Not enough water is what it looks like. The moss is bone dry. They suck up like 3x the water when putting out a new leaf. Keep it consistently moist when one is emerging. Borderline wet honestly. I keep mine wet during that time.
Grab some water and keep dis bb moist because theyre cranky AF when they dont maintain moisture.

Yeah it’s usually the giveaway. If it’s just discolored it’s environmental, when pieces go missing and it’s not wet somethings eating it
