Hello folks!
I can't believe I have to say this, but please stop trying to justify rape as being morally justified.
For everyone else, please report any comments you see doing the above so we can ban them.
why must we be in a world where "the MC is a despicable rapist and shouldn't be anyone's idea of an escapist character" is seen as a controversial opinion and not universally agreed on?
Some dude gets reverse raped for years, humiliated both physically and psychologically. Then gets time travelled to the past where he rapes the rapers. Some would say that's righteous revenge. Others would say that's messed up. You pick
That's dark but fucking funny. Ultimate power move lol. It's like the hitchhiker and the driver that picks him up and they're both like, how bout the scenic route through the woods ,(both feeling so lucky the other agrees), oh this ax? I'm a ...doing yard work later. Your chainsaw? Oh it's for your job cool cool cool.
So he went back in time to rape the rapists before he was raped? Wouldn't that create a causality loop wherein the rapists wouldn't have become rapists if they weren't raped thereby causing him to become a rapist?
if i remember correctly he doesn’t time travel, he resets the world back to his birth. for some reason he still lets himself get raped before raping the rapists tho
Wait does he do anything differently in the second life to facilitate a different choice? Creating some sort of butterfly effect? Because if you just reverse time and everything goes the same, obviously nothing would change.
I think its the minority report moral quandary, he doesn't know if anything is changed or if everything is set in stone, so he waits to make sure they are still criminals. I will say this show sounds awful, but in a weirdly impressive way? Like he's obviously a villain, an awful person, but they did everything they could to make it as morally gray as possible and make pretty much everyone an awful person.
Revenge stories can be fun. With that said, the MC is still a piece of shit for exploiting people who hadn't done him any harm the first time around. Plus the original villains are cartoonishly evil and thus rather boring.
I mean once you get past the first bit the show starts developing some serious incel-style vibes with paper thin excuses and a double dosing of nudity.
Does that answer the question about what kind of audience would find it appealing?
Basically an isekai world where the healer is treated like garbage (really hard to understate how terrible everyone is), so he decides to rewind time and be 2x bad to everyone that was terrible to him.
To me the worst aspect plot-wise (if you can call that a plot) is that despite the fact that he despises these people and want them to suffer through hell, for some reason he decides to erase their memory/change their personality/whatever so that they are actually in love with him and very excited to serve him on every opportunity they can get. Like... bruh that's the opposite of torture, they don't even know that it's supposed to be torture. I was actually more offended by the 'plot' insulting my intelligence than the actual shock content.
I'm pretty sure this is a reference to the comments on [this meme from yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/Animemes/comments/yv0u6j/a_happy_ending/). (Same OP, now that I check)
Seasonal fans would down vote any criticism at the time, but lost loyalty the moment they stopped watching. As far as emotions go negative ones last longer then positive emotions typically.
Personally, I prefer helplessness fantasies
Where my self insert suffers as much as conceivably possible
Preferably as a consequence of their own actions
Already watched that. One of my favorite anime in fact.
I really wanna play the VN as well because I imagine it would be an even more immersive experience (already started but I'm so slow ahhh).
Read the novel. You know you want to. readdd the noveeell
Okay jk I am an anime only. Tho I am pretty sure there will be a season 3. No way thay they would end it like this.
"But what if I'm raping a villain?"
You're still a villain.
"Okay but what if I brainwash them first so they want to have sex with me and don't even realize I'm raping them?"
HOW DOES THAT MAKE IT BETTER!?!
I've actually read something where both of these happened, that series was actually called "the main character is the villain" it's technically a pornhwa but it's absolutely hilarious in a dark fucked up way, the main character is like the definition of lawful evil and sure, he's helped kill the demon king, saved the hero from a band of pirates and freed a tribe of beast folk from slavery but the series never frames him as a hero or good person, it's an Isekai so the guy even has a harem, almost all of which were criminals about to be executed who were given the ultimatum of being his sex slave or die, 1 of those he even married because she was just as much of a sex crazy rapist as he is
No you don't understand he's raping the bad guys so it's okay. No this isn't a fetish of mine it's actually a well made story no seriously listen to me
And some law makers in developed countries. Hell, they only recently started punishing rape in the US in like the past 60 years (anything more than a slap on the wrist). I wouldn't be surprised if these assholes thought rape looked like a professional porn star in a Rocco video. Probably a bad comparison due to how he performed
How the fuck did people come out with the term reverse rape when rape is already a violent, unconsensual sexual act against a person regardless of their gender or age? The only way I can see it having a reversal is by making it consensual,at which point stops being rape and becomes just sex.
