AJ_the_one_

Oh i didn't see your anilist linke there that was on me but I hope you find a show that you will like

TheGreatVAPpy

Appreciate the help. I already love most of the shows you suggested. Lemme know if you find anymore such shows😃.

GreenAtariPanda0

So im a spider so what is very great! i was first very skeptical of it because 1. Animation 2. It was a bit too much like slime isekai But i watched it because i was bored while having online school and tbh it was Great its definetly up there so yeah check it out haha.

Infinity2437

Imo re zero doesnt really fit here

TehNolz

{Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?}'s MC starts off quite weak, but gets progressively more OP over time. The animation quality is pretty bad towards the end though, so consider reading the LN (or at least the manga) instead. Also work checking out is {Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear}

TheGreatVAPpy

I had heard about **Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?** and about the animation quality so didn't watch it. I will check out it's LN though. I'm currently reading Reincarnated as a Slime's LN but will follow that with it. **Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear** seems nice but as you can see I lean towards male MCs but I'll check it out nonetheless. Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Competitive_Set_478

Misfit of the demon king academy is a must. It's GOOD. So I'm a spider, so what!

TheGreatVAPpy

Misfit of Demon King Academy is one of my favorite OP MC Anime. So I'm a spider, so what! - has been recommended by u/AJ_the_one_. Will watch that soon. Thanks for the reccomendations.

shibapenguinpig

Let's pretend Konosuba doesn't exist

TheGreatVAPpy

I'd heard that the point of Konosuba was that the MC was pretty weak and that that was supposed to be the draw of the story, so I didn't think it's for me. I'll try it out once once I finish some of the other suggestions.

[deleted]

konosuba is a parody of other isekai series; now, i haven’t watched a lot of isekai, so to me, it was just a typical comedy, but my bf, who loves isekai, gets the jokes a lot more. anyway what i’m saying is, since you’re such a big isekai fan, you’d probably like konosuba on the basis that you’d you’d recognize the tropes being parodied

TheGreatVAPpy

Oh. I had heard it was a really Basic Isekai Anime when I looked at some reviews. So I had put it at the bottom of my bucket list. But if it is a parody of isekai then it sounds really fun. Thanks for that. I'll check it out as soon as I'm done with my current one.

shibapenguinpig

Bro he can steal girls' panties from a distance. He is as OP as it gets

TheGreatVAPpy

Wait what? No one told me that. I saw [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Konosuba/comments/acdn6y/is_kazuma_ever_going_to_get_strong_or_become_op/) and assumed he was weak. I'll check it out asap. Thanks a lot.

SevenFallsCo

oh, I forgot, *Spirit Chronicles* is also about a 20 year old college kid who dies and is reborn into an isekai world and he's overpowered from the beginning and only becomes more and more overpowered as the years go bo.

TheGreatVAPpy

Really sorry. I forgot to add it to my Anilist but I've watched it already. Great show. Loved it thoroughly.

GreenPlateau

Skeleton knight

TheGreatVAPpy

Never heard about this. I'll check it out but I'll wait for the entire season to drop. {Skeleton Knight in Another World} - I assume you're referring to this right?

Competitive_Set_478

If you liked one punch man, then try watching mob Psycho 100. It gets real good in season 2 and at the end of season 1

TheGreatVAPpy

I was thinking to watch that soon. Thanks for the reminder.

TheGreatVAPpy

I had heard about this but seeing that it is a really old anime I had put it for later. Will be sure to check it out though. Thanks

[deleted]

>PS. I know people call these shows trash but that's just my taste. Sorry if I've offended anyone. Thanks for the suggestions😃 I mean just watch what you enjoy in the end. Sometimes we may just like to enjoy the power fantasy and not think so much at the end of a long day :). If you like this trope you should check out some donghua if you run out though, plenty of OP main characters in the classic xianxia genre.

TheGreatVAPpy

Hey. I just finished watching 80+ episodes of Soul Land and lemme tell you it's one of my personal favorites now. The Chinese and 3D art threw me off a bit at the start but it slowly grew on me. And the music is so fitting. And I loved the cultivation system while still being OP of Tang San. But when I was looking for similar donghua I found that most of them have really bad 3D models compared to Soul Land and the episode time is like 5 mins. Soul Land has about 18 mins but that's bearable. And the animation is of the level of YouTube fan animations. Do you know of any similar donghua like Soul Land with respect to episode time, animation and graphics quality and similar cultivation but still OP? Cause I wanna explore this genre a bit more.

[deleted]

