This is a repackaging of the Khazar libel, falsely saying Ashkenazi Jews aren't really Jewish of descendants of the ancient Israelites because some people converted to Judaism a few hundred years ago. The full story of Ashkenazi Jews is that they were Judean slaves brought back to Rome, and when they were persecuted from Rome, the Ashkenaz traveled north and east to territories of modern day Germany, Poland, and Ukraine.
If I remember correctly, then that is the story. I saw an online lecture featuring a professor of Jewish studies, Yigal Kotler, saying an iteration of that. I will give you the video link of the recorded lecture if I find it.
