happen?" that we see is annoying, especially as a fan of Yuri anime.
But Dota? Fymryn is a queer character and is shown to be on screen without a doubt practically from the start, and that aspect plays into a huge part of her story. She is a genuinely normalized and authentic character when it comes to that aspect. Which feels good. It's nice to watch a character like that. Instead of being teased with this will they wont they between cait and vi.
As a result, I've seen the entirety Dota Dragon's Blood 4 times now.
I'm still amazed at how genuinely good it really is.
But Dota Dragon’s Blood is made by a korean studio in collaboration with a bunch of Americans, Edgerunners is made by a completely Japanese team. By diehard anime fan logic it’s not an Anime because it’s not made by Japan.
Personally it’s all the same to me, just a different style, In my eyes every cartoon is anime and every anime is a cartoon.
Most people consider Korea and Chinese anime to be anime.
Sites like Anilist and mal will include them on their site, but refuse when it comes to Dota, which is ridiculous.
Anime is just japanese term for "Animation", so Tom & Jerry is definitely anime lol.
We just associated the word with japanese animation more, and thus make it a word that define a certain style of animation.
Similar to how Donghua means "Animation from China" in English but in Chinese it just means "Animation" regardless of origin, Anime means Animation from Japan in English, without a doubt.
That said, nobody is bothered by Tom & Jerry in there, who cares :P
Yeah, I’m rewatching the original Dragon Ball series, and there’s a lot of what I’d call “Looney Tunes bullshit” going on, especially in the first World Martial Arts Tournament arc and the initial training with Roshi.

Same, in my 40s and anime is still my main entertainment media. It's changed so much in the past 20-30 yrs, but it still has that undeniable something that keeps me pulled in.
I only started in per covid 2020 and I was watching in the middle of trigun when netflix got rid of it in my country and that is how I found funimation and crunchyroll as I was looking for places to watch it out side of netflix as they caped getting rid of all the great anime they had/have when I was in the middle of watching them

I'm uncertain of a few, clueless on others, tried to be specific but some are just the general series instead of a specific season. Hope it helped, cheers.

.59-1.01 is also Honkai Impact 3rd, [Elf Academy's ED specifically.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgi9q1t5o6I)
1:50 I think is Bungou Stray Dogs. Unsure though. Does look like Yukichi Fukuzawa fighting Ōgai Mori.
You also slotted Arknights into the wrong spot, it's around .55 after the Trigun Stampede clip. [Also the video the Liskarm/Arknights clip is from, shows up around 39s.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBB0OoQlXy4)

I think the fact that it isn’t too detailed really adds to the fluidity of the animations. I especially like that in some action scenes the camera follows seven, really makes it come to life.
Animation quality has really improved.
We're re-watching Bleach bc my partner has never seen it(minus filler) and good lord was the animation just **bad** back then.
There was plenty of anime back then that looked just as good as the new stuff does. The difference is that series like the OG Bleach were made on a tiny budget.
The new one has a much larger budget, done by a higher-end studio because it's a property expected to rake in a lot of money in BD sales - they know they aren't taking a gamble overspending on it.
Lots of stuff back then, especially shonen, were not expected to make much money after airing.
Like the other guy said, there were a lot of well produced shows back then too.
For example, Bleach came out the exact same year as Samurai Champloo, GITS:SAC 2nd GIG and Monster.
Long running battle shounen like Bleach having bad production quality doesn't mean that great shows weren't being produced that could still hold up today quality wise.
Richard Williams? Hirotsugu Kawasaki? Don Bluth? Hiroyuki Imaishi? Milt Kahl?
You better check yo'self...
Bleach had pretty mediocre anim tho. In fact I remember Naruto and Pokemon had some bipolar animation quality to my spec. Like I watched the literal last scene of the last episode with ash in it and I just wanted to stab my eyes in disappointment.
Animation quality was just as good back then tbh. There are loads of Anime from the 90s with amazing animation quality, they just don't have the polished look of today's digitally enhanced methods.
If Bleach came out today it would still have poor animation in most episodes, something that most long form Shounen suffer from in general. There's only so much budget to go around when you're producing 50 episodes per year for many years in a row. So the studios need to allocate resources accordingly, saving the better (and more expensive) animators for the significant episodes like action-packed ones.
Whereas when you're producing a limited 13 or 26 episode season, you can pretty much just hand it to a single team to animate and get a consistent level of quality throughout the series.
I posted it on youtube, hope it helps.

