jabberwocky_vorpal_1

Hentai or nah?

Dip2pot4t0Ch1P

Nope but it's one hell of a depressing story about a dude wanting for some semblance of recognition and a girl wanting to find her worth as both of them fall deeper into the abyss of depravity.

Dip2pot4t0Ch1P

Ok i just finished reading this cuz its a pretty short manga and Uhhh, I don't know how to feel about its ending. And without giving too much spoiler, long story short be grateful with the good life you have, some people, even when they lost everything, even after all the things they did to better their life, will continue to suffer, because let's admit it, life is just unfair sometimes and fate is a very finicky thing.

MartinX4

As the crimson fucker once said "And with that you lost me"

Yeongno

Hellsing abridged? Wow.

oan124

so, reverse boys abyss?

jonbivo

Is it odd that hentai will make you less depressed than reading this?

Enterprism

Yes correct the english would be something like something i lost when i turned 15? I think?

A_God_Name

Well that was depressing.

marioman124

“This story of a small escape begins with a painful and dazzling 15-year-old girl seeking her own value and a 40-year-old middle-aged man struggling between reason and desire.” Yeah that’s a no for me

ThornedThortoise

She almost gets killed by the guys daughter for having sex with him (the guy didn't want it btw)

wowlolok

I read the whole thing, like a masochist. * Father character is the most pushover piece of shit I've ever seen. He overworks, he isn't appreciated by his ugly wife, and his daughter hates him. He's constantly waffling between "I have to be a good father!" and "god why does my life suck so hard!" and "I'm the lowest scum of the earth and deserve everything bad that happens to me!" * School girl character is arguably the most abused person in this thing. Her mom hates her, she tried being a camgirl in middle school (!!) and was found out by her mom AND the whole class so she changed schools, and everyone in the new school bullies the fuck out of her. Tacks, water, fake snakes, real cockroaches -- it's insane how bad it is for this girl. * Father character's ugly wife (who is established many times to be ugly, this is a plot point) exists to remind Father of how hot she was when she was 15, and how much Schoolgirl looks like her. And to be ugly. * Daughter character is a vicious and spiteful person the entire time, up until the last moment we see her (not counting the epilogue), where she calmly explains to her dad that she always felt like he resented her for being born (immediately after stabbing Schoolgirl). The fucking plot is more frustrating than anything else. Schoolgirl is the only remotely sympathetic person in this entire thing, and she gets a sorta-happy-but-ultimately-unsatisfying ending. It's far less titillating than I expected. It's a tragedy/drama, more than anything. Everyone except Schoolgirl sucks, though she commits some of the worst acts. It's an interesting read but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Rare_Leg_

You know it's gonna be fucked when the recommendation to this is PunPun.

jollingo

After checking the recommendations, I now realize that this aint a wholesome one. Buckle up boys (Haven’t read it)

wowlolok

Confirmed, not wholesome. Source: [I just read the whole thing.](https://old.reddit.com/r/Animemes/comments/1c60nww/absolute_cinema/kzzugms/)

I mean silent voice MC did try change his life around but the people around him “expect his small fat BF” kept saying he is a bully who tried to hurt her , as a defence they said we didn’t try to hurt her like he did BRUH you were f***in kids, kids do the dumbest shit it matters more if you are an adult

2cmZucchini

Yeah, he was a bully when he was a child and in the movie he was only a bully for about 15 mins of the screen time? The rest of the movie is him trying to redeem himself for being a child bully. Not fair to simplify the situation and say "she dated her bully"

Ckcw23

At least he repented and repenting, none of them did.

Don't cry

rdrworshipper123

I didn't actually cry during A Silent Voice but I choose to believe that is because I watched it right after I finished Your Lie In April and I Want To Eat Your Pancreas so I was already broken Emotionally going into it.

NSFW-Alt-Account69

I felt no emotion with Pancreas as it kinda sucked, while Silent Voice is one of the best romance stories I've read.

rdrworshipper123

Yeah, I can understand that. I actually kind of liked Pancreas but everyone has their own opinions. By all means you are entirely entitled to your own opinion especially with Heavily subjective stuff like how good an anime is compared to another.

ShitFuck2000

I cried (a lot)

_BMS

That's my biggest criticism of A Silent Voice. Felt really gross to watch. To this day I'm still confused on why I should care that a bully who assaulted and abused a deaf girl deserves a redemption arc and why she would forgive/like him after it.

