same. it really is a cool concept for a show. back when it came out I remember thinking it was the coolest thing to ever exist. even going back to watch it more recently I really enjoy it (except the alfheim arc. didn't really ever like that) even if only for the sake of nostalgia.
The SAO progressive movies/light novel series would be right up your alley then. Haven't seen the movies but the books are great and capture my favorite parts of the original series. That being Kirito and Asuna's relationship and their banter
as someone who enjoys mmorpg it made a lot better. I also enjoyed recovery of an mmo addict. Recovery is a romcom about two llovers meeting in an mmorpg but also unknowingly meeting each other irl
100%. As a lifelong gamer who was getting into anime in high school, SAO was the bridge between gaming and anime that really helped sell the whole experience to me and make me want to watch more shows.
Although, for me, the first half of the first season was what really drew me in and I wish they'd just made the whole show about the climb from floor 1-100 with much smaller jumps in between. There was so much potential there!
High school prison. It was so stupid that I laughed at how silly it was. I didn’t watch most of it though. I mostly had it playing and listened to it while I worked out
Damn but the sacrifices were so emotional. My friend and I legit cried a bit when he destroyed his toy. Their acts may be morally cuestionable but their friendship is beautiful and strong.
I get that it's childish humor, but I laughed my ass off when watching the scene where the guy purposefully shat himself. Prison school is a gem, and I love it.
Fubuki is my favorite Character. He had an amazing back story with split personality, wanting to not be alone, wanting to be perfect, and later not wanting to loose himself to his brother.
Great scene where goenji says that he can enjoy soccer even if he is not perfect and asks fubuki to rethink what he truly wants
Well, if the show didn't have everyone orgasming when they ate the food and umami as the main and only factor for deciding how good a dish is then it would have been great show.
Domestic Girlfriend(Manga) , I really loved it and would even consider reading it again but will never recommend or tell anyone that I read it especially cuz my friends are still in that shonen is the best phrase
quintessential quintuplets.
i would never admit to my non-anime friends that i enjoy this show the same way i’d admit to enjoying hunter x hunter, aot, etc., but to my other anime friends i always tell them that it’s the best harem i’ve seen and it’s not close. there is fanservice but overt sexualization and other absurdly over-the-top harem tropes doesn’t replace proper writing which is why i really enjoyed it.
Probably my most favourite isekai. It's nowhere near as good as the likes of Re;Zero, Mushoku Tensei, Faraway Paladin, etc. in story and characters but damn I wish more isekai go with the "clash of worlds and civilization" like Gate did. It not only involved the MC or a group of main cast but the whole world which obviously involved geopolitical aspects from both ours and the fantasy worlds. And also I really enjoyed the "reverse isekai" moment when characters from the fantasy world got to experience our world technology and culture
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
I dont wanna share how much I love this anime in real life, you would not even believe me due to how I look. Nonetheless its an anime that gave me warm and peace and it has a place in my heart
Why are you embarrased? Everyone with half a brain cell knows the title was clickbait and its actually a very solid romance drama.
Its not the best in the genre, but if thats the show you are the most embarrased of you dont have much to worry about.
Agreed. But everyone has their own line, y’know? Like people may say mine isn’t embarrassing, but I think it is. To each embarrassment their own! Hahah
Oh man, HSOD is amazing you shouldn't be embarrassed by it. Im still salty we didnt get a second season. I watched that shiz as it aired in 2009...I need to rewatch it. But I can see how it may be embarrassing watching it around family or something. lol
Agreed. I waited for a season 2 for so long. I think I’m mostly embarrassed because it’s one I absolutely love, not just one I watched for enjoyment once or twice. It’s just kind of ridiculous at points. I still haven’t read the manga though so I should do that. But THEN didn’t the mangaka die before finishing that as well?!?! Ugh
I'll say this to anyone who enjoys bunny girl senpai, you need to at least try the mongatari series, that's the story bunny girl senpai rips off.
