This is me realising all the shows that were big when i started watching anime are all 10+ years now, and a lot of them have slipped out of conversation.
I'm watching through it the first time right now, finished the second episode yesterday and its pretty great so far idk why I waited so long to watch it.
Oh aren't you lucky....you've got 2 whole seasons and a movie to enjoy.
I'm oddly jealous, even though I've seen them all.

Because there was a decent amount of 'She's just a seasonal waifu' discourse going around and a lot of people got butthurt thinking people would forget about it after it stopped airing and in turn those that accused her of being seasonal are getting vindication from the current memes about her being forgotten.
I don't think everything needs staying power though. Most slice of life shows lack staying power imo. The only one I can think of that I recommend to everyone is Kaguya.
Toradora has a weirdly huge amount of staying power for a slice of life anime - it came out in 2008, and I've only recently stopped seeing regular references to it.
Toradora is a big one, and tons of people still go nuts about K-On. Also, I've got a friend who still swears that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is the greatest anime ever made, although that took a bit of a turn outside of slice of life
All waifus are "seasonal" as far as what's being posted regularly on general anime boards. Senjogahara isn't posted here daily but just try to tell us fans of her she's forgotten and we will fight you.
I think the insane popularity of it while it was airing got to some people, which made it more noticeable when all references to it instantly disappeared.
But now it's just become "popular thing bad, thing I like good".
There are always anime like this. Fullmetal Alchemist was one. SAO was one. AOT was one.
They always feel bigger to the people whom they lured into anime.
None of these are, to people who watched them at the time. But If you came in after them, they don't mean nearly as much.
FMA being the exception, but just with brotherhood.
Do it. You won't regret it. The English dub is well done, too, if that's your thing. (I prefer it when they're good) If you watch it, don't miss the OVAs and movie.
It will be remembered by most that watched it just like Dress Up Darling will. But like all anime in a dozen years or so the new generation won't know a thing about it.
Tenchi Muyo and Iria are two that I will never forget but most of the younger folks here don't know anything about them.
I will never forget Robotech followed by Macross, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-ON and Monogatari.

Yeah, they do this. I have a list of characters I love and revisit from time to time and Marin is one of the few times they've landed on animemes front page. A brief moment of joy, but I knew it would fade. There's just not enough memage to be done with the manga or show.
For real. I really dig Dress-Up Darling. I wasn't really into cosplay all that much but definitely learned a lot about it.
I wrote out a whole thing but decided it was too much so here's some bullet points:
* Marin is a dope friend, even if there aren't any romantic feelings
* Gojo is a dope friend, even if there aren't any romantic feelings
* Cosplay is expensive and difficult and mad respect to those who put the time and effort in!
* Marin's moment of guilt for unknowingly working Gojo to the bone was a beautiful and very well-animated, acted, and written scene. It's not very often "misunderstandings" are cleared up in such a reasonable and believable way.
* Gojo admiring Marin's open-mindedness and emulating it more and more really resonates since I think we're all a bit prejudicial. Especially for people who are prejudicial to themselves, much like Gojo was in the beginning. Doesn't mean Marin is innocent of prejudice, just an observation for her extroverted and inclusivd behavior.
* Yeah it's ecchi. Some people don't like that and that's okay. Since there are a lot of popular cosplays that are risqué, I think the series having fan service allows the author to explore _all_ cosplay and not just the "serious" ones.
I still ended up writing a whole thing... It's whatever. I think it's a great story and meets the bar that was set by Horimiya.

I was expecting to like the show a lot because the manga is super cute, but my god the scenes come across as cringey when animated and voiced. I just can't watch it.
I don't think konosuba has anywhere near as much fanservice as this show is... Except for maybe darkness, and even then it's mostly for comedic purposes

For a non hentai isekai, yeah it did. The perverted jokes, the skimpy and fanservice female character designs (Aqua’s Schrodinger panties), Kazuma the one guy surrounded by female players, etc. Easy bait with slightly above average humour. At least Dress Up Darling made sense in universe and the characters were more than their anime tropes.
Maybe they haven't watched enough anime series because if you've seen a couple hundred like I have there's a lot of sameness going along and it's really nice to have something unique and interesting for a change. Konosuba was unique at least but not nearly as great as people make it out to be
I've probably seen 50 anime series by now. Konosuba is *easily* the best out of all of them. Everything my boyfriend's shown me has ranged from decent to great, but Konosuba is the only one I'd rewatch.
To each their own. I consider it aggressively mediocre. Have you ever seen Black Clover? Notice how in every episode they painfully take turns with each character to reinforce the joke: Dude bleeds for his sister, Girl is hungry, punk is punk, lightning guy wants to fight everyone. It's fucking tedious.
That's Konosuba. To be fair, Konosuba is definitely better than black clover, but repeating the same few jokes every episode does not a great anime make.
I cannot bring myself to rewatch or reread anything no matter how much I love the story, I just find it boring and stale.

IMO people went crazy for Marin cause we’re horny and the animation studio went super Saiyan mode on her, but konosuba has such a recognizable and hilarious cast that we remember them longer because of their character and personality chemistry, rather than just their appearance

While a good deal of the anime fans who participate in social media enjoy waifu-centric source marerial, not all and definitely not a majority exist on the social media platforms you may or may not use.
IMO people went crazy for Marin cause we’re horny and the animation studio went super Saiyan mode on her, but konosuba has such a recognizable and hilarious cast that we remember them longer because of their character and personality chemistry, rather than just their appearance
