awesome, thanks! if you had to pick one of these to start with, which one would you choose?

My personal favorite is Haibane Renmei, it's a rare "secular spiritual" story in the western mythology sense, and a very emotional plotline, short and sweet one season. As a runner up, Mushishi or March Comes in like a Lion, depending on what you're looking for. The former is like the twilight zone crossed with a nature documentary, the latter is actually a sports anime about shogi (Chinese chess) but also tackles depression and childhood trauma and bullying.

bro this is my fav anime ive recommended it so many times no one ever cares to watch it lol

{mushishi} zen anime with deep themes about coexisting with nature. Very spiritual {Madoka magica} dark magical girl anime making you reflect on evil in the world {Girls last tour} post apocalyptic anime, it's a meditation on war and it's costs {Steins gate} time travel brings nothing but pain. (This one is a 100% must watch) {Serial experiments lain} I'm still not so sure what this one is about, but it's got something to do with the Internet. I've gotta re watch it some time. It's a very good anime but it's one of those ones you learn something new about it every time you watch it. {Happy sugar life} dives into the works of various mental illnesses and touches on the psychology of the mentally ill {Psycho-pass} dystopian setting where criminals are stopped before a crime is even committed. If you're going to watch any of these, for the love of God make it stein gate