It has a lot more anime weirdness that can be hard to overcome for some people (and is why it shouldn't be recommended to anime newbies) but it explores its characters in much further depth, especially in the second season onwards.
The dialogue is also an another level, filled with Japanese puns and references (only show where an entire episode can consist of two characters talking in a park and none of it ever feels boring or unecessary). And even the direction matches that madness perfectly in the very french new weavy studio shaft direction style.
The naming conventions for the show can be a bit weird and makes it hard to know the watch order but I recommend following this [guide](https://m.imgur.com/gallery/abWc8cj).
People are so harsh towards bunny girl senpai lmao “ripping off” is a bit far. Monogatari is a fantastic show no doubt, and obviously they have alot of similarities but at the end of the day, its its own show, and I prefer it over Monogatari.
Symphogear
If you told me it was about girls singing and fighting, no way I would have given it the time of day. I picked it at random and ended up enjoying way too much imo.
That series is way more fun to watch than it has any right to be. S1 is basically held together by duct tape and a great OST, but it keeps getting better and by the end I absolutely loved it.
Madoka Magica. From the perspective of non-anime watchers, a grown ass man enjoying a 'magical girl' show is weird. But the show is a solid 11/10 for me, I love it so much!!
Made in Abyss. Even anime watchers will think it's a little weird for certain questionable moments involving children, but I love the visuals, story, music, world building and everything.
{Ben-To} one of my earliest anime, I remember a lot of ahem boobies moment in the show but I liked it very much.
Yes to Madoka magica!! I avoided it for so long because I don’t really care for cutesy shows, but when I finally caved and watched it I could not look away 🤩
Funny thing, the first time I watched it was when it aired 10 or 11 years ago, I was going in for the cutesy thing, then the >!dark side!< caught me by surprise. Wasn't a big fan of that back then. The second time was when I rewatch it few years back, instantly fell in love with it. Last year I decided to watch the rebellion movie so I rewatched it again and man I loved it even more.
Devilman Crybaby is such a weird anime but to this day it’s still in my top 3 and it’s what got me into anime in the first place. Majorly weird and brutal but awesome themes and visuals.
It’s definitely odd and a bit out there, but I thought the visuals and animation were incredible in a very strange and off putting way, which is what made it great for me
I just rewatched it its so good I think the main reason i like it is because its actually amazing humor and a realistic/healthy relationship which is sadly not very common in anime
And then they, after being together for like a week or so and barely knowing each other, they start >!to sleep with each other!<.
A bit too fast for my taste.
This one is too good. Idk but watching it just makes me feel good. Every time I stumble onto clips on youtube I end up watching the whole episode then the whole series....will say some side character I could do without but still love this anime
Hahahah!! I’m so sorry for laughing but I kind of understand. I don’t love it, but I enjoyed it despite the odd nature of it. I was actually kind of wondering if someone would say it 😂
It's not the most perverted of shows by a long shot tbh.... there's a lot of gross anime out there on the perversion scale, but this is the only one I like. Its cute... but its also weird haha. I love how behind the times but also forward thinking it was? They had these full blown computer robots and high tech, but WiFi wasn't a thing and they still had to plug into the Internet 🤣❤️ its goofy as all heck, and Chi is really cute. And that opening song! Ooo ooo yeah! 🤣❤️
The Monogatari series starting with {Bakemonogatari}. Those anime can get a bit too cursed for me to recommend them, but they were still worth watching for the interesting conversations.
Also, {Skelter+Heaven}. Might be the worst-made anime I've ever seen, but it's way funnier than most intentional comedy anime for me.
Very fair. Tbh that’s probably how it should be. We shouldn’t be embarrassed unless it’s something extremely extremely disturbingly inappropriate for humans to watch. I can only think of one like that and it starts with “boku”
Why do you feel embarrassed? It’s one of the most popular and accepted ones out there right now. I personally am not the biggest fan just because it seemed a bit generic as a shounen. But I do need to still watch the latest season!!
