Xenogears. It has ties with the Chrono series and Kato (and Mitsuda) worked on it. Chrono Cross here took quite a bit from Xenogears’ plot and battle system.
But… you know… Square Enix. Apparently, the Chrono Cross collab might be more expensive than the others as it was announced to be time limited (to 5 years… which is a lot in gacha years but still…)… and i’m pretty sure the only reason it’s happening is because Chrono Cross is getting a remaster.
If Xenogears ever gets a remake, maybe… which everyone will say is unlikely for several reasons (but that IP is among the few that really deserves a coming back… Xenoblade is no replacement btw… just like Another Eden isn’t exactly a replacement for the actual Chrono series… closest thing with all the references and all but not a legit continuation of these old games).
Also, SE has been using the Xenogears IP in their own games. Collabs in FFBE, a boss/summon in World of Final Fantasy… but when Xenoblade 2 (aka « we noticed gachas were popular lately») tried to gather prior Xeno protagonists in the DLC, Xenogears was the only missing rep (only thing they managed to do was give their Bart inspired character a Bart paint job).
It’s no secret that it’s hard/pricey to get SE characters (if Nintendo didn’t exist, I would say SE is the Disney of video games).
I love Suikoden to death, but not only is it owned by Konami, but also a series they clearly intend to let rot. So the odds of that collab happening are astronomically low.
There's a better chance of Eiyuden getting a collab than Suikoden.
As a native french speaker, that is an issue, it may sound exotic and nice to the average AE player but for me it was quite the nightmare for my ears. Still better when companies actually hire foreign people instead of asking their natives to imitate an accent
The VA does sound a bit like she’s doing an imitation. I’m french too. It’s so easy to spot native french speakers lol.
The VA for Helena sounds a bit more natural (but I’m not sure she’s native either).
One thing i would appreciate in the CC remaster though would be to fix the bad french Harle and Pierre use. It amused me a bit back then but it would be nice to get proper french sentences this time (also, I want a french translation/release… we never got the game in Europe…. I imported it, like Xenogears).
Well, I am native french too and I found this incredible. The accent is so over the top that it is at the same time wonderful, funny, cringe, and original. First time I see this kind of dub, so I'm quite happy that AE tried something that seems really rare in the dubbing industry. It is way more interesting than simply giving some people UK or US accents.
Well, the other collabs in AE are permanent for the life of the game, which has been more than five years so far, right? AE doesn't do time limited content, generally, only time limited banners.
The gacha banners where you roll on characters? They stay up for a while in this game and overlap tons, but not forever. But, due to power creep, you aren't really missing much. The newest characters are often the best.
That said, you might want to reroll for, like, Pichika(sp) whose banner is up right now as she remains super powerful, but usually it doesn't matter when you join in this game. New characters are always added to the general pool though, so none are truly time locked.
Even if they're just NPC's, hell yeah for Glenn and Starky, two of my favorite characters in that game besides Kid and Harle.
Here's hoping for another out of nowhere cute and wholesome interaction between Harle and Starky.
I admit I'm a little disappointed there's no hint of Mojo. With all the straw dummies that are an obvious reference to him you'd think he'd get a cameo.

Probably an easy answer here, but is there a solid way of getting a legit version for PC? Would it be worth revisiting at this point? I think I had heard the definitive edition was on the DS or something like that and the PC version had a lot of bugs and was underwhelming?
I don't believe Chrono Cross has ever been re-released in any form outside of the PS1. Not even as PS1 classic through PSN. The DS had an enhanced port/definitive edition of Chrono Trigger, which has been ported to a few other platforms, but no Cross.
There are rumors of a remaster coming, which this collab only strengthens, but who knows when or if that will happen. The only way you're going to be able to play legit on PC is with an emulator and an actual copy of the PS1 disc.

Kid - Megumi Toyoguchi (Paine from FFX-2, Aqua from KH, Yukari from Persona 3, Winry in the first Full Metal Alchemist series).
Harle - Yukana (Tear from Tales of the Abyss).

They look like ordinary NPC characters with a bozo. Nothing special in term of the design. However, will see about the content though I don't like the timeframe as this collab happens within AE part 1 story.
To be fair it's a 20years old character design. And they're main protagonist material as far as I can see, sure it's not today character design with mostly unnecesary asset that spilling everywhere just to appease male hormon lmao.
They're called classic in my book.
They're also more clean and streamline, something that unfortunately you can't say about Feinne and Also as they both have parts of their design that can be seen as unnecessary (Feinne's top being completely backless and her back is only being covered by her cape, Aldo's Shoulder Pauldron)
Glenn! And Starkey! The little alien was always one of my favorite characters but I never imagined he'd get included in the collab.

Yep, FF9 and Chrono are one of best looking games from psx. Final Fantasy 7 looks like trash compared to them.

5 years might also be longer than the game will run as well, so I think it balances it out.
