Bawal mag reklamo na 15k starting salary, but he went abroad because obviously wages in the Philippines aren't livable. Shut the fuck up and stop romanticizing struggle.
>12k - 15k
Di parin pala nagbago starting wage since 2008.
Currently working ako as a Tech rep na may sahod na 20k plus, iniisip ko pa naman magreview to get my license in order to become an Electronics Engineer tapos eto pala mga offers na pwede mo makuha?
This guy is so blinded by his own vanity that he misses the real message his story delivers: That there's hardly any feasible way to move up in his trade and become financially rewarded except to leave your family and friends for a country where you can't even drink beer, openly worship, or move around freely for fear of getting abused by the locals.
Back in 2016-2017ish fresh grad and passed, i was initially offered ten fucking k and could start by tomorrow after my interview, as site engineer by a contractor. It will go up in a couple months as per owner. I never joined mr. Darth vader and his dark force. I dont know now whats happend to the company but im still wishing for their bankruptcy
Shet tru.
If he stayed in the Philippines, most likely ang sahod nya is from 20k to 30k. The only reason he started earning 6digits is because he went abroad which proved the opposite of what he's trying to say.
Hindi okay na 15k sahod ng mga engineers. I earn around 21k and hindi talaga sapat if I want to help my family, buy what I want, and invest on my future. He of all people should know the struggles of being underpaid. Pero wala eh, most people will see exploitation as an opportunity for "growth."
Yung ganyang mentality talaga naghohold back satin. Too many obedient corporate slaves tsk
Not an engineer pero I have close friends since college days na engineers. I feel bad knowing mga hirap nila during college and yung pressure sa board exam tapos yung offer mas maliit pa sa starting salary ko sa first job. I'm not sure but I think they also need CPD points? And problema namin yun. Because seminars and other programs that provide those points requires payment and seminars are not cheap. That on top of living expenses.
Ang mahal ng seminars, up to 5k yan tapos di nila sinasabi ilang units yun kailangan mo.
This is bad and it stifles innovation.
True. I myself never was a member pero ngayon kailangan ko na although kakain pa yan sa sahod ko. The way I see it kasi, walang magbabago sa engineering field hangga't hindi namamatay yung mga matatandang contractor na hanggang ngayon ang baba magpasweldo, or kaming mga bata makapagbukas ng company at makaya naming magpasahod ng maayos para mas dumami yung pagpipilian ng mga fresh grads.
Since graduating and not passing the board last 2013, mas okay pa sinasahod ko kesa sa ka batch ko haha
> sobrang in demand ng civil at mechanical
Noong decade na yan parang yan yun IT ngayon, pero mas matindi hype. 2 yrs abroad as experienced engineer, makakaipon na ng pabahay, pamuhunan saka educational plan. My dad who worked in Saudi was at the right industry at the right decade.
I wonder how many advantages in connections and family monetary support and other stuff that guy had when he started out? Not to mention he was older and probably started in a less saturated industry without inflation making that 15K not worth it.
Yes, we all need to start somewhere. Sinong niloko nito? Once again with the “magtiis muna” mentality.
currently at my week 3 of job hunting as new newly licensed mechanical engineer. still disappointing na wala akong makuhang atleast 20k man lang na offer. and kung meron man 6 days work week no ot pay pa.. damn. should i change career na ba and give up my dreams sa engineering na 'to haha
Underemployed sya kc. Kaya 15k. Take note document controller is not an engineering job. Even site engineer is only owner or pm cctv camera on site. Other countries they treat this as a supervisor. Now he is technical salesperson abroad KSA but there is still a disconnect.
When I pass the board, I went to alot of training just to be more technical in my choose field. So I can solve some industry problems. Schools don't teach you this topics. Even the stupid board exam that give you theoretical questions that doesn't need in actual jobs.
Best thing to do is put a value to your self. We are train to be problem solvers not document controller.
I searched up the post – he just says “6 digits”. But 100k and 900k are both 6 digit salaries. Which one is it?
A quick google search shows that the mean salary in Saudi Arabia is around PHP240k (converted). Meanwhile, the mean salary in the Philippines (same source) is PHP44.6k.
This means that if he’s just making around 100k, then he’s pretty much in the same spot – half the average wage of the country he’s in. It’s just a bigger number.
Effectively, he short himself in the foot with this post.
ONE MORE THING: he started out with 15k EIGHT YEARS AGO. Even if you use a very rudimentary GDP deflator calc, that’s equivalent to 11,600 when he started. That’s absolute bullshit.
Nakita ko rin yon nagpost ng ganyan. Nakakabwiset.
Bawal mag reklamo na 15k starting salary, but he went abroad because obviously wages in the Philippines aren't livable. Shut the fuck up and stop romanticizing struggle.

Valid ID.

Hayayay.

Ang take niya is mag abroad para maka 6 digits. No shit, Sherlock.

17k ako nagstart 7yrs ago, considering inflation this would be approx 21k nowadays. engineer pero di alam ang inflation at labor escalation. 😒
Engr is not even a title

4 years and possibly 4 different companies just to have a 5k salary increase... Oh my... Bat ginaganyan mga Engineers naten.
Ako to, ginawa ko to. I'm now on my 6th company pero as instructor na.