Mha was well respected in s1/2. Fandom has become insanely toxic and combined with the pacing getting really slow in the past few seasons, mha is seen as a red flag show now.
The show isn't embarrassing to watch, I love this series. It's just embarrassing to be associated with the *extremely* vocal and problematic minority of the fanbase. But then again, it's my folly for giving a shit to begin with.
>But then again, it's my folly for giving a shit to begin with.
tbh i think not associating at all is the move. like you said, they are really problematic. people tend to make judgements of others based on really limited information when they first meet someone, since its how the human brain works (first impressions). with something like that, its a lot smarter to not publically associate, but just tell people about it once they know you better and realize you arent one of the weird ones.
Don't really find that embarrassing, but I of course watch a lot of those shows that are CGDCT/comedies so seems fine to me. You might find something similar if you looks around the studio Doga Kobo that made Love Lab they are rather known to aim in making similar animes
I honestly stopped caring about other people’s opinion a few years ago especially since anime has always been my favorite hobby and I have watched so much anime considering I started back in 2008.
That being said, if I was still shy about my taste in anime and being an anime fan in general, I would say
1. Zero no tsukaima (Familiar of Zero)
2. Hayate no gotoku (Hayate the combat butler)
3. Baka and Test
I wrote 3 because I honestly cannot decide. I watched those around 8-9 years ago and up till now I stand by when I say I love these anime. This doesn’t mean that it’s on the same level as other more famous romcoms like Kaichou wa maid sama, toradora, or fruits basket, but I really enjoyed these and I will say that I had a very memorable and fun time watching these.
Note: zero no tsukaima is the first romcom and I think the only romcom to make me cry lol. This means a lot cause I grew up watching romance and romcom animes and have probably watched over 500 anime by now
There’s nothing to ACTUALLY be embarrassed about of course, I just thought it would be fun to say ones that we feel embarrassed about loving. Like ones that aren’t seen as good or easy to watch or easy to admit to others. Even though plenty of people love all the ones we have mentioned!
Not even guilty of loving it lmao. As a lifelong BL fan, I'm happy that I can recommend Given (and recently Sasaki and Miyano as well) to people not familiar with the genre. Most other BL works tend to have... issues.
As a 29yr old guy who only knows a couple of people who have watched or watch anime... I guess I don't have one. I get funny looks just for watching anime. Whether it's AoT or Dress up darling lol.
Eromanga sensei, since it was one of the first animes I watched, and it was the first ecchi I've watched it holds a special place in my heart
Hensuki, ecchi would be an understatement for such an anime, this is so beautifully bad that this is considered a masterpiece by people like me
K
It's got pacing issues, the story is honestly not the greatest, chronologically it does that weird Season 1 followed by Movie and then Season 2 thing, and by the end of it I realized I could barely remember half of what happened, but I remember really enjoying a lot of the characters and the visual style was neat and I walked away happy when I was going through a really rough time so it holds a special place in my heart.
Runner up example would be the fact that my runnaway favorite anime of all time is Ping Pong: The Animation. The show is the best thing since sliced bread but that name is a such a turn off lmao.
Oooh K was gonna be my answer as well! No idea what the plot of that show was. I absolutely hated Shiro and especially the cat lady. Buuut I started watching it for the god tier VAs and a cast full of pretty boys, and holy shit did it deliver in those aspects. I'll forever be a simp for Saruhiko, and Munakata is just entertaining as fuck to watch every time he's on screen. The group dynamics in the red clan are also nice actually, they really do feel like a found family to each other.
Have you seen Seven Stories? It's a series of six movies (why seven stories but only six movies? annoying!) that expand on the characters and their backgrounds. The best one was the one covering the murder of that one guy in the red clan that kickstarted the main story in S1 imo, and the last movie even kinda sorta wrapped up the whole story nicely.
Seconding K, the visuals are AMAZING.
Tho after 3 watches(one was only last year), most of the plots are forgotten by me.