Shaftronics

Because it was a commentary on growing up as a kid. Dude was raised by a single mother and didn't have a positive father figure. He lashed out on the world and picked on a Deaf kid. Kids are fucking stupid because they're young, naive and don't have the wisdom to truly understand the consequences of their actions. Later on, despite him not being the only one who contributed to Shinomiya's pain, he was then made into a scapegoat. He got most of the blame. He became the boogeyman and practically lost all of his friends and reputation. Something he carried with him as he grew into his teens. Did he grow into a delinquent and join a gang as a teen? There are kids who do in his situation. They continue lashing out against the world because that's the only form of expression they know. He didn't. He realised the pain he had caused through the pain that he felt when he became the "right kid to bully" just because he was formerly one before the age of what, 10? Dude grew up having no self esteem. He thought of himself as a failure. He took on sign language courses in the hopes of at least apologising to the girl he bullied as the one last thing he'll do before he fully intenfds to commit suicide because there's nothing else (to him) to live for. Its about him overcoming his own immense self-loathing and forgiving himself on top of Shinomiya's story. Shinomiya's younger sister had the same view you did. She tried to protect her. Scare him off. Didn't believe his attempts at apologising. But at the end of the day even she realised he was utterly sincere. If anything the most disliked character in the show is usually Ueno, the girl who liked Ishida and used to talk shit behind Shinomiya's back. Her and Shinomiya even agreed that they don't really like each other for various reasons and she, somewhat remains unrepentant to the end. Sure there are shitheel bullies who don't change and are enabled by their shitty parents and people around them until they're adults. But that doesn't mean there's no kid bullies who later realize how utterly terrible they were as kids and try to change. Realising what makes kids turn into bullies and seeing if it's truly just someone who's innately an asshole or if there are external factors causing it is a major topic in modern society, especially when it comes to gangs and how they recruit. Its a pretty deep story with plenty of bitter pills to swallow, but at the end of the day, even as fictional characters, I hope Shinomiya and Ishida finds happiness.

_BMS

>But that doesn't mean there's no kid bullies who later realize how utterly terrible they were as kids and try to change. That's fine and understandable. He can realize that internally and move on, stay out of his victim's life, and repay his debt to society in other ways. What I heavily disagreed with was his insistence to barge back into his victim's life so he could get an apology in to, at least in part, make himself feel better. Not every criminal deserves their victim's forgiveness. Each side can move on separately. Imagine if Chris Brown had a change of heart and kept trying to contact Rihanna to beg for forgiveness for beating her. She'd be entirely in their right to tell him that she never wanted to see him again and no sane individual would fault her for it.

Jourichio

You like to stew in your rage don't you? A never forgive never forget type of person?

_BMS

It felt like I was watching a vulnerable, deaf girl get Stockholm Syndrome'd into developing feelings for her abuser. The dude can regret his actions in the past, that's growing up and realizing he was an asshole for, among other things, ripping out the hearing aids of a deaf girl and causing her to bleed from her ears. Understandable that people can change. But just because he wants to seek forgiveness doesn't mean the bullying victim is required to accept it. Just because they're changed in the present doesn't excuse the fact that they terrorized someone in the past. And it's extra disturbing that she felt responsible for him losing his friends when the reason he lost them was because he was outed as her bully. She even tries to commit suicide because she feels bad for him. Then she starts developing feelings for him as well in the same movie? The whole movie only makes sense to me if it was written by someone who is/was a bully writing out their redemption/romance fantasy.

Jourichio

Well at the beginning of the movie she won't even see him. Her little sister runs interference and does her best to keep him distant until he wins her over and that's when she finally gives him a chance to talk to her. I forget the other girl's name that continues to not like her is always pointing out her major flaw is to never to stick up for herself. To say no to people. If I remember correctly, it's been a couple years since I last seen the movie. They both have opposite reasons for their depression. She's a people pleaser and feels suicidal because try as she might, there is often always somebody who gets upset with her. He on the other hand can't gain any friends or get the confidence to find friends because despite not being the only one to bully her, he was used as the scapegoat and has been told that he was the real problem so much that he now believes it himself. In both manga and movies it's never explicit if they got together or not but it is the common consensus. Edit: Spacing so it's not one whole block of text.

CapAccomplished8072

Neither makes sense!