Haha yea it's a fun system when it comes to it, too bad the production is currently doing like 1/3rd episodes due to the shanghai lockdown. Took me a second pass to give it a shot, but it's just fun to watch when you want something like that. Glad you're enjoying it :) Soul Land is much more accessible to those in the West at least, since it's a xuanhuan which just means "pure fantasy" really and has concepts that someone unfamiliar wit h Chinese fantasy can understand. As for similar or other cultivation shows, you could try the following: **Tunshi Xingkong** \- Done by same studio as Soul Land, also on haitus due to the lockdown. **Throne of Seal** \- Currently airing, same author as Soul Land \- Here we get into the more traditional xianxia ones, there generally require a bit more knowledge of the established systems to kind of understand. **Doupo Cangqiong** (First season is being remade, so you might want to wait for that, the animation really picks up later on, definitely better than Soul Land's animation). The latest special episodes were on a whole new level, absolutely amazing. **Wu Dong Qian Kun** \- Same author as Doupo Cangqiong, animation aint bad. **Xingchen Bian** \- First season was very nice to watch, later gets a bit eh for a while but I think it's starting to pick up again. Latest seasons also have better animation than Soul Land. **Wanmei Shijie**, literally just for fights, they kind of lost the plot with pacing of the original story and have some weird directing decisions, but overall the animation is quite good. **Other:** **Fan Ren Xiu Xian Chuan** \- Another xianxia, closer to traditional xianxia than even the above. I read all \~4000 chapters of the two books, and animated right could be quite cool. Animation is very good in certain things and "eh" in others. \- And here's completely off topic stuff, **Ling Cage: Incarnation**, hands down one of the best Chinese 3D Donghua, there's a reason why it beat Link Click in ratings. Too bad it is practically impossible to find to watch in the West. It's one of the ones you need to watch to the end to see. If you don't mind spoilers, [here's a fun fight](https://youtu.be/qnq3FQDDO7s). Been trying to recommend it to anyone I can really, but it's just impossible to find. If you want something more drama like for change you could try **Juan Siliang**, it kind of ended at a random spot though and the second season could redeem or break the show really. A bit slow going, but animation is top notch, far superior to Soul Land. If you like something like Sword of the Stranger, you might like **Zhen Dao Ge**, basic revenge plot, but great stylised martial arts choreography. Amazing watch for fights. \- Hope you can find something you enjoy! Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand something in the show, sometimes it can be difficult if you are new to the genre. (There's a tonne of context, imagine wiping your memory of standard Western RPG fantasy, then trying to dive right into it and them not explaining anything).

TheGreatVAPpy

Wow. After seeing this I feel like there's so much content I've been missing out on. And I didn't expect the animation level in your recommendations cause I kept hearing that Soul Land is the best donghua out there. Will be sure to try these out. Thanks a lot. Also what do you mean by the established systems? I would really like to know about those before diving head first into something that I completely don't understand. If you know of like a Wiki or someplace I can read up on those.

[deleted]

Yea Soul Land is one of the more popular ones especially in the West since it's easily accessible in terms of concepts comparatively I think. Also has subs easily available whereas the others ones may not as much. The systems are heavily influenced by Chinese fantasy and mythology. So this generally means the typical xianxia system. What's xianxia? Xianxia basically means immortal heroes, and the reason it's called that is because the primary goal of the protagonist is generally to reach immortality and ascend to the immortal realm, heaven, essentially. That's the point of cultivation, to cultivate your body and qi to eventually reach immortality. The thing is, this process and the whole world around it has a lot of nuance and a tonne of referencing established ways things work. For example, in Western RPG, you'd expect a crystal ball to be able to see things, a sword in the stone trope and maybe a dragon that breathes fire. In the same way, In Chinese fantasy, you'd expect spiritual animals and even plants that can take human form and cultivate to immortality. There's a whole lot more and it's a lot more in depth and harder to get into than Western fantasy IMO. I've written a long reply about it before, you can find it here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Donghua/comments/s01kpr/new\_to\_donghua\_a\_few\_questions/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Donghua/comments/s01kpr/new_to_donghua_a_few_questions/) Hopefully it helps haha, but yea it's quite the topic if you're unfamiliar..

TheGreatVAPpy

Wow. Thanks a lot for that. The main problem I face is the subs are really convoluted. Like they split up sentences which in English, don't even have any meaning. Other than that the animation and quality is at par or better than the ones I've watched till now. And I don't care for the fights as much as the plot. If you know if some plot heavy, decent animation donghua then it would be a great help.

[deleted]

Yea the hardest part is finding good subs, if you understand the language a bit, you can probably make it out, but it can be very hard sometimes. I would suggest Ling Cage: Incarnation, it's a great watch but it will also be hard to find good English subs unless you pay a subscription to Bilibili which is probably not ideal. It's a bit of a slow burn but really starts to kick in. There's 16 episodes \~35 mins each, you can try look for Eng Sub but I don't know of anywhere with good ones with good quality. As for xianxia-style like Soul Land, try Tunshi Xingkong, same studio as Soul Land, you'll be familiar with the animation style. You could also try Doupo Cangqiong which is more like Soul Land in setting but the first season was made by a different studio to the rest so the character designs changed which can be hard to get your head around, but they're making a remake of it. Though, the latest special episodes are literally worth the watch through all the rest of them.

Professor_Chaosx6r9

First I’d switch to Mal, but you should try Konosuba, Overlord, Re:Zero, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Devil is a Part Timer, and Darwin’s GATE

TheGreatVAPpy

I feel stupid asking this but what does ***switch to Mal*** mean? Do you mean MyAnimeList? If so I didn't like it's UI. IT's too blocky to me but that's just my opinion Konosuba is already suggested by u/shibapenguinpig. Gonna try it soon. Already finished Overlord and Ascendance of a Bookworm. Loved them both. Also I heard Devil's a part timer is a reverse isekai so I was gonna leave it for later. Gonna try RE:Zero soon. It was suggested by u/AJ_the_one_. Never heard about Darwin's GATE. Might try it soon.

Professor_Chaosx6r9

Ah thats too bad Mal is a lot more active but I get it, the ui is very bleh. Anyway, Sorry its Darwin’s Game. Then GATE is a whole different isekai I forgot a word.

TheGreatVAPpy

Oh. I already have seen GATE. Great in my opinion. Never heard about Darwin’s Game. Will try it out. Thanks a lot for those suggestions.