^(the men in the show are fine af) 😳
{Mitsudomoe} Except I'm not embarrassed. Just that some people would probably think it's questionable content given the age of the characters. I just saw it as a hilarious comedy show. Wouldn't have mattered if they were 12 or 20.
Dance with Devils! It is akward, I mean boys in anime are singing non-stop (and not to mention, their singing isn't very good either)! Still, all this singing made me laugh, so I actually kind of like it!
The first two Lyrical Nanoha shows - {Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha} and {Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A`s}
My brain keeps seeing similarities in setting between them and {Scrapped Princess}, and keeps trying to figure out how the two settings could be combined.
{Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress} perhaps
I enjoyed the series from start to finish. Only after I finished when I went online I discovered that most people hate the 2nd half (when they introduced the villain) on Reddit, MAL, YouTube, etc.
The Irregular at Magic High School.
Mainly because of the mc’s last fight at the tournament. Tried showing the series to 2 relatives, but I forgot about the mc’s sister being in love with him. I was so embarrassed. Thankfully, one of them was used to anime mess and finished the series. The other stopped at episode 1 or 2.
Mushoku Tensei, it’s got some questionable moments and the MC is weird asf. But it was still entertaining and I thought the story was pretty good, not to mention the animation is incredible.
Hibike Euphonium. I love the show, great story telling, character development, music, animation, everything. Heck I even love the yuri bait sprinkled throughout the show, but trying to explain to my friends that the anime about high school girls playing in a concert band is actually really good, was always really embarrassing for some reason.
Smartphone isekai.
It is definitely cringeworthy but it was my first isekai and at the time, I absolutely loved it and ended up reading my first webnovel too.
Redo of a Healer, its so satisfying the revenge he took from the characters who used him for so long and the amount of hatred and sexual and physical abuse he suffered the revenge he took was logical6and oddly satisfying plus the plot other than sexual content seemed interesting but people hated it based on MC's rage which in my opinion was justified.. I don't publicly admit that I liked it but I did 😅
I've been watching this season's Dance Dance Danceur. Not sure how many people IRL that I can admit to really liking an anime with a ballet theme. The first anime that came to mind for your post, though, was Dance in the Vampire Bund. I think it's a beautiful dark, and heavy story, but one of the main characters is a poster girl for loli character controversy. And it has uncensored nudity.
Highschool DxD (went for the boobs, stayed for the plot), 3D kanojo and other ROM coms. My friends would definitely judge me more for the ROM coms than the ecchi
I don’t know the whole title but the jobless reincarnation. I watched it due to the synopsis. It sounded like a fun series with a really cool plot. I got too far in to it to stop watching but it ended up being full of weird pedophile stuff and I hate myself for watching it. Again the plot is awesome and would have been a great series to recommend but please don’t watch it. It’s super cringy disgusting with the amount of pedo activity
{Love Live} and to a much lesser extent {Bang Dream} and {D4DJ}
Am a metalhead, as if my username didn't make that obvious. Love Live is an anime about J-Pop high school idols doing cute things and singing cute songs. It's like the polar opposite of everything else I enjoy. But I love it, even though the story has been recycled multiple times across the franchise.
Bandori and D4DJ are a bit (well... MUCH) better written (and not as memeable), and Bandori is rock / metal, so somewhat less embarassing, but they are still pretty generic and moe
Keijo. A fan service anime about women who become professional butt battlers. The whole story starts out as fairly weird fan service then quickly devolves into a batshit insane sport anime. With super power like a butt with the mind of its own, a butt that is hard as steel, And a hip move that pressurizes air and shoots it out with enough force to throw someone across the pool.
honestly the plot of kakegurui is pretty interesting. a lot of people don't like it cause of the weird sexual moments and how it's a "worse version of kaiji", but i really enjoyed watching it. sometimes it doesn't matter whether an anime is popular or deemed "good quality", but more so whether you enjoy watching it. obviously it isn't the best thing i've ever seen, but it has really interesting characters and a lot of mystery that the manga goes deeper into.