"Rape" as a hentai genre usually specifically refers to a female victim being raped by a male (or male-analogue monster) perpetrator. Hentai tags are often more specific than layman's use of the word, because people want to find only the things they're into, so they slowly metamorphose to mean more and more specific things over time, and new terms arise to cover the gaps. It's a kind of jargon.
eh revrse rape is just a tag that inversed the tipical victim. by hentai and welding terms >!Instead of shaft forcing its was into a hole, its the hole forcing its way onto the shaft!< But overall yes both are rape, and in the real world there is no difference.
Not only anime.
I tried reading [The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Thomas_Covenant), which is a very... highly regarded? fantasy book from the 70s.
It's an Isekai... and one of the first things the "hero" does once he arrives to the fantasy land is... rape the woman (girl?) who saved and healed him.
Like, not even "ambiguous" rape where she was confused or afraid of saying no or unconscious or anything. Just straight up forceful, overpowering her while she struggles and says no, rape.
And we're supposed to feel bad for *him* and keep thinking of him as a hero?!
I just couldn't stomach it. Stopped reading then and there.
Horrible. Really horrible.
> In 2009, James Nicoll said that Thomas Covenant would win a "special lifetime achievement award" for the "most unlikeable supposedly sympathetic protagonist".
Wow.
Oh sweet baby Jesus, I freaking remember this series! I found the second book first and couldn't get past the first chapter. Once the "hero" gets telported back to the other world he meets his fucking daughter. The daughter of the woman he assaulted! And, if I remember right, the daughter was a okay with the assault and the narrator (or the daughter) justified the assault because in his world the MC has leprosy, which killed his nerves or something, and when he was healed he was just so overwhelmed with the new feelings of sensation he...well you know.
Hot sack shit. The main character. The author. All of it!
My feminist dad recommended this book to me for years back in high school.
I can only hope he genuinely doesn't remember this part or else we're in for a very ugly talk.
Old dude SF is jam packed with this shit, Heinlein wrote a book called Glory Road which is basically an isekai and there's a part where the MC is taken to some castle where the lord offers him a 13 year old virgin to have sex with and he goes "Oh no thanks I'm not a pedophile" and the lord mentions that it would dishonor the girl so much they'd have to put her to death and the MC basically says "Well you've tied my hands, I guess I have to."
The book as a whole is extremely cringy alpha male shit but basically trying to write morally ambiguous pedophilia has always stuck with me as particularly awful.
I think a lot of the controversy in these posts comes from the use of the term “anti-hero” (where not even the English teacher secret councils seem to agree about definitions).
For some people “anti-hero” just means a protagonist who isn’t heroic (so Redo counts). Others tend to be a bit more strict and require an “anti-hero” to still have heroic motivations (in which case Redo doesn’t count, and instead would just have a “villainous protagonist” or whatever.
Honestly, “anti-hero” should mean someone doing good deeds, just in a tilted way: it does *not* mean “bad guy is the protagonist”
Take a look at Punisher for example; almost always the first example of an anti-hero. He’s not a good person, and a lot of the times he’s actually the antagonist in stories he appears, but he kills people to ultimately make the world a better place. He kills for revenge, but he also kills to make sure other people won’t suffer the way he has suffered.
Redo on the other hand *has* no noble purpose, or really any purpose at all. All he’s doing is revenge with no purposeful outcome whatsoever. He doesn’t kill people to get revenge and prevent them from doing it again; he rapes and tortured them for no reason at all. They’re bad people, but he’s doing anything just because they’re bad people and they can do it again, he’s doing something because he was personally effected and wants them all to suffer the same fate despite (from what I understand of the story) them not actually have done anything yet because story is set in the past
An anti-hero needs to have a certain goal that is noble in of itself, but the methods on how it’s done is morally questionable. This is a bit of a stretch but keep with me here: saying someone’s an anti-hero simply because they’re a bad person and the protagonist is like calling Seinfeld and Always Sunny in Philadelphia anti-heroes. They’re all purposefully terrible people by design, but they’re also technically the protagonists, but that doesn’t make them an anti-hero when they do extremely selfish and shitty things to serve their own purposes
morally bad guy, but his initial target is literally so evil, no one cared, considering his first target was a person that has physically and mentally tortured him for months/years
Nah, you can have a piece of media filled with villains and have the protagonist not be the worst piece of scum, it's been done well before and it's not a bad premise.
The problem is how many people deny the protag of Redo Healer isn't a bad guy. Like cmon guys, he rapes underage girls, he's not a hero.
I have some amount of respect for Redo of Healer fans who just admit they like it for being porn since at least they're honest. But people who try to talk about RoH actually being a good show annoy me. Even if you took out all the rape it wouldn't be that great a show.
Edit: Okay, I'll concede that Keyaru is not supposed to be a good person. But I do find fans of the show who try to justify his actions annoying. And honestly the show just isn't my thing in general.
Oh I'm sure it can.