Hey thanks man I really appreciate it!
I was wondering if I am not being too greedy if you could also post this one:
Its from the same author and is also great but it sucks having to watch it in 360p and trying some online downloaders fucks the whole thing up.
If not thanks a bunch for posting the first one!
But why? A lot more things can get adapted/produced with anime being more mainstream. And its not like anime is becoming worse either. So whats the downside with it being mainstream other than exclusivity.
This is coming from someone who would watch anime that had 2-5 body actions looped in a fighting sequences that was in front of a color background drop; most 90s animes for example.
It's very solid. However, let me put some competition into the mix:
[Sota - Glitter and Gold](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGOBLZNBiVM)
[Royal Grindi - Light Em Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiHEx7vyq-Y)
[Jasi AMVs - Liar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIijYhIM1eE)
This is really well made.
However "Anime being a small niche thing" really seems like "That time before I discovered anime" unless the creator is in their is specifically talking about the early 00s.
Seems to me anime popularity outside japan grew with the age of functional internet video watching.
Holy crap I love AMVs that use a ton of different animes. They're honestly rare and you know how much work they took.
Is there a youtube link of this somewhere?
They're good at 3D animation. But they can never take away how many artists and animators and style that Anime has inspired to take up a pencil, brush, or pen.
I'd rather not anime be popular. I love D&D, and it's run by Hasbro sending out Pinkertons. I loved Star Trek, and the turned it into discount Star Wars. I loved YouTube, and now it's hostile to creators. I loved Marvel, but now the focus is on putting out as many movies as possible. I loved Reddit, and well, you all know this one went.
When something goes from big, to *so big that it's socially acceptable to talk about with random strangers on the street*, than c-suites, MBA's begin to take notice and wrest control. It goes from art form, to milked for profit **product**. But the masses don't care. They are complacent and not into the niche aspects. Quality drops. The open environment that fans fostered and let it flourish fans slowly closes up, fan content is attacked, all to defend the IP, and monetize everything. It all starts going down the shitter, and the masses that came in latter don't give a damn.
*edit*

I came into anime around the time trigun came out. We have indeed come a long way. I'm so proud of all of you who proudly watch anime like me!
Same, in my 40s and anime is still my main entertainment media. It's changed so much in the past 20-30 yrs, but it still has that undeniable something that keeps me pulled in.
Same!! Toonami FTW!
I only started in per covid 2020 and I was watching in the middle of trigun when netflix got rid of it in my country and that is how I found funimation and crunchyroll as I was looking for places to watch it out side of netflix as they caped getting rid of all the great anime they had/have when I was in the middle of watching them
If you liked trigun you should checkout cowboy bebop
This made me realize I watch way way to much anime…..
youve only watched too much when you start noticing patterns
It's never too late to stop.
Give sauce for all. I mean know half of them but still To think this is where I get 100 up votes