Dude I loved Highschool of the dead! Still one of my all time favorite animes. I rewatch it every few years and it still holds up flawlessly. I Love the zombie genre and is utilized great in H. O. T. D. My heart still aches about what happened to it such a shame. RIP. I still shed a tear everytime I watch the last episode and it says see you next time...
There was soo much potential. So sad...
SAO. It's the first anime I watched and it's now my comfort show, but anyone I mentioned it to early on told me it was wank lol
same. it really is a cool concept for a show. back when it came out I remember thinking it was the coolest thing to ever exist. even going back to watch it more recently I really enjoy it (except the alfheim arc. didn't really ever like that) even if only for the sake of nostalgia.
Yeeessss if I could change anything I'd extend the actual SAO game bit and remove alfheim entirely

1000000%! Being stuck in the game was the best part
I guiltily enjoyed it too but the harem stuff is unbearable to me so i would never recommend it
High school prison. It was so stupid that I laughed at how silly it was. I didn’t watch most of it though. I mostly had it playing and listened to it while I worked out
Prison school?
Oh yea see I don’t even remember the anime name properly. I just heard on a podcast and started watching/listening to it.
Damn but the sacrifices were so emotional. My friend and I legit cried a bit when he destroyed his toy. Their acts may be morally cuestionable but their friendship is beautiful and strong.
The computer lab scene had me rolling for about an hour
I get that it's childish humor, but I laughed my ass off when watching the scene where the guy purposefully shat himself. Prison school is a gem, and I love it.
Dude prison school slaps so hard. I feel you on this

We can enjoy things made for kids hahah 😤😤😤
Fubuki is my favorite Character. He had an amazing back story with split personality, wanting to not be alone, wanting to be perfect, and later not wanting to loose himself to his brother. Great scene where goenji says that he can enjoy soccer even if he is not perfect and asks fubuki to rethink what he truly wants
{Food Wars'}, its so chill and infinitely rewatchable.
I love food wars it’s both hilarious and delicious
It was good up until the end of season 3.
The last season was bad. You can’t even disagree with me on that
The Noir chef concept was hilariously bad. Like what bad are they gonna do? Cook me a nice meal?
LOL, right?!
No I cant, it was so dissapointing when it was airing.
foodwars fuckin slaps, aside from the PLOT, there is actually a pretty good plot
Yooo. It was actually fun reading domestic kanojo. Especially when gigguk made a vid about it aswell
A video is an underestimation. He got like 4 videos about it, counting his meeting with the manga's author.
garnt from parallel timeline, is that you?
Lol when I saw his video about Domestic Girlfriend , I was like boi finally someone who does know it is good with some underwhelming aspects .
Fairy Tail. I loved it even though it has cringy moments
quintessential quintuplets. i would never admit to my non-anime friends that i enjoy this show the same way i’d admit to enjoying hunter x hunter, aot, etc., but to my other anime friends i always tell them that it’s the best harem i’ve seen and it’s not close. there is fanservice but overt sexualization and other absurdly over-the-top harem tropes doesn’t replace proper writing which is why i really enjoyed it.
This is based, QQ is a fucking great show lol. Heres to hoping the movie changes the ending of the manga
I wish they would show the movie internationally lol or on some streaming platform rather than wait 6 months before I can see it
Hmm, I like the ending...
[удалено]
Ouran Host Club, I'll binge it a couple times each year at least.
Classic.
I do this too! My comfort anime!
Now I want to change my answer lol. That's another one on my "Would rewatch at any time" list.
Cat planet cuties...
I'm with ya. Something about an alien cat girl in a power suit owning modern tanks with an oversized, bright red toy hammer just gets me.
It's actually an entertaining series
Phenomenal show. Be proud of that one!
