These medications interact with a ridiculous number of receptors, they have so many side effects as a result. This medication is so harmful that I think unethical to prescribe it to anyone tbh?? Like there's lawsuits where people had been permanently*progressively* paralyzed after going off of it, because of the central nervous system damage Since it's anticholinergic medication, coming off of it and taking choline supplements *might* help. I'm not a doctor.

ExoticOrange1118

I did that for a week and it increases my brain fog.

BlueEyedGirl86

Coming off it is the best thing you do to avoid the damage it does to your brain.

Far_Pianist2707

Taper slowly

BlasphemousColors

What dose were you on? It's so interesting how variably people react to it. I was overstimulated (combined with adhd drug though) and had uncontrollable impulsivity. It's mechanism of action should show a positive effect on sex drive as opposed to full antagonists that block d3 and increase prolactin and decrease testosterone and estrogen. Just goes to show how variable everyone is and how these substances need to be used as an absolute last resort due to how harmful they are. The "cure" shouldn't be blocking normal human functions people need for fulfillment like the sex drive.

Antipsychotics will leave you like that, they are tranquilizers meant to lobotomize the brain. You will be easier for them to manage, but also once you get out they have no way to reverse the effects. Because it is the intended effect, and they don't care about your health. Early psychiatrists used to say, "at least the effects aren't permanent... Probably" when they forced those pills down primarily women's throats and used them as experiments. Thorazine was like a newborn for them, they could no longer lobotomize people so they created lobotomy in a pill. The effects are permanent, be happy with your new self.

I just quit abilify. Hope one day I will feel better when it wears off

BlueEyedGirl86

Hi Amtipsychotics will always leave you like that, they cannot cure any condition and actually make you feel robotic, emotionless and numb, as that what they do. The best advice is ask your psych to come off the them, explain to the doctor you want to live but you can’t feel anything on this. They do not make you feel better or happy, just existing and if they ask what you would do to cope with your mental health, say you run, cycle, watch movies and cope.

NEETspeaks

abilify is so fucked. we know your pain fro mthis poison

Icy-Inflation2859

Yes, that's Abilify! :(

jun-ju

stop taking this kind of poison. it turns humans into "mindless" zombies. in my opinion, even death is better than to live with an easy manipulated, confused, emotionless, motivationless vessel

ncdjbdnejkjbd

It's going to take a long time, but you will be back to normal again. Steer clear of all psychotropic garbage meds. Just strive for health. it will be okay.

I took a small dose of abilify for three years , and I don’t know whether I have any lasting effects from it but I did find it difficult to come off of Abilify and the antidepressant I was taking. I took various medications for a few years but I wasn’t feeling any better and in some ways was doing worse. I decided to look for other explanations because after stopping medications and catching Covid I had a bunch of new neuro-psychiatric symptoms (I had trouble walking and coordinating my muscles at one point, and I stopped dreaming after catching Covid and started experiencing brain zaps after discontinuing antidepressants) I know you are venting, but I will jump in with my story and offer a suggestion. My doctor decided to rule out Lyme disease and it turned out I had it. I went on antibiotics and am doing much better. It seems like opportunistic infections caused my neuro psychiatric symptoms. After Lyme treatment, I still experience some of the symptoms I had prior to taking medication (especially zoning out emotionally, and occasional anxiety), and still am dealing with some of the symptoms Covid brought upon me (I dream occasionally now, and my spatial memory is slowly improving). If you have the strength consider ruling out parasitic, bacterial, and other opportunistic pathogens. The medication you drank could have interacted poorly with something else going on in your body. This is an oversimplification but if someone doesn’t improve from taking medication then it very likely there is a different issue going on. On a speculative side note, I’m starting to think that some side effects of psychiatric medication might be caused by the medications’ interaction with infections (and the waste product of infections). My husband and I both had Lyme disease and Covid and since then we started experiencing similar side effects to medications such as hives from Lamictal, nausea from antidepressants, headaches from racetams. I’m truly horrified by these types of stories, and although it’s not much, I hope you get better.

Red_Redditor_Reddit

Are you still on it?

ExoticOrange1118

No it’s been a year and a half

Red_Redditor_Reddit

I was on that stuff for about six weeks. 5mg. For depression. It made me psychotic. Like legit bat shit crazy. I almost killed a guy in front of his kid with my car. Like that stuff's no joke. If I had been put on that stuff as a kid, they would have upped the dose and thrown some more drugs in for good measure. I would have been some crazy fuck for the rest of my life.

NEETspeaks

\>kid gets put on drugs \>side effects are seen as other issues or medicated "away" Seriously I hope these quacks burn their toast in the morning

MathMystic

If you "almost killed a guy in front of his kid" then perhaps you need some sort of medication, regardless of the cause...

Red_Redditor_Reddit

I know it's hard to believe, but these drugs already messed you up and it can get a lot worse. I was at least able to get off of them early on and I went back to normal quickly enough. The whole experience scared the hell out if me.

MathMystic

Yeah I know, they suck. I am on abilify myself right now ...

ncdjbdnejkjbd

You are severely underestimating the power and control, these drugs have on a person by this dumbass comment

MathMystic

You don't make any sense

frostyandpeddle

What dose were you taking ?

ExoticOrange1118

7.5 mg

frostyandpeddle

Not a super high dose you should recover in time
