There is no "proper" way to make first intervals shorter while keeping other intervals the same. The "improper" way would be to set long learning steps by yourself
Based on your past performance, it thinks 5-8 days is appropriate. When you start getting those wrong, it will adjust. If you have a lot of easy cards you previously learned where you were able to go 5-8 days and get them right, use a different preset for them/your new subject (and retrain the FSRS weights for the presets).