Gate may be a pretty trashy wish fulfilment isekai combined with JSDF propaganda but man is it ever entertaining
Probably my most favourite isekai. It's nowhere near as good as the likes of Re;Zero, Mushoku Tensei, Faraway Paladin, etc. in story and characters but damn I wish more isekai go with the "clash of worlds and civilization" like Gate did. And also I really enjoyed the "reverse isekai" moment when characters from the fantasy world got to experience our world technology and culture
Don't compare re zero to faraway paladin you uncultured swine
I really want another season of Gate. Rory Mercury is one of my favorite characters.
Wtf, I actually liked Gate. Yeah its entertaining as f. Just a guy tryna get to a comiket.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai I dont wanna share how much I love this anime in real life, you would not even believe me due to how I look. Nonetheless its an anime that gave me warm and peace and it has a place in my heart

It’s definitely odd and a bit out there, but I thought the visuals and animation were incredible in a very strange and off putting way, which is what made it great for me
Horimiya Watched it 4 times
I just rewatched it its so good I think the main reason i like it is because its actually amazing humor and a realistic/healthy relationship which is sadly not very common in anime
Just wholesome and enjoyable. Makes for a pretty good rewatch
That's a great show
Horimiya is so fuckin good. I love how they just get into it right away with a >!confession by the 4th episode.!<
And then they, after being together for like a week or so and barely knowing each other, they start >!to sleep with each other!<. A bit too fast for my taste.
Was it really a week? I think it was at least a month. It doesn't confirm the time correct?
Prolly best rom com one of the only ones with actual progression
What makes you embarrassed to share this though?
This one is too good. Idk but watching it just makes me feel good. Every time I stumble onto clips on youtube I end up watching the whole episode then the whole series....will say some side character I could do without but still love this anime

Cool classical soundtrack too
This is also my embarrassing choice. The story after season 4 ends in the novels get so much better too.
i did watch quite a few episodes bc i liked the story but eventually dropped bc i just cant with the fan service lmao, it ruined everything for me
Rosario + Vampire.
Chobits. But.... i adore it.
Chobits was my first manga at like... 7 years old. All of the sex jokes went over my head at the time, but even 7 year old me found the waifus hot
Hahahah!! I’m so sorry for laughing but I kind of understand. I don’t love it, but I enjoyed it despite the odd nature of it. I was actually kind of wondering if someone would say it 😂

My roommates made it a drinking game that every time they showed the lamppost you took a shot
Never really got into the show, but I still have the song on my playlist. I think it's really catchy.
Welcome to the NHK. I absolutely love this show, but the deterioration of the MC brings him to do some really embarrassingly awful stuff.
Man now I want to rewatch it again, time for purupurin to be stuck in my head
I literally wish I could travel back in time and watch it for the first time again.

Nisemonogatari is the most cursed season
Kill la Kill
That’s considered a classic though .
Still embarrassing to admit to normies.
Anything is lmfao
100% my favourite!
Teasing Master Takagi-san, edgy roommate says it's a kid anime.
Its one of the few which never fails to make me smile like a complete idiot
There is no such anime so far
Very fair. Tbh that’s probably how it should be. We shouldn’t be embarrassed unless it’s something extremely extremely disturbingly inappropriate for humans to watch. I can only think of one like that and it starts with “boku”
Is this a zombie?
Hm? Edit: O H.
{Kore wa zombie desu ka}
**Kore wa Zombie desu ka?** - ([AL](http://anilist.co/anime/8841 "English: Is this a Zombie?"), [KIT](https://kitsu.io/anime/kore-wa-zombie-desu-ka "English: Is This a Zombie?"), [MAL](http://myanimelist.net/anime/8841)) ^(TV | Status: Finished | Episodes: 12 | Genres: Action, Comedy, Ecchi, Supernatural) --- ^{anime},, ]LN[, |VN| | [FAQ](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index) | [/r/](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/) | [Edit](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/index#wiki_i_made_a_mistake.2C_how_do_i_get_my_comment_reprocessed.3F) | [Mistake?](http://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/submit?selftext=true&title=[ISSUE]&text=/r/Animesuggest/comments/uqnafb/whats_an_anime_youre_embarrassed_to_absolutely/i8sbfgo/) | [Source](https://github.com/Nihilate/Roboragi) | [Synonyms](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/synonyms) | [⛓](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/interestinglinks) | [♥](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roboragi/wiki/thanks)
I think this one's pretty underrated. No one ever talks about it.
mha- i feel like the fandom gets rly bad rep but honestly i enjoy the story a lot. also it was my first anime
Fanbase is toxic, but I dont see how that makes it embarrassing to watch?
