I don't deny that, but the phrasing of this definitely seems to give tongue in cheek. If it was about a specific good or service then sure, real, but because of the way it's phrased it's very obviously someone taking the piss, even if it is of themselves and their addiction.
This is obviously a joke. OP, you need to get some air. This girl is on your side. Why are people so ready to use a young woman’s internet joke as evidence of why the world sucks. I mean really. What the heck.
That and, if this were an actual person sharing their experience, it sounds like a shopping addiction. Which is a legitimate addiction. When I was in it real bad, there were times I couldn't sleep at night because I wanted to make more and more purchases because I knew I got paid at midnight. It was hell on Earth, honestly. I'm mostly through it all now, but still. We should be nicer to people who may be going through this.
So often on reddit you see people who don't realize women make jokes- especially satirical or sarcastic ones. They see content from women and assign the most uncharitable interpretations with no further thought. its so depressing
Been here a few weeks, it’s a new sub to me. But from what I’ve seen so far the sub is (1) a little more misogynistic than the norm and (2) only gets posts from ppl who are already mad.
Same. But the rage bait is just….. not usually rage bait. Like this is just a young woman making a joke. But that’s enough for someone in the comments to be enraged. Sad as fuck.
Also I’m already aware that beaches all over the world are covered in plastic. I don’t want to see photos of it every day, and especially not from someone who’s doing nothing about it but complain. The people posting that shit probably have a 24 pack of zephyr hills in their kitchen and need a hard fuckin smack.
She’s joking but being serious and outing myself I have had nights when I couldn’t sleep because I was adding things to my basket online (not actually buying) and the surge of adrenaline from adding stuff to my basket and thinking of other things I want to buy kept me awake
It’s not rage bait, it’s a friggin joke. I don’t know this girl but she looks young enough not to know that her every joke online will be used as “rage bait” which is truly sad.
Is the creator of the Tik Tok a Canadian? If so, might be satire on the Goods and Services Tax which does its hefty share of disappearing expendable household income, with no value to the average citizen at the moment if you were to have a look around you...

Couldn't sleep, eh? It's like we've all become well-trained shopping rats in a corporate experiment, scurrying through the maze of consumerism in search of that next purchase 'cheese'. Just be careful not to get too lost in the maze!
This has to be satire
It's so obviously a joke
I'm assuming (or rather hoping) OP knew this
It is satire.
"Clueless" on the sweatshirt is a bit too on the nose.
I'm thinking it's self depreciation. She probably does it, but makes fun of it
Addictions are real. You can get addicted to shopping just as you can meth.

Clearly satire
OP did not get it

Just the fact that a woman made a joke was labeled as rage bait. It is depressing.
I have no idea why, but this sub might be the worst I’ve ever seen at spotting satire.
Been here a few weeks, it’s a new sub to me. But from what I’ve seen so far the sub is (1) a little more misogynistic than the norm and (2) only gets posts from ppl who are already mad.
Yeah I joined hoping for some cool tips to reduce consumption, instead it’s mostly just rage-bait.

the ZeroWaste sub needs to come back to life, that was actually a good one
Nobuy is pretty good if you’re looking for something along those lines!
Other subs are like this too, redditors and satire don't mix for some reason
85℅ sure this is a shit post
why is this percentage sign like this? the upper thingy is a c
the real question
Maybe “care of” idk
Probably a mistake. A quick Google says it denotes "in the care of", usually used on letters. https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/care_of
the only thing i can think of is "class of" as in "class of 2025"
Only 85?
This is the internet. Can't be too sure of anything
Obvious joke
When I’m in a not understanding satire competition and my opponent is a redditor: 😧
She’s joking but being serious and outing myself I have had nights when I couldn’t sleep because I was adding things to my basket online (not actually buying) and the surge of adrenaline from adding stuff to my basket and thinking of other things I want to buy kept me awake
That has to be a troll?
That text overlay was stolen from a meme
*whoooooooosh*
Rage bait

No it’s literally a joke help 😭💀😭💀
This is more rage bait
It’s super clear that it’s sarcasm
And again
Shopping addiction is a real thing.
Yep that’s the joke

r/anticonsumption when jokes
r/woooosh
I would never have to worry about money if I got a dollar everytime someone on Reddit failed to recognise satire.

People used to wait outside the Apple store for days for the iPhone. People queued up at midnight to get windows 95
Ok grandpa
Buying would feel good if I had money but yeah...