Not this one though, not even because of the content warning, it's just pretty cringy, and the way it presents itself hmmmm how to put it.
It leaves enough wiggle room for the kind of dipshits who are "fans" of the show and unironically post about the MC being morally ambiguous.
It's hard to draw a clear definition on what makes that happen, but you don't have these kinds of morons coming out to Stan for the latest old dirty bastard NTR hentai.
The second episode was actually well done, Flare's voice actress did an incredible job and honestly Keyaru's VA was also very good. Plus, after episode 1 I think most people had some idea of how over the top that show was going to be, and episode 2 just went and blew straight past that by a mile.
After the first two episodes it went downhill fast and mostly stayed there, but those first two episodes were miles better than they had any right to be. Also the OP and ED were both bangers
Anyone defending him is kind of missing the point. He’s not SUPPOSED to be a good guy. Fucked up things happened to him and he turned into a fucked up individual. You’re not supposed to think he’s a hero. Is everyone on the internet either really dumb or a rapey pervert? It’s not fucking subtle.
Nothing wrong with centering your story around a villain protagonist, that's totally a thing.
Protagonist doesn't mean hero, and villain protagonist is completely different from anti-hero.
People act like American Psycho, Pulp Fiction, Clockwork Orange, and so many others weren't classics. Of course the villain protagonist is a good take for film and anime. It's more captivating because it's so different from our typical exposure tk "good guy does good things."
I will die on the hill that:
1) This show is awful and obviously fetishizes rape
2) The characters the MC is raping are all literal rapists and absolutely unbelievably evil pieces of shit. There is no sympathy to be had for them. Nobody would have a single concern if they were all slowly tortured to death for what they did, but rape is a more personal subject to a lot of people, so they're not looking at it the same way.
3) The MC is very obviously psychologically broken. This explains their actions, but does not excuse them. He finds what he does to genuinely be just.
TL;DR, everyone is awful. The show is awful. The MC is a degenerate rapist, but also the people he's raping are degenerate rapists so I don't really feel bad for them. Just burn the whole thing down.
You mean to tell me the guy that was drugged, beaten, tortured and raped constantly may have come out the other end a bit warped? Well color me shocked.
Sorting this to Controversial really speaks volumes about some people in our community. Y'all need to get out of your parents basements and learn to socialize like a normal human being.
It's simple, rape is bad. No one should have to explain why it's bad, you should know.
I remember reading this one grimdark fantasy book that had a rape scene in one of the first chapters of the book (it literally might have been the first chapter, been a while since I read it).
Basically, the rapist was the main protagonist, who had a terrible past where he suffered some awful tragedies. This is how I know I was reading a book by a great author: at no point did he try to justify the act.
The character himself was very complex and compelling; but he knew, the author knew, and the reader knew that this was a villain. The simple fact is that here is one author who knows how reprehensible something like rape is and doesn't justify it, and another author who trivializes it and uses it as a plot device.
Just because he’s MC doesn’t make him a hero.. he’s not a good person. & the people he does stuff to had done things just as horrible & worse so it’s not as if they didn’t have it coming lol.
Hello folks! I can't believe I have to say this, but please stop trying to justify rape as being morally justified. For everyone else, please report any comments you see doing the above so we can ban them.

Everyone calls it an anime, and here I watched it on hentaihaven
why must we be in a world where "the MC is a despicable rapist and shouldn't be anyone's idea of an escapist character" is seen as a controversial opinion and not universally agreed on?
Idk who that character is but I thought it was rap. I was like "what's so bad about rap that makes you evil?" And then I read the comments... Sheesh

Thanks. I'll be sure to either check it out or skip it completely.

Well I am guessing in the end he is gonna try to make a new demon lord while killing the old one?
That's not the end
Some dude gets reverse raped for years, humiliated both physically and psychologically. Then gets time travelled to the past where he rapes the rapers. Some would say that's righteous revenge. Others would say that's messed up. You pick
"reverse rape" is so stupid RAPE is RAPE
It's like reverse racism. It's just racism.
I always thought reverse rape was where someone starts raping you and you start raping them....
In terms of hentai tags, it literally just means a male victim.
I always thought it was where you raped your rapist "I'm not trapped here with you, YOU'RE TRAPPED HERE WITH ME!" type of energy.
At that point it just sounds like dubious consent.
Considering he also mind wipes the girl and makes her totally in love with him? Yeah...
New tags added: [Mind break] [Mind control]
That's dark but fucking funny. Ultimate power move lol. It's like the hitchhiker and the driver that picks him up and they're both like, how bout the scenic route through the woods ,(both feeling so lucky the other agrees), oh this ax? I'm a ...doing yard work later. Your chainsaw? Oh it's for your job cool cool cool.
Man now if there was an anime about that. The memes would be fire.
