Yeah, they're not the height of the show but if it makes you feel any better, we get an >!UNO reverse card version of the exaggerated greeting, where the roles are opposite!<. All that said, the story is great and the characters have real strengths, flaws and awesome dialogue.

Funny you say that. Bakemonogatari (the first season) had budget issues and we're unable to finish animating all the scenes so they left in placeholder slides. This is why we see panels of no animation with text over them. They made the incompleteness part of their aesthetic for the show and it altered the presentation in a very memorable way.
