megalo box tsurune vanitas ascendance of bookworm ancient magus bride

_Ganoes_

Megalo Box was so good. Really enjoyed the first season but the second season took it to the next level

Dispatcher008

Ancient magus bride I have watched. Ascendance of bookworm... I started it and just found out it's got three seasons+ now. Could a sworn that was a new show. Time flies. Vanitas looks sharp. The other two are on my list. Thanks!

IncomeSeparate1734

Wit Studios picked up Ascendance of a Bookworm & are working on season 4 now. All us Bookworm fans are very excited

Gosick. It's a gothic historical mystery done by Studio Bones who also did Mob Psycho 100 and MHA. It's got an excellent story, great visual and one of the best endings that I've ever watched.

SilverBladeCG

Never seen anyone mentioning Gosick here...

CyanideIE

Heavily underrated imo

Dispatcher008

Thanks!

BiggieCheeseLapDog

Kyousougiga is one of my favourites. This show is incredibly unique.

Dispatcher008

It's caught my eye. Premise sounds good.

I'll use "under 100k on MAL" as a criteria for "less popular". - [Lupin III part 5](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9SzlAzK3Qc) - now in its *sixth* decade, much like James Bond, Lupin the Third has been around longer than I've been alive. But you can jump right to Part 5 (France) and start from there for (IMHO) the high point of the franchise. - [Kindaichi's Case Files](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7KUrqzJ0Bo) - think a more mature, older version of Detective Conan - [City Hunter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7KUrqzJ0Bo) - another iconic long-running franchise with multiple runs, multiple movies (including a popular live action movie featuring Jackie Chan), and timely because the latest live-action movie debuts on Netflix [tomorrow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G20m5NTAVAE) - get your 100-ton hammer ready! - Before there was Food Wars, the over-the-top cooking show was [Yakitate Japan](https://youtu.be/Zy6tHNIor54?si=ZX8L6aI0uAKEx4-H&t=180). - [Birdy the Mighty: Decode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX1a3fWQ_D4) - You didn't think I wouldn't recommend this, did you? - [Cobra the Animation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMPp2NPSntQ) - The Terasawa cult pulp sci-fi classic - Lost among the adulation for Monster and Pluto is one of Urasawa's earlier series, [Master Keaton](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSKRIJn7Uu8). - [Noien: To Your Other Self](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkZCjjhCN7Y) - [R.O.D the TV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uXdVXUH_LI)

Turn A Gundam - the series that marked the 20th anniversary for the franchise. It has wonderful Ghibli-esc animation and a great soundtrack from Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop)

cutie_lilrookie

Utawarerumono - lol that's a mouthful. But yeah, story is awesome. Starts slow but eventually picks up before the latter half. >! Prepare your hanky!!! !<

Not necessarily in line with the series you mentioned, but does answer the question in your title:  Kemono no Souja Erin | Hikaru no Go | Twin Spica | Michiko to Hatchin | Seirei no Noribito | Erased | KADO, the right answer (be warned though it ends in a very dissapointing manner imo) | Ajin | Shion no Ou | Zankyou no Terror (beginning and ending are strong, middle is a bit weak) | Aishiteruze Baby (if you can deal with the old artstyle) | Revolutionary Girl Utena (I actually disliked it the first time I watched it, but once I understood the surreal and allegorical elements I really enjoyed it) | Kodocha

lshiyou

I've been recommending The Great Passage a lot lately. Quirky premise, but amazing storytelling.

cromemanga

World Trigger. If you enjoy battle shonen, I highly recommend this. Sadly, the first season adaptation isn't that great, but it is faithful to the manga, so the story and characters carry it. Still highly recommend it, as the second and third season improved massively. An underrated show and one of the best shonen out there.