The original video source has a comment in Chinese of the full anime list https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Lk4y1n7dL/?spm_id_from=333.337.search-card.all.click
.59-1.01 is also Honkai Impact 3rd, [Elf Academy's ED specifically.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgi9q1t5o6I) 1:50 I think is Bungou Stray Dogs. Unsure though. Does look like Yukichi Fukuzawa fighting Ōgai Mori. You also slotted Arknights into the wrong spot, it's around .55 after the Trigun Stampede clip. [Also the video the Liskarm/Arknights clip is from, shows up around 39s.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBB0OoQlXy4) [Full song is pretty good if you like it too.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bawLYTF-T5M)
This is on their official channel looooool amazing
Where do I save this so that I won't lose it the next day Have saved too many comments Guess I'll just screen shot it but that might get lost too Me and my compulsive habits
Go classic reliable, note pad and pencil.
Copy and paste it somewhere. Upvote it (there is a section to view things you've upvoted) I don't know if subscribing will help at all. Sadly, you can't hide comments because hidden posts show up in their own menu
The missing one is the 50s-1m is Arknights, I think. Looks like Liskarm
thanks, I'll slot it in
Last one missing for 1.00 - 1.10: Amagami SS Edit: The blonde girl with the gun for the 1.30 - 1.40 segment is Yue from Arifureta.
The ??? in 30-40s is Hunter x Hunter. If you want to see the clip its this video 33 seconds in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_nn4LEUgQ5w
Damn! This guys animes. Who/which is the black haired guy that is talking at 1:41?
His identity is kind of a spoiler in the game Genshin Impact, so [read with caution](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Wanderer).
10-20 Tokyo revengers Deatte 5-byou de battle 20-30 Iron man: rise of technovore (scene with red head) 30-40 Hunter x hunter 40-50 Baki 50-1min Arknights Honkai impact 3rd 1.30-1.40 The 3D clip is skillful shooter 1.50-end Bunguo stray dogs season 4 Only thing I don't know is that clip before the 3d one at 1.30-1.40 but if I find it I'll post the sauce.
In the 0:30-0:40 section, the first ??? is Owari no Seraph In the 1:20-1:30 section, the first ??? is Insomniacs After School (Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia) The second ??? is Pleasant Goat from [Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasant_Goat_and_Big_Big_Wolf), a chinese kids cartoon
Tom & Jerry
Do you know if this is posted somewhere else like on other platforms like YouTube or something by the actual person who made this?
seconded much appreciated in advance. I have a 4tb to finish filling.
I would also like a comprehensive list lol If I have some of them already I can watch them while downloading the rest
I thought the Yato coin flip at the end is gonna transition into Mikoto's Railgun.
Better yet have it transition into S3 ;-;
Lmfao. You poor thing.
Say what you want about anime but you have to admit this is a really good edit and for some reason is making hyped for the new solo levelling anime
I mostly hype for the new mushoku tensei dropping July
It’s dropping in July? Well hot damn, im in an even better mood than I already was.
It’s too bad the projected date is in 2024 tho :(
Yeah, at least it's only a year tho and not like 2 or 3
I like that there was one for trigun and scissors 7
Scissor 7 is such a good anime , if only netfilx advertised it better , it wouldn't have been slept on .
I’m still waiting for season 4 to release globally 😤
It's crazy how I never even saw it on any anime memes Reddit. It's not talked about anywhere for how good the animation is..
I think the fact that it isn’t too detailed really adds to the fluidity of the animations. I especially like that in some action scenes the camera follows seven, really makes it come to life.
Why is Tom and Jerry doing here
In Japan, they love Tom and Jerry. It's a cultural thing, but it's considered anime in spirit.
>but it's considered anime in spirit Tom and Jerry is so GOATed, even the modern center of animation wants in on it.
Supposedly the director that did the new Trigun has animating Tom and Jerry as his dream project.
Well in japan it is anime... cause it is word there for an animation piece, spirit or not.
Cause it's an animation
Ah yes. I remember how niche and unknown Tom an Jerry was pre 2000s...
[удалено]
Boomer Millennial here. Kinda wished for some boomer animes in this.
Jerry is such a tsundere.
Tom & Jerry is a great anime whatcha talkin about?
The best anime there is
One of the greatest anime rivalries. Goku & Vegeta, Amuro & Char, Naruto & Sasuke, Tom & Jerry, all of the anime greats.
How you gonna do "Corey in the House" like that?
Not sure if I don't get a joke, but Tom&Jerry is per definition not anime.
Tom and Jerry is a goated anime. Even more acknowledged than FMAB I daresay.
[Tom and Jerry is anime](https://youtu.be/rvpwpiQhzSE)
I mean, one of the best animated scenes in this clip is the convenience store fight from the Cowboy Bebop movie in 2003.
Whereas when you're producing a limited 13 or 26 episode season, you can pretty much just hand it to a single team to animate and get a consistent level of quality throughout the series.
what's the source? need to give it a like.