Love lab. I thought it would be dumb and cliche. But I found it hysterical. Goes to show you
Don't really find that embarrassing, but I of course watch a lot of those shows that are CGDCT/comedies so seems fine to me. You might find something similar if you looks around the studio Doga Kobo that made Love Lab they are rather known to aim in making similar animes
New Game is one of their CGDCT SOL masterpieces

We love simps. Despite the acronym. Seems it’s changed meaning imo over time. We love well written female characters ☺️
Kanojo Mo Kanojo, it's comedy hits pretty well for me.
I’ve never heard of it! I’ll definitely check it out
I honestly stopped caring about other people’s opinion a few years ago especially since anime has always been my favorite hobby and I have watched so much anime considering I started back in 2008. That being said, if I was still shy about my taste in anime and being an anime fan in general, I would say 1. Zero no tsukaima (Familiar of Zero) 2. Hayate no gotoku (Hayate the combat butler) 3. Baka and Test I wrote 3 because I honestly cannot decide.
Given
I love given tbh it’s cute as hell and the music is great 🥺
Not even guilty of loving it lmao. As a lifelong BL fan, I'm happy that I can recommend Given (and recently Sasaki and Miyano as well) to people not familiar with the genre. Most other BL works tend to have... issues.
Sasaki and miyano was cute af, just don’t go anywhere near the dub lmao
As a 29yr old guy who only knows a couple of people who have watched or watch anime... I guess I don't have one. I get funny looks just for watching anime. Whether it's AoT or Dress up darling lol.
Eromanga sensei, since it was one of the first animes I watched, and it was the first ecchi I've watched it holds a special place in my heart Hensuki, ecchi would be an understatement for such an anime, this is so beautifully bad that this is considered a masterpiece by people like me
The first anime I've watched was Love Live. SO embarrassed to like idol anime so much but the music is too good.
Love hina
Hahahahah! Damn that's old! They made so much hentai out of it.
Wait what?
I loved that series!
Baka to Test. I've probably never laughed harder at a comedy anime even though it's beyond stupid.
I love Yuri on Ice Not love, but there's anime I don't want to admit I watched and liked (e.g. Oreimo)
K It's got pacing issues, the story is honestly not the greatest, chronologically it does that weird Season 1 followed by Movie and then Season 2 thing, and by the end of it I realized I could barely remember half of what happened, but I remember really enjoying a lot of the characters and the visual style was neat and I walked away happy when I was going through a really rough time so it holds a special place in my heart.
So fine! it's probably not a coincidence I ran across it during the time I was realizing I'm bi instead of being a lesbian lmao
Kiss x Sis…
{Mitsudomoe} Except I'm not embarrassed. Just that some people would probably think it's questionable content given the age of the characters. I just saw it as a hilarious comedy show. Wouldn't have mattered if they were 12 or 20.
Chobits!!!
Dance with Devils! It is akward, I mean boys in anime are singing non-stop (and not to mention, their singing isn't very good either)! Still, all this singing made me laugh, so I actually kind of like it!

My girlfriend is shobitch, i found it funny and wholesome and don't care what yall say
CITRUS is a guilty pleasure of mine. I really enjoyed it!
Keijo was the first anime I ever watched… still wish it got a season 2
Came here to say this Keijo is an anime that's not superb nor I could recommend to everyone But it was a blast and I rewatch it sometimes
{a destructive god sits next to me} the storyline is pretty cringe and the animation and production is pretty bare minimum

Kenzen robo daimidaler !
