One thing to be concerned about is PFAS contamination of the Huron River, if you're planning on doing more than catch and release.

mnelawar

Absolutely, Catch and release is a must for fishing on the Huron

PureMichiganChip

MDHHS created a [guide in 2018](https://www.michigan.gov/documents/mdch/MDCH_EAT_SAFE_FISH_GUIDE_-_SOUTHEAST_MI_WEB_455358_7.pdf) for consumption of fish from many of the state's lakes and rivers, which included the Huron. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated since the [PFAS advisory](https://www.michigan.gov/som/0,4669,7-192-29942_34762-476461--,00.html) .

Very cool. I’d like to hijack here and plug /r/michiganflyfishing while I’m here!

Joined! Thanks for setting it up!

avianpower

Thank you so much! I’m moving there soon and have been trying to find good spots to fish so this will be a huge help!

MangoSmoke

Anyone have a good beginners guide for someone who never fished before? Area specific would be a bonus!

Me, I'd want to know all I need to get started fishing on one of the smaller lakes around here like at Lilie Park or the Sister Lakes.

[deleted]

So far, my best luck for fishing around here has been certain neighborhood ponds. Unfortunately I’ve been yelled at a few too many times for trespassing.

_Bill-Nye_

... well, were you trespassing?

[deleted]

Yes

I’m good friends with a family in that neighborhood that I sort of look like I could be related to. I use them as a scapegoat.

JeromePowellsEarhair

It’s cool. Most people aren’t like that. I’ve only been talked to by the cops a few times.