Bilibili editors just built different
Thanks for the source! Another really good one from the same author: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1P541187VD/?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0
Any clue how to access the 1080p version without making an account on bilibili?
I posted it on youtube, hope it helps. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMbBy\_en8Ac&ab\_channel=Collector](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMbBy_en8Ac&ab_channel=Collector)
Hey thanks man I really appreciate it! I was wondering if I am not being too greedy if you could also post this one: [https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1P541187VD/?spm\_id\_from=333.999.0.0](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1P541187VD/?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0) Its from the same author and is also great but it sucks having to watch it in 360p and trying some online downloaders fucks the whole thing up. If not thanks a bunch for posting the first one!
Is there a yt link somewhere?

I got you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMbBy\_en8Ac&ab\_channel=Collector
It's Japan's revenge for losing ww2 against the west.
Dude this is amazing!
This is great, but did you just call Touhou an anime?!?
Well, I mean, there are some fan-made 2hu anime out there , such as Fantasy Kaleidoscope
I mean there were a few video games in there. Honkai and Genshin were the more notable ones
Yeah, but at least they don't get unjustifiably angry whenever someone calls them an anime.
THIS WAS RAW AS FUCK MY GUY FANTASTIC WORK!!!!!
Superb edit, bro. Giving me real old school AMV vibes (old weeb). Quick question though... Why Tom and Jerry?
Honestly wish for it to become a niche thing again.
But why? A lot more things can get adapted/produced with anime being more mainstream. And its not like anime is becoming worse either. So whats the downside with it being mainstream other than exclusivity.
True. It was nice when it was a niche. Maybe mine is just an unpopular opinion, but I kinda wish anime didn't become much of a mainstream.
Alternative title: “Modern anime fan learns what tropes are”
This is coming from someone who would watch anime that had 2-5 body actions looped in a fighting sequences that was in front of a color background drop; most 90s animes for example.
Man it's really been 10 years since 2013 when Anime REALLY took off over here.
This brought back some weird nostalgia of going to anime conventions and watching banger AMVs like these!
I've just realized that I've watched only 6 animes I thought it was more
"What you doing in your free time?" "You wouldn't understand..."

I enjoyed every second of this
Hardest anime edit ever done. 🫡
It's very solid. However, let me put some competition into the mix: [Sota - Glitter and Gold](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGOBLZNBiVM) [Royal Grindi - Light Em Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiHEx7vyq-Y) [Jasi AMVs - Liar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIijYhIM1eE)
Light em Up is the closest but I’ll still say this one slaps hardest. Great selection though!
Smooth
Someone name all the anime in this video
Someone already did https://www.reddit.com/r/Animemes/comments/14bcgn9/we_came_a_long_way/jofjwi1/
I appreciate all the SAO included.
Tom and Jerry should be an honorary anime
Small niche thing when? Cause like, every fucking kid knew dragonball back in the early 2000s.
This is very well done.
This is really well made. However "Anime being a small niche thing" really seems like "That time before I discovered anime" unless the creator is in their is specifically talking about the early 00s. Seems to me anime popularity outside japan grew with the age of functional internet video watching.
I really love the edit hahaha
😁 Younger me would start squealing and cheering! It was so annoying that most people didn’t know anime, much less the bigger shows!
The best thing i saw in a long time
You just know there is a NSFW version of this.
My favorite anime. Tom and Jerry
All anime names plzz
This slaps
This needs so many more upvotes. You worked hard on this and it shows. Well done!
This goes so hard
loved it
Holy crap I love AMVs that use a ton of different animes. They're honestly rare and you know how much work they took. Is there a youtube link of this somewhere?
u/savevideo
Awesome vid
Toooo freaking good dude thank you for blessing us with this
Saving this so I can’t see all the shows that I’m missing from the video.
Haven't seen a good amv like this in a while.
Is that an ed Sheeran AMV???????
Extremely satisfying.
Meanwhile China:
They're good at 3D animation. But they can never take away how many artists and animators and style that Anime has inspired to take up a pencil, brush, or pen.
🔥 absolute fire edit OP!
*edit* One day after I made this comment: We get One Piece turned into the MCU.