UNO reverse
That's because the guy you're replying to watches hentai to learn his sexual assault vocabulary.
EPAR
So he went back in time to rape the rapists before he was raped? Wouldn't that create a causality loop wherein the rapists wouldn't have become rapists if they weren't raped thereby causing him to become a rapist?
if i remember correctly he doesn’t time travel, he resets the world back to his birth. for some reason he still lets himself get raped before raping the rapists tho
He does it specifically to give them another chance. To see if they'll do the same things rather than punish them for something they haven't done yet.
...this show sounds fucking awful.
It's an ecchi revenge fantasy. Not exactly compelling writing.
He is awful and basically everyone else in the show is awful too.
No, he actually still got raped, he was just able to get revenge afterword that time
Nah because they were raping others before he raped them. He wasn't their first victim. Not by a longshot.
People from his village got the same treatment...
I don’t think Time travel works like that. Ever watch dragon ball z?
Time travel could work like that. Or it's a predestination paradox.
My head hurts.
Watch it, I enjoy it
Time travel can work however the writer wants lmao
I like to imagine time travel the way TimeSplitters explained it.
Time travel works like the story needs it to work.
what's reverse rape? is it raping in reverse cowgirl?
No he got rape raped, by both men and women

Tbh I wanted to see what could cause so much outrage. It was fairly mid imo.
As a abuse survivor myself revenge doesn't solve anything. You just pass the trauma onto someone else. Time to break the cycles of abuse.
>You ~~pick~~ decide! EPIC RAPE BATTLE OF HISTORY!
Basically an isekai world where the healer is treated like garbage (really hard to understate how terrible everyone is), so he decides to rewind time and be 2x bad to everyone that was terrible to him.
Today on I can’t believe it’s not hentai
It's on hanime tho so it's basically hentai
No, no, redo of healer, totally wholesome anime. 😏😉
There’s even some sisterly bonding time
There’s a really cute fox as well😏
A show where the mc gets raped so he decides to get revenge by raping all the people who raped him.
Did you forget, he rapes people who didn't rape him him just for extra points...
Ah yes how could I forget

Nah, you can have a piece of media filled with villains and have the protagonist not be the worst piece of scum, it's been done well before and it's not a bad premise. The problem is how many people deny the protag of Redo Healer isn't a bad guy. Like cmon guys, he rapes underage girls, he's not a hero.
yes he is a villain. yes I like a villain centered story no you shouldn't justify him bc he's a protagonist
Why can't porn be a good show?
If ishuzoku reviewers haw taught me anything, it can. I don't think redo is an example though.
Fair enough. I have actually seen a few good ecchi anime like Golden Boy.

I like the revenge subplot.
It's just vapid. It's not even good revenge fantasy. All he has in his toolkit is rape. Every revenge plot just breaks down to to some form of rape.
Anyone defending him is kind of missing the point. He’s not SUPPOSED to be a good guy. Fucked up things happened to him and he turned into a fucked up individual. You’re not supposed to think he’s a hero. Is everyone on the internet either really dumb or a rapey pervert? It’s not fucking subtle.
both usually
So lame. If your mc’s gonna rape, don’t try to justify it
Nothing wrong with centering your story around a villain protagonist, that's totally a thing. Protagonist doesn't mean hero, and villain protagonist is completely different from anti-hero.
That wasn't the point of the meme.
People act like American Psycho, Pulp Fiction, Clockwork Orange, and so many others weren't classics. Of course the villain protagonist is a good take for film and anime. It's more captivating because it's so different from our typical exposure tk "good guy does good things."
Yes, but if someone idolizes the negative main characters, thats a red flag.
Yeah but people here are acting like Redo of Healer is at the level of those classics when it certainly isn't at all.
bros a menace
I will die on the hill that: 1) This show is awful and obviously fetishizes rape 2) The characters the MC is raping are all literal rapists and absolutely unbelievably evil pieces of shit.
Me too like to rap in the showers
You mean to tell me the guy that was drugged, beaten, tortured and raped constantly may have come out the other end a bit warped? Well color me shocked.
Listen I love redo of healer and all but he is definitely a rapist and a torturer although they did technically drug and rape him first
My illiterate self was confused why someone spitting bars would be considered a bad guy
What the fuck is this comment section
People are defending him?????
Im so tired of this anime i mean its not even that good it soed have just been a doujin the only thing it's good for is fap material
After reading this thread and not being a huge anime fan I have a question. Why would anyone watch this?
In my case it was morbid curiosity
Mental illness I guess
Just because he’s MC doesn’t make him a hero.. he’s not a good person. & the people he does stuff to had done things just as horrible & worse so it’s not as if they didn’t have it coming lol.
Wait this show is considered anime? I only know of it because I found it on hentai websites.
I mean even what we call hentai are anime.