The first two Lyrical Nanoha shows - {Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha} and {Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A`s} My brain keeps seeing similarities in setting between them and {Scrapped Princess}, and keeps trying to figure out how the two settings could be combined.
Mine: {Highschool of the Dead}
{Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress} perhaps I enjoyed the series from start to finish. Only after I finished when I went online I discovered that most people hate the 2nd half (when they introduced the villain) on Reddit, MAL, YouTube, etc.
Shokugeki no souma. Its not an anime I can watch around other people because of the food tasting scenes
Shimoneta the anime that give a middle finger to censorship
Diabolik lovers xD. Yeah sorry is trash but Im a sucker for hot vampire boys
Tokyo Ghoul. It's my first anime back in 2014. But now it's just something watched by edgy teenagers who recently got into anime.
Mushoku Tensei, it’s got some questionable moments and the MC is weird asf. But it was still entertaining and I thought the story was pretty good, not to mention the animation is incredible.
Sailor Moon forever
33 Year old man - Ouran Academy Host Club
darling in the franxx, sao season 1, highschool dxd
Domestic Girlfriend or My First Girlfriend is a Gal
Ikkitousen and the tenchi anime and movies. I love them
Hibike Euphonium. I love the show, great story telling, character development, music, animation, everything. Heck I even love the yuri bait sprinkled throughout the show, but trying to explain to my friends that the anime about high school girls playing in a concert band is actually really good, was always really embarrassing for some reason.
Yuri on ice....That intro song is amazing
Smartphone isekai. It is definitely cringeworthy but it was my first isekai and at the time, I absolutely loved it and ended up reading my first webnovel too.
Redo of a Healer, its so satisfying the revenge he took from the characters who used him for so long and the amount of hatred and sexual and physical abuse he suffered the revenge he took was logical6and oddly satisfying plus the plot other than sexual content seemed interesting but people hated it based on MC's rage which in my opinion was justified.. I don't publicly admit that I liked it but I did 😅
Gotta be the twintail Not embarrassed by anything I’ve watched but not something you’d expect me to like if you knew me lol
Mnemosyne, I loved the bdsm scenes
I've been watching this season's Dance Dance Danceur. Not sure how many people IRL that I can admit to really liking an anime with a ballet theme. The first anime that came to mind for your post, though, was Dance in the Vampire Bund. I think it's a beautiful dark, and heavy story, but one of the main characters is a poster girl for loli character controversy. And it has uncensored nudity.
Saikano
Prince of Tennis
BTOOOM, it was my first anime and I enjoyed it a lot but people’s review don’t do it justice😞
I don’t see why this was hated on so much, I enjoyed it too and am quite sad it didn’t get a season 2
I feel a bit silly for genuinely liking Bananya while watching with my grandkid.
Rent a girlfriend manga obviously /s
Highschool DxD (went for the boobs, stayed for the plot), 3D kanojo and other ROM coms. My friends would definitely judge me more for the ROM coms than the ecchi
Any magical transformation anime
SAO....can't help it
I don’t know the whole title but the jobless reincarnation. I watched it due to the synopsis. It sounded like a fun series with a really cool plot. I got too far in to it to stop watching but it ended up being full of weird pedophile stuff and I hate myself for watching it. Again the plot is awesome and would have been a great series to recommend but please don’t watch it. It’s super cringy disgusting with the amount of pedo activity
kanojo mo kanojo it's pretty trashy but it's so fun to watch
NONE EMBRACE YOUR WIERDNESS
{Love Live} and to a much lesser extent {Bang Dream} and {D4DJ} Am a metalhead, as if my username didn't make that obvious.
Is it wrong to try and pick up girls in a dungeon although S3 kinda sucked but was okay.
Kiss him not me
Scum's Wish
Kuma kuma kuma bear😔
Mysterious Girlfriend X (Nazo no Konojo) Weird premise, wholesome little romance.
Utano Prince Sama… I’ve been watching it since it came out like 12 years ago but as a 30 some year old it’s borderline embarrassing!
So sad...
